Should Hasbro Release the "Go-Bots/Rock Lords?" Should they be added to the TF Mythos?

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

wow alot of hatred for a simple toyline, that IMHO, was kinda cool back in the day..

Yeah the hatred is a bit confusing. GoBots were fun in their own way, I loved the oversized Cy-Kill, Leader-1 and Destroyer figures. My brother had all of the smaller GoBots and the big electronic base. My cousin was a huge Porsche fan and had the Baron Von Joy figure, god his robot mode was funny.

Overall they were fun figures, they scaled well with Hot Wheels and were cheaper than Transformers at the time so my parents would actually buy them. If they released them I'd probably buy a few just for old time's sake.

And they even had more die-cast than Transformers. I got some little grey Gobot truck yesterday (scout size) and the transformation is better than pretty much all G1 TFs of the same size (or better, at any size). And I still find Super Leader 1 to be much better than all the G1 seekers. Not detachable parts and a much sleeker jet mode. And lots of die-cast.

And to the O.P. yes. I'd love to see Rock Lords and Go-Bots make a comeback, plus with Paramount having the rights to the movie ("Battle Of The Rock Lords") and Hasbro's working with Paramount....

It's not entirely plausible, but it's not impossible either.

It would be nice!

Plus, GoBots had a larger variety of vehicles for their time, when compared to Transformers(Season 1 and 2). And there were very few repaints.

So basicly, I think that GoBots in general were in SOME repsects better than transformers of the minibot scale, but inferior to deluxes and up big time.

And Zod is awsome, I wish the electronics in mine still worked.

I actually had quite a few Rock Lords... Tombstone was a personal favorite. If they did come back, I would hope they'd take the path of upgrading the molds with better articulation.

But I don't have any desire for them to be relaunched.

After going back and looking up all of the old GoBots, I think I may have to find me a Crasher and Psycho figure. I have some damn good memories of those particular toys and am now remembering all the great car modes these guys had. Bug Bite was especially awesome.

Get off it.

And since you wouldn't mind seeing these come back, you obviously aren't in the majority of people who don't want or couldn't care less if these return.

As such, I wasn't speaking for you. As you seem to not like me all that much, any future agreeing with Counterpunch is going to require a consultant fee.

I can't stand your arrogance, or your "What I say is gold, follow it because I'm right. I'm always right." posts and overall attitude. While some of it's for humor's sake, the rest of it *seems* to be that it's done just so you can live up to the "douche" moniker. (No one should embrace it, either.)

You have a serious bug up your behind when it comes to me. I know why, but I'm not sure when it started, and I realize it's not going to stop. So in the future (and I include myself in this) we should just completely avoid each other's posts. We're just not going to see eye to eye on anything, and while that's our right, it's easier for both parties just to avoid future chances of it.

And to say I simply don't like you is wrong. I don't like or dislike you. You're neutral in my eyes, I can't make a judgment call because I don't know you (or know you well enough) to do so. I don't like the way you present yourself, but that doesn't tell me the real you, so again I can't make a judgment on you the person.

And yes, yes, yes, I know my sig contradicts my posts and all that. I'm a bad Christian, I don't live up to Christianity's expectations, etc. I know, I've heard it all. Give it up, I'm sick of it. I'm human first, and I'm working on myself as best as I can.

People seem to think perfection is within the grasp of a human being, but it's not. Believe me, I've tried.

Jebus, does everyone on the forums today have PMS? Did we all have our Cheerios pissed in this morning? I know I've been a bit crabby today too but cripes every thread is degenerating into off topic arguments. Meh. Meh I say!

Not everyone has PMS. And yes, someone took a whiz in my Cheerios this morning. It would've been nice if they had just warned me ahead of time. That first spoonful has a bite to it.

First let me say......Ewwwww on the Cheerios thing... :o)

Second on the topic of Punch and Counterpunch, If you have problems with him and his posts, then read my saying from my sig, and follow the teachings of Huo Yuanjia:

"The easiest way to "counter a punch" and beat your opponent,
is to simply avoid their blows."

So I'm glad to see that someone has followed Huo Yuanjia's advice...and is gonna steer clear of Counterpunch in posts to avoid conflicts... and for those who don't know, Huo Yuanjia is from Northern Shaolin......

