RN on an accute surgical ward. Mostly dealing with elderly, crazy people and stupid people. Actually, mostly just stupid people.

Perks of the job include, low pay, cheap coffee, idiot colleagues and back pain. ^__^

Actually, it is really cool to see bones poking out of people, squeezing giant boil things, and finding medical maggots crawling over the neighbouring patient's pillow at 2 in the morning!

I work at a University as an Information Technology Professional but basically I work with GIS (geographic information systems) to help government (DEQ/DNR/etc) and local groups map invasive species observations for treatment and removal.

Truth. I know quite a few carers, professional and circumstantial. That's a job no on-paper credentials qualify you for, the soul has to be there, paycheck or not - it's a real labour of love. :BOWDOWN:

I used to work as a physical trainer at a physical therapy clinic. Needed more pay so back in Nov '14 I got a job at a call center for a financial provider company mostly based in life insurance. I loved my old job with all my heart. To be frank I quite hate my current job, however I am truly grateful to God to have a steady pay check and benefits for my wife and baby son. My passion project is to write and illustrate a graphic novel of sorts in collaboration with my brother in law. Hope it works and if not I am praying to God that I can get admitted to a physical therapy program.

Here in Syracuse, NY they seemingly do. Mainly I wanted the job for the medical benefits coverage provision for my family.

Won't fault you for that. I'm sure many of us would do the same thing.

Just think it's a pretty sad world we live in where a job that many would consider to be nothing more than unwanted spam over the telephone (not sure of what it is you do exactly but no offense is intended) pays more than a job that actually helps people physically (and no doubt mentally)

Exactly! I wouldn't mind getting into a field where I can help, (at one time I contemplated becoming an Ambulance officer) but you have to be able to afford to live, otherwise, who's going to help you?
Definitely not the Australian Government. They're too damn backward and have no idea what life is like for a typical Australian.

Couldn't agree more w both of you. Fortunately it's an incoming call center where people ask for information concerning their retirement plans. The thing I hate most about it is telling people that the IRS has restrictions imposed on their funds. And I understand ( to an extent) the legalities, tax rules, and corporate attempts to make money but when I engage a client who simply needs the money to prevent eviction my heart really goes out to them. (Whew) Feels good just to vent about it even just a little. Thanks for hearing me out.
