Oh my, the bit with Bumblebee off to the side gesturing to the others was great. Man, I so cannot wait for this movie.

I have to say, that was kind of funny in a juvenile sort of way. Then again, this movie is aimed at an audience who will buy the figures (5-12) so there will be that kind of humor. One thing though: I'm really impressed with Shia. The more I see the more I like him. Could Transformers be a career jumping board in the same way Spidey was for Tobey or Titanic was for Leo DiCaprio? He sort of has that same "tween appeal" that those to do/did. Hmmm...

And how is he going to explain all those vehicles in his yard?

One other thing: what the heck does his dad do? That was a really nice yard! (coming from someone who lives in a condo and doesn't have one of his own)
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

I have to say the CG still continues to impress. Their expressions and movements are very well done.

Shia also seems to be pretty good. I hope his acting is as good as it seems here.

This is going to rock. I love BB's motions and right when Prime steps on the fountain/birdbath, you can see Bumblebee make a "Doh!" motion, which has completely super-duper more than ever before made me know this movie will be excellent.

OK can anyone guess what my opinion on this scene was?......

Big suprise......It was horrific. I was starting to come around to the idea of this being a big dumb giant robot kick ass special effects movie and then they went all unfunny slapstick on me! It made me feel sick and quite embarrassed to call myself a transformers fan to see Prime, Bumblebee and Ironhide reduced to a low rent three stooges act. This just confirms to me what I've suspected all along, no one making this movie has the slightest idea what Transformers is/was. RIP Transformers.

I read every line of your post, and the words "Oh God" keep popping up in my head.

It's not supposed to be deep, it's supposed to entertain. ANd it was most entertaining. If it wasn't for you, then you've set your standards too high.

Alex: Seeing as you apparently wrote, directed, drew, colored, packaged and mailed out the videos, made the comics, personally carved each toy out of plastic... why don't we just go ahead and accept your assessment of all things Transformers from now on.

I'm sure we'll be all the better off for it.

Yes Big Surprise that you didnt like it. I don't know at what point Transformers became such high quality that it is set with high expectations. In my opinion this is a step up from anything done within the last ten years when it comes to transformers and frankly if G1 would have never existed this movie would set the benchmark that any further Transformer series would be set upon.

It wasn't entertaining it was embarrassing, it was unfunny it was poorly executed low brow derivative slapstick nonsense. I wasn't expecting deep, I never have, I was expecting a movie that showed some respect/resemblance to the Transformers I know and love, that is not what this is, are those standard really so high?

I never expected this movie to reach the high standards set by the Marvel G1 comics, Beast Wars/Machines or IDW (all far superior to this tripe IMO) but I had hoped it would be a good movie. I'm really sorry I'm not jumping cartwheels with the rest of you guys but aside from the special effects this movie looks ****. I was hoping for better than ****.

Well guess what? That's how Transformers has been handled since 1984.

What would make you happy, big, ugly-ass clunky robots that transform in two moves. (And it's never the same two moves) How about stories written for children? Oh! How about we hire some cheap Asian animation just to save a couple bucks? Of course, we'd have to have continuity AND animation errors.

Look, if you're embarrassed by THIS clip, then what happens when you go out on a date, and tell the girl you collect Transformers? Transformers is for kids, you know.

So far 2 1/2 pages of other peoples responces show that your opinion is in the minority. Granted it is still your opinion so there is no wrong or right to it. Some of it comes down to "how would I react in a situation like that" Think back to your childhood prhaps, have you ever tried so hard to hide something from someone that you were getting caught up on your own words or just trying to hold someone off long enough for something to get done. Now just think if what you were trying to hide was 4 huge robots in your backyard.

Its not slapstick comedy, its is just comedy plain and simple. It just doesnt live up to your representation of what comedy should be. Just as this isnt living up to your representation of what transformers should be, doesnt mean it is ****. One mans trash in another mans treasure.