Huo Yuanjia (1868-1909), born in Tianjin, Huo became one of the most famous martial art heroes in modern Chinese History.

The film Fearless (2006) is a fictionalized story based loosely upon the life of Huo Yuanjia, who is played by Jet Li.

follow the way of the warrior and just steer clear and avoid the enemy and you will always win in the end..;)^

" Also this was a middle gound neutral comment and in no way meant to attack either Counterpunch, nor Autobot032.."

And to those who showed support of the Gobots, way to go!!! Thanks for coming out and not being afraid to like them and show it.. I like them, and since Hasbro has the license for them and reproduced them already under the Transformers label, that makes them part of the Transformers Mythos, already...So sorry guys, it already happened :D

Like it or not the GoBots have already infiltrated the Transformers Verse!!!!!

I would love to see them one day become a permanent fixture in Transformers lore with a really good updated Leader one whose actually a Voyager sized Jet and is part of an Air cadre under the direction of Jetfire/Skyfire... and a Road team under the Direction of Cy-Kill who answers exclusively to Megatron, those old designs from the 80s should be given an Ultimate homage and brought in as characters for future transformers Projects as a nod to those of Us who are GoBots fans, and not as some weakling Minicon who looks nothing like the original toy design...

I just wish we could get a little respect from Hasbro on a part of history, yes, yes we know transformers won the battle of the Bots, but could we atleast get a little bit of respect thrown the Gobots way, and again not as a Kids line of Transformers and not as some lowly Minicon attachment thingy.. but a s a real great toy that brings us a good homage to the original..it's due.. :D

You know, this is probably about as close as you can come to actually insulting me.

So, what’s the deal? Have I done anything other than actually argue a point of view?

Have I insulted either you or Autobot32?

Where are the derogatory statements I have made towards either of you as a person?

You won’t find them.

Why exactly, should anyone in particular steer clear of my posts? Have I ever received an official warning here? Am I someone who instigates flame wars? Have I ever strayed outside the confines of whatever discussion was going on at the time?

In fact, the only person I have actively made fun of, said anything bad about, or been derogatory towards is myself. I shrug off almost every bit of negative attention I get as a result of arguing my point of view.

The truth is, if you can’t handle discussion, debate, and challenges to your sacred little opinions of the world and the way things work, well then you had best steer clear of my posts and opinions, because in that case, you’re in the wrong place. Message boards are for discussion and debate. If your opinions and statements are too weak and you prefer to shy away, well, no big loss. They probably weren’t worth hearing anyway.

Skywarp-2, since you specifically singled me out…

As I’ve said before, I appreciate the discussion you bring to the table. I’ve spoke to you over PM and I thought, we were cool despite our occasional differences. Still, you’ve kept what is essentially a quote in your sig which is flame baiting me and now you’re glad to see people avoiding dealing with me.

What’s up chief?

Autobot32,

The first time you ever spoke to me on these boards was to say that you were sick of my putting forth strong opinions and that you didn’t like my attitude.

What I need to know, and this is serious:

Are you coming to hang out with us on the 22nd? If so, are you up for cooking out or going out for food?

Oh, Skywarp, Richmond is only 2 hours away. You should think about coming up for food and games as well.

Rock Lords=No. I hated those so much as kid, I used 'em as real rocks and threw at people I didn't like.

Gobots=yes. I actually like a bunch of 'em. Too bad it won't happen.

Actually we are cool, and the jib in my sig is not meant to be derogatory towards you in any way..it was meant to be funny.. and for this type of situation.. I have no personal bad feelings towards you, and am Glad we spoke via PM..

I may have misspoken earlier when I commended Autobot032 on his decision to not retaliate in his argument with you.. I merely was stating as the Sig suggests, to avoid an argument altogether, I never meant to imply that your posts should be avoided...........................entirely.. :P

....thank you oh so much for that visual. *puts down sandwich* I'm not hungry anymore. ...and I really hope that was MAYO! >_<

And so everyone knows...my intention was to avoid conflict with his posts and opinions. Not to ignore or disrespect his opinion.

Even if I don't agree with someone's opinion, it doesn't mean that it's any less important than anyone else's. Nor is the person less important.

