  You just took off AOE Optimus's backpack? Nice. Looks pretty awesome that way, too bad he becomes a partformer.

And thanks for sharing those Metroplex photos. I have seen many reffer to the toy as FOC Metroplex but he doesnt look anything close to the game model. He is much more of a dead ringer for the G1 model, especially the chest area.

I believe that's actually the Dual Model Kit AOE Optimus, which has no backpack (or altmode).

I've got the SDCC version of Metroplex, and while it's awesome, I feel a tinge of regret that I didn't wait for the Takara Tomy release instead. The extra paint apps (not just stickers) and the tampograph on Scamper look fantastic. I also love the use of more white plastic where Hasbro used black instead. It makes it look that much more G1 to me. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side? I hope Takara reissues Metroplex sometime soon, especially considering that Fortress Maximus will be coming out in just a few short months.

Those are some great pics of Metroplex, Logan79. They make me want Takara's Metroplex even more! >.<

Really, though, I love your photography skills. Using the Legends/Legion sized figures really makes Metroplex come alive as a "city." I'm tempted to pull my Metroplex off the shelf and play around with some of my old Legends class figures as well.

If you take requests, there is something I was looking for. It was a comparison between the takara unite warriors technobots and hasbro combiner wars technobots compared with the show for their alt modes and robot modes. I had started something a while back but that was before the coloured images were released.

William-james, in this thread, I will use my models pics for the comparisons; but I will gradually try gladly to satisfy your kind request.

The one benefit the Unite Warriors version has over the Combiner Wars one as far as fiction is concerned is that the UW one is guaranteed to be in continuity with the Japanese G1 cartoon timeline, whereas with the CW one there is no telling what fiction, if any at all, that one might pertain to.

Comparisons Between Transformers Combiner Wars and Unite Warriors Computron with Animation and Comic

Postby william-james88 » Mon May 02, 2016 5:04 pm

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Fellow Seibertronian Logan79 has been doing a bunch of comparisons between toys and how those characters looked in the G1 cartoon. This gives a sense of the evolution of the the character designs and what elements are still present. Today, he compiled a comparison between every component of Combiner Wars Computron and Unite Warriors Computron with their look in the G1 show and their comic design. This seemed like fun information and comparisons to share seeing as how there has never been a time where we have seen such a difference between releases of the same character by the two sister companies at the same time. Just to note, while the stock photos were used, the Hasbro Afterburner actually shares the same headsculpt as Takara's and this was seen on the Botcon show floor.

I fair balance of pros and cons on each side, I'd say. Lightspeed is the biggest extreme: CW has the better mold, but a shameful, downright shameful paint job. Seriously, what's with all the white?

Each figure has its own strengths and weaknesses as does Computron. The more I see of this set the more I want one of them.

I'd love to get my hands on both and do some swapping around.

Great pics, thanks for sharing Logan ;)^

It's too hard for me to decide. Individual bots clearly goes to UW in my opinion but in combined mode i'm leaning towards CW.
Nosecone looks better to me as a limb on the Hasbro version. It's a very hard decision for me. I like the hands and feet on CW Computron quite a bit. Takara needs to use the new hands and feet and i'd be 100% sold.

Ultimately i fear that i may have to get both. #-o

Or i can cherry pick the individual bots like UW lightspeed and Strafe but of course there is of course the issues of head sculpts aswell. UW wins in that department too.

Ugh.....Like i said, the decision is too hard for me.

It's so strange how they each went such different paths with Strafe and Nosecone. Usually the difference between Hasbro and Takara is how fancy the paint job got.

I rather like CW Nosecone and Afterburner, the lack of red/white helps them stand out amongst other Autobots.