Agreed. I just didn't want this thread to go past without you treasure hunters getting the other guys opinion. And aside from the G1 cartoon I belive this movie is more childish and low brow than any other TF fiction. I see this movie as a giant leap backward not a brave step forwards and I'd much rather see another cheap Japaneses made cartoon series with simplistic transformations if it meant a better story with better characterization. That's my opinion, I know on this board I'm in a minority but that;s just because most people who feel the same as me have already given up posting here. Maybe I should do the same.

Well, seeing as how Speilberg had to talk them out of an R rating and into a PG-13, I don't think it will be all too childish. And RID, though I liked it, was really pretty childish.

You're talking as if you've seen it.

You're not Burn or any of those guys who HAVE seen it, so you really can't comment on it until the 23rd, when Burn does his review.

Oh then we best get Ryan to shut this forum down until the movie has been released then, because according to you nobody here (except Burn and one or two others) really has any right to comment on this movie negatively OR positively. No I haven't see it, and I don't pretend to have done, but I don't think that disqualifies me from commenting what I have seen and read about the movie. If my assumptions based on the evidence provided turn out to be wrong I'll happily eat my words, will you do the same?

First off let me say that I liked the clip and I thought the CG were fantastic.

But..........

I can kinda see where AK is coming from. Whenever I think of Prime I think of a stoic figure. Watching Prime walk around the yard kinda clumsily and then accidently step on that fountain made me grimace. I could see the other TF's doing this (especially BB), but seeing prime portrayed like that felt a little off. This of coarse is my opinion and others are free to feel differently.

I have already pre paid for my tickets and can't wait till 8 PM 7/2/07!

I would, if I had the same level of attachment and expectations of potential granduer(not sure if thats the right word to use, but you get the idea). I am going in knowing that the base elements of what made me like transformers 22 years ago are still there with necessary updates for the new millenium. For me it will be a 2 hour joyride back to my childhood and remembering why the 80's were the best decade for certain cartoons and toylines. I'm not going to bitch if they don't mention the matrix or the fact that bb cant talk for the time being. I'm going go into the theater on the third, sit my fat ass in a chair and get lost in wonderment for 2 hours. Now isnt that what going to the movies should be about?

'Cold Comfort and Joy', a Marvel UK story. Inferno, Sandstorm and Broadside head into a human town to join in the celebrations and end up flattening half the town because the humans freaked out when they transformed and they fell into the buildings as they staggered around trying to avoid standing on people.

So... yeah. Not without precedent, and in Marvel UK of all places, which is apparently more mature and way above this sort of thing.

I thought it was a cracking clip, and it sets the tone nicely for a fun family adventure, which is exactly what I feel TF should be aiming for.

As far as Prime ruining that birdbath goes, it makes sense, because he's certainly the biggest Transformer among the Autobots. I can't really see BB destroying it without falling flat out, or "accidentally" shooting it with his gigantic arm cannon. I think that this scene will really drive home the "aliens in a foreign environment" idea.

You can't judge a movie by random, less than minute-long clips or commercials. You have to go see it in the theater. And honestly, you can't expect the movie to suck because you don't like one short part or anything like that. Seriously, chill out. If you have nothing positive to say, at least try not to force your opinion onto others.

You have to understand that the Transformers are used to a metal planet made for robots their size with no art like that to step on, or anything small to step on for that matter. None of them are used to it and have to adjust. Don't expect them to automatically adjust to being on Earth like in G1 or any other cartoon.

This movie also isn't childish, it's PG-13. Granted, it's founded on a childish subject (like the Spidey movies), and you can expect to see kids there. Also like the Spidey movies, the small kids there will be scared out of their minds from the violence and Megatron, who looks like he could eat you.

I'm betting that this movie will be way way way more intense than any of the Spiderman movies. And that makes me very very happy. It would just be so cool if Bay took the Samurai Jack approach and made the Robots' oil like blood. Talk about bad ass. We'll know soon enough!