In fact, 'Punch and I just had a chat on AIM, and we're going to give this a shot to where we're just gonna post and let it slide. Try and find a common ground, even if we don't see eye to eye with everything. We both got out what was needed to be said and figured it was better to at least try if nothing else.

Neither one of us is perfect, and it's sometimes difficult to handle one's self with decorum on the internet. (especially the subject at hand, at any given time.)

Like I told him, with me, there's no hiding behind IP addresses or screen names, what you see is literally what you get. I'm generally a nice guy, but I fully admit I can be an absolute prick, which makes me hard to deal with. I'm working on it though, I'm doing my best to become an easier person. Once you get to know me, I'm not all opinions, rants, and general idiocy. There's a person there too.

Oh, and Skywarp....*cracks 'warp's knee* Thanks for ruining sandwiches for me! Thanks a whole lot! *cracks the other knee and walks away*

Doggone it...

*mumbles* why people gotta ruin it for everyone else? Huh? Why? WHY?! *shakes fist*

It's odd. Not too surprising, but odd that of all the nonsense to irritate me in the thread, not a bit of it has to do with Punch and Judy going at it for whatever reason, but this.

Dude. It's like a f*cking brick wall that has the ability to post. Hasbro has no "license." GoBots have never been "reproduced by Hasbro," and certainly aren't part of the mythos officially. Are you intentionally living in some fantasy world where Hasbro has or should have done specifically what you want out of them?

Hasbro snatched up Tonka the same way they did Kenner. They can now claim ownership to some Gobot names, the same way they can't use every G1 name out there. In fact, several Gobots happened to have the same names as some G1 characters regardless - particularly Rumble, Blaster, and Warpath. The only original names in recent use are Brimstone, Bugbite, and of course, Leader-1. That's it.

I have no idea what your definition of reproduction is. These do not constitute a reproduction. You're going to have to fill me in otherwise, because I think that was my brain that just oozed onto my shoulder.

But in all seriousness, I'm not getting it. Care to fill the rest of us in, please?

I like them, and since Hasbro has the license for them and reproduced them already under the Transformers label, that makes them part of the Transformers Mythos, already...So sorry guys, it already happened :D

Care to fill the rest of us in, please?

ok just for the sake of argument and to also keep your brain from exploding I have compiled the information yee seek.. young Padawan...

Playskool Transformers Go-Bots was a kid line that was released some time ago that incorporated the name and a few Go-Bots names into their toyline.. now this not being a full fledged addition to the Original or at that time, running Transformers series, it did in fact exist, thus, the "Name" Gobots was introduced under the Transformers Banner.. Further more..

Unlike Transformers, Gobots was released in several different guises around the world.

In the UK, France and a number of other European countries, Bandai released the figures as Robo Machine, utilising most of the Tonka names. Later on, when the Challenge of the Gobots cartoon arrived, this was changed, or modified (often resulting in clumsy branding such as Robo Machines featuring Challenge of the Gobots or Challenge of the Gobots - A Robo Machine Production).

In Australia, the line was released as Machine Men. The Machine Men name had been used also by Bandai in an item to market Machine Robo in America in early 1983, but after issuing six figures the line failed. However, Bandai's Australian release was successful enough to retain the Machine Men branding, which was even added to the cartoon when that began airing.

In Brazil, the line was initially produced by Glasslite as Mutante. The license was later taken over by Mimo.
It was also translated into Arabic and retitled Hikayat alamaliqa, or A Tale of Giants.

In Japan, Bandai opted to keep with the Machine Robo line, rather than importing the Gobots.

In 1991, Hasbro took over Tonka, and thus the Gobot trademarks; the molds for the action figures remain the property of Bandai, having only been leased to Tonka, and some were reissued in 1993 for the European Robo Machines line. Since then, these have been used several times – a character called Gobots was released in 1993, a range of figures in 1995 were called the Go-Bots, and Hasbro subsidiary Playskool issued a line named Transformers: Gobots in 2002.

So with the above information, it is possible for HASBRO TO PRODUCE THEIR OWN MOLDS FOR AN UPDATED RELEASE...

ONLY BANDAI OWNS THE ORIGINAL MOLDS...

My reissue dreams are dead, but a fully realized Voyager Leader-1 is still a possability.. someday...and Cy-Kill, ect... Bandai only controls the original Molds, they can do an updated version of those designs without any difficulty.. :P
