Should Hasbro Release the "Go-Bots/Rock Lords?" Should they be added to the TF Mythos?
thanks, its not the best work, I kinda suck at photoshop, so it's the best I can do to try to get my point across..
anyhow..like I said before, it would be cool to see those specific Go-Bots figures updated and added into the Transformers Mythos as Autobot and Decepticon characters..
at least just 3 baddies and 3 good guys, that would be excellent for us Go-Bots/Transformers fans...

Dude... That's one wicked digibash! I gotta try that! Oh, and here's a list of subs. for Classics GoBots:
Botcon Bugbite = Bugbite
Mirage + Repaint + Headswap = Crasher
Protoform Prime = Pathfinder (Always thought the protoforms had a feminine body shape.)
Target Movie Armourhide + Hot Wheels Trailer = Road Ranger
Movie Dreadwind = Badboy
????? = Treads
????? = Smallfoot
That orange motorcycle guy + Repaint = Cykill
Any other Ideas?

Hell yeah I do, replace the head on Energon Quickstrike with Dirge and repaint as Cop-Tur.. blasphemes I know...
the Rocklords as a seperate race of Transformers deep in space on a planet that only has molten lava and stones..hmmm not bad.. they could have used the stones and minerals as shields from the energon deposits like in beast Wars..

You could always look for the eHobby set that came out a few years ago:
Badboy (Powerglide Repaint):

Bugbite (Bumblebee repaint; has retooled face):

Pathfinder (Cosmos repaint):

Smallfoot (Gears repaint):

Treads (Warpath repaint):

This was a repaint of the Takara reissue DW box of the five G1 Minibots that came out a few years ago.
Now if you want updated Machine Robo figures, then you should check out Machine Robo Rescue and its spin off line, Machine Robo Mugenbine. Machine Robo Rescue figures are updated versions of the popular Machine Robo figures from the 80's. Only problem is they are the favorite figures from Japan. In the Machine Robo line, there aren't any Guardians or Renegades, they are fighting together against a common foe.

In this case the popular ones are: Fitor & Screwhead. The Police car looks nothing like Hans Cuff and a bit more like Puzzler component Jigsaw. Neither have the same head. The toyline came in two flavors, the original release where the main figure had four drone figures that transformed from vehicle to robot and all of them combined into a large gestalt figure. All of the limbs/drones are interchangable ala G1's Scramble City combiners.

This interchangability developed into Machine Robo Mugenbine which is like combining gestalts and Legos. The robots without the drones were released early on in this series and are compatible with the Mugenroids (robots in MRM) and their "Bine Parts". You can build all kinds of crazy things with Mugenbine. Here is one I put together last month with four sets that were released earlier this year.

The Machine Robo Rescue figs are a few years old (I think they came out around 2001-2003) and were only released in Japan and Asia. So they may be difficult to find and pretty costly.

Hobby Link Japan still has some of the single unit guys for about $7.00 each. I got two of them from a huge Japanese auction I won and they are pretty cool updated figures (I also collect Mugenbines) and I am eventually going to get the combiner sets in the MRR series.
Just be aware that shipping from Japan is expensive if you don't already know.

Pathfinder is a girl actually, and so is Vamp apparently. Vamp is awsome, I have the small version. What if they did a redeco of Cybertron Megatron for her(though it should be a him in my opinion):

Robot mode's a little iffy though, no claws:

And they need to make a new Raizor, totally awsome alt. mode:

I've had some people ask me how these designs would work as far as transformation, I'm gonna excplain the 2, Leader One and Cy-Kill...
For Leader one, the middle section which houses the nose cone and cockpit of the jet is hinged and comes up, it then rotates up and locks down, where a cavity underneath houses the head. the arms stay straightand push up twards the air intakes, and curve inward so that the jet plates on the back side of the arms are visable for the under fusalage sections, between his legs is a flipped over flat section that fills the void between the nose cone section and the front air intakes, and the back booster and wing section.. this then flips upwards between the legs, and snaps into place just behind the cockpit/nose cone section, the legs fold upwards, and the back booster section slides up over the knee joints and walla!! jet mode!!!
I'll do a Digi walk through of the transformation later...

Next is Cy-Kill, his transformation is a bit more simplistic, basically the wheels detach from the shoulders, like the original, the arms are turned sideways and lined up for the wheels to snap into place... then you pull back the shoulders, and push them together above and behind the head, they should lock together via a pin and whole, the handle bars shown above the shoulder sare hinged and can be angle slightly.....the air intakes on his chest also rotate up and face forward in Motocycle mode and hide the face as well as give a proper looking front end to the altmode... you then angle the arms downward till they hit a small plastic bar in the shoulders and snap lightly into place, the wheel is then inserted into the hands and you have a front end, then you simply fold up his legs and knees and snap them together, with the ewheel firmly inside the whole for it to stay as the rear tire, then snap the legs into a peg on his abdomen... and now you have a motorcycle Cy-Kill!!!
like I said earlier, i'll do a digibash transformation later...

I'm glad that someone brought up Machine Robo Rescue.
I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the previous posts, but some time ago Hasbro screwed over Bandai.
Bandai had just released "Machine Robo Rescue", a modern update to their Machine Robo toyline.
To make sure Bandai couldn't officially launch the franchise in the US, Hasbro secured the rights to the name "Machine Robot Rescue"...which they shamelessly plastered as stickers on re-issued toys that came out under the "Transformers: Universe" line, such as TFU Ratchet ( a re-issue of TF: RiD X-Brawn if I remember right).

Can somone turn this into Cykill?

EDIT: We should have a Gobot section of the site.

yeah i love that mid section and the head, it's the back tires and front end tires that bothers me about that figure....a repaint wouldn't really be enough to make him look like cy-Kill...unfortunately..
Also I too think Dive Dive looks better then the Hasbro Transformer Sub...
and I too think seibertron.com needs a Go-Bots toy section and forums section, considering Hasbro owns the rights to the protperty and has incorporated it into the transformers franchise through various incarnations...
by the way, over 1K in views!!!!

Give me a good Leader One, and Cy-Kill in Voyager class or Leader, and a cartoon incarnation of them, and I'll be happy.. I can always pretend to have my own battles as well..
Now granted Prime was the king, but I always had a fondness of Leader one as a cool Bot, and those exosuits for transformable robots?? Pricelss!!!! Hasbro should bring the mobile transformable base concept back.. that was one of my favorite all time play bases... I would play with that base for hours with my gobots and never get bored..it was such a cool toy, it reminded me of the At At from Star Wars...the base is pictured in the left corner of this image bellow, it's in command center mode, which is cool...
It really seems to me, that as I'm older and working, the imagination and fun I had as a child is worth more to me now, then it ever was then and certainly alot harder to come by, then money or anything else for that matter...
I love collecting!!! In some ways I feel that Imagination and fun as a child in seeing and posing my bots, it's what brings a hint of goodness back to our lives.. outside of work, family, people, any thing that we deal with day to day... it's the simplist of pleasures, a basic fun that reminds us of our childhood, and good times with imagination and hope in our hearts..a simple feeling that is derived from positioning a transformer in a cool position, or transforming one, and hearing that theme song in your head, or opening a new MISB for the first time.. it's all priceless and worth it..Transformers and collecting in general.. it's agreat stress reliever, and food for your soul..

Sigh..... Memories!!

Hmm, a GoBot forum, I would support that.
Agreed on imagination. I remember back in the day when I would play for hours as well. Not usually Transformers, G.I. Joe/Star Wars/Super Heroes, but hey, that's probably the reason why I collect Transformers now.
And I see the yellow tank center Grungy powersuit combiner thingy. I wonder if that ever came out? I read I think on toyarchive.com that it's honestly unknown about some of those older figures cause it's been proven that some came out years after the fact.
And the command center rocks all sorts of awsomeness. I do remember playing with that thing a lot, and I still have most of it. It was cool how the piece of red plastic in the door was also one of those decoder type deals. And I think I even used it as an "AT-AT" on a couple of occasions. Power to the versitility of a child's imagination!

It was cool how the piece of red plastic in the door was also one of those decoder type deals. And I think I even used it as an "AT-AT" on a couple of occasions. Power to the versitility of a child's imagination!
Well since the original concept was a rival to the Transformers, I would say that the Gobots characters need to be integrated into the mythos in some fashion or another... I just want a really well made and likeness heavy version of Leader One and Cy-Kill as characters... hmmm, maybe even cy-Kill can be Starscream's henchman and partner in crime, with his own dasterly plans of taking over the Decepticons as well.. the "Animated" toyline would be a great avenue to exploit those characters as to bring them into the cartoon for reintroduction into the universe and TV...I bet those guys would be very sought after characters, considering it would be the first time they have shown up in their originally presented format since the 80s..with updated forms ta boot!! Plus we really need a cool villainess like the Baroness from Gi-Joe, and not just Black Arachnia, but Crasher as well... a female and feme fatal bot that lives in the fast lane of destruction!!
Then I think a Transformers/Go Bots section would be plausible here on seiberrtron, because you could have the past Tonka lines, but the updated stuff that concerns the actual Transformers Mythos and toylines would lend validity to their integration into the universe of Transformers.. hasbro really squashed hope that I had during Armada when Leader One was made just a lowly Minicon for Megatron, and not an updated Jet with a similar likeness to his former self...likewise the playskool line under the namne Transformers Gobots really didn't have a collector impact because of the style and market of the Transformers and the toys themselves..
I think it is high time, that GoBots fans get a "Jetfire Classics" type of Homage to the once great and cool leaders of the gobots Guardians and Renegades...the faction names should be integrated as "special Forces team" into the Autobot Factions and Decepticon factions...the term Go-Bot could be used to describe their particular function within the Transformer Hiearchy..
"Go-Bot" in Cybertronian speak would be similar to that of the designation "Marine" in our toungue, they are called Go-Bots because they are the first to "GO" into battle and the first Transformers to "GO" to a new world and act as scouts or spies, or espionage agents..
just a way to explain the concept and names being integrated for use in the future by Hasbro.. someone at their company really needs to look into this...

I just bought a GOBOT called Puzzler from BBTS. Gobots are interesting, but haven't been so enough, until this guy, a yellow countach lamborghini.
I couldn't pass on it, could I...(Tigertracks = yellow version of Sideswipe a countach of course).

Ah, Pocket(ok, Gobots had some bad names). I have him, and half of Puzzler. I should complete him someday. That is one thing that's good about Puzzler from the looks of it, there are no extra parts, they're all built in. And the face just screams Sunstreaker:

I love the commentary from Robot-Japan's reviews of them....sooooo true.
http://www.robot-japan.com/Gallery/Bandai/MachineRobo/
"Ok, ok. So you don't want to admit that you like Go-bots, right? Real men love Transformers, handy guys like diecast, BIG dudes love Jumbos, artsy men love vinyl, and techies love plastic bots. Women are allowed to love The Go -smile-. So, we have a dilemma. To love a Go-bot is equivalent to driving a Morris Mini, wearing a pink Polo , breeding toy poodles, and having a small tool set. Right?
Wrong. Go-bots deserve respect. There is something to distilling all the best qualities of your favorite car or plane into a toy solder transformer. For about $5.00 kids of the 80's could amass a small army that could fit in your lunch box. Machine robos have always had a power of numbers and realism.
Would you believe that the MR series was hugely successful in Japan? True. Would you believe that Gobots outsold Transformers for a while? Fact. Tonka imported for Bandai in the 80's. According to an Tonka exec, had Tonka done a better job of marketing they could have outsold Transformers in 1984. Tonka didn't market well, mistimed their toy supplies, and dropped the ball. For a few months Tonka had the lead. Go-bots could have had a better fate and more respect.
But the ice age could have never ended, The Mona Lisa could have had a straight nose, and Monkeys could have ruled the world. We just will never know what could have happened. I am appreciative that Tonka even imported these Fig-Newton sized bots. The outsides are crisp in design and on the inside is an addictive fluid center.
Bandai's Machine Robos, a.k.a. Go-Bots deserve respect."

Still I love those rocklords and gobots all the same, I really feel hasbro has a cool subject that either should be launched as it's own series, or be fully integrated into their transformers lines, and bring us reasonably similar homages to the more popular characters we loved from back in the day...

Ahhhhh Nostalgia:

I read some harsh close minded comments on here,
but don't waste your time ignore them man.
the story line you came up for them when you were a kid,
awesome! toys back then gave us fantasy worlds to explore.
I think Rock Lords are geat bold concept. The construction
is not that good so I would love to see a improved remake.
Solitare, sticks and stones are truly unqiue and spectacular
designs.
thanx for the link!

People will knock Go-Bots...that's what we're going to have to deal with. However, I have to say...their combiners beat the crap out of TFs any day.
No pieces to lose, posable, and they actually looked like a robot with normal proportions. Not like TF combiners where one arm had the head of shark sticking out, while the other side was a...Blot. (Whatever that is...)
Don't get me wrong. I love TFs first and foremost. I even love the TF combiners, but this is one time Tonka/Bandi/Go-Bots/Machine Robo got their crap right. Their combiners are top notch. Fo' shizzle.

Well I went and nabbed the other five to see what this is all about. So I should be able to complete the 'car' puzzler when I have them all sent.
