Wow. That was a rather dickish response to a curious question. I mean, you put up a thread bragging about how he was the first individual character to reach 1 million total XP, one would asume you'd make him the first to go level 4, since he's 1/3rd over the entry level for a quick in to the level.

Dag nabbit, there is no way to post this without possibly offending but, sorry, the maths don't add up. A Medium Vehicle breaks into Level 4 with multiple upgrades with less than 1 million XP...

That's really the question the community has; we all can forecast builds for certain XP levels (calculator is my friend) and (a) we see the the stats for the top scorers, (b) we can guess the tactics, but (c) there's still mongo unspent XP.

So, for the sake of discussion with the top scoring characters, what strategy is being employed that leaves that much unspent XP? If you see my first post in this thread, I'm clearly not suggesting crap builds either.

Ya'll got me curious; if someone gets hurt it's your fault for making me think!!!

Yes, beign a level 4, you'll give others more xp, but so what? It's a petty minded player who goes, 'Im gonna stifle my team's growth just to hold back others'. Simple fact is, with the tiny number of level 4s right now, anybody who goes level 4 *has* to have an advantage, becuase they have more stats than virtully anybody else they will meet.

I know, for a fact, if I had the xp, I would be level 4.
You have braged on and on about how awesome you are, prove it. Stop bragging about missions where your tfs with bountiful xp crush tfs with a fraction of that xp, and grow some balls.
[/rant]

You see, this is what really killed Tekka early on.

I technically can't L4 as of this post, and if I could, I wouldn't right now. Burn said it best - let people play the way they want to play. I don't think I'm going to go past a million xp without L4ing, but for the build I have in mind, I probably will level up at around the 800k-870k mark. That's if I don't decide to get Battle Blades, which are quite tempting.

I agree. The simple fact remains that not enough Autobots have leveled up to make it worthwhile to upgrade to level 4. There is ONE Autobot leveled to 4. There are at least 3 more 'Bots that can be upgraded, minimum.

And as Chronic noted, even some of the most vocal proponents FOR upgrading choose to downgrade when they see upgrading does not, in fact, benefit them. :P

Nope he has strafe 7. ram 2 atm so won't need much more xp to upgrade ram to 3 and get L4, should get it today maybe even after the next mission he is in.

Hey guys,

I haven't been following up on the HMW forums and Absolute Zero was kind enough to let me know about this discussion.

I really do appreciate the effort that was made to bring us the level 2-4 missions. At the time, it was my passion to make Supercruise http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/character.php?character_id=84717 number one. He was my only bot capable of leveling up at the time and I immediately took advantage of it.

However, at the time there were relatively very few L2 Autobots. Almost every L4 mission I joined I was outnumbered at least 2 to 1. My progress to overtake Buzzaw ground to a halt. Worse, I found myself losing ground despite the fact I was almost playing the game 24/7. I would wake up in the middle of the night to put my bots on missions with my IPhone (yes, I know, pathetic). It was also about that time that I realized that the game is unbalanced and that having high ram and strength gives you a big advantage. I downgraded Supercruise to L3 and changed him into a heavy vehicle and was eventually able to overtake Buzzsaw (also because GS stopped playing so much). Since the heavy vehicle alt form has only one special ability, it takes much more XP to increase to the next level.

I kept Supercruise and Magnus at L3 because...well...I am a selfish bastard. The are both 8 ram and 8 strength. It is a devastating combination, allowing them to win arena battles virtually every time. Often they incur very little damage, allowing me to quickly put them back into the arena again. It is quite profitable from an XP standpoint. Since there were virtually no L4 cons, I chose to keep mine at L3 so I could continue to fight in the arena.

However, since I have accomplished my main goal and I suspect HMW2 is just around the corner, I will go ahead and Level up some of my bots to L4. Perhaps with enough L4s we can have more L4 arena matches:

First L4 bout ever?
http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/view_arena.php?arena_id=57854

Supercruise just finished a mission so I will go ahead and upgrade him now.

Oh, someone mentioned trying to be the first 3K mission? Ultra Magnus actually almost did that. So close:

http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/view_mission.php?mission_id=19296

Thanks guys. It has been fun playing. Although, I suspect that I have made a bunch of enemies due to the way I exploited the arena to my advantage. :) I probably will get my come up'ns on HMW2.

You're quite right. I reset 8 of 12 bots because their configs just weren't able to handle the bulk of level 3 arena fighters. Something about strafers not being able to do anything in the arena against guys with 6-8 strength. No fears though. The only ones likely to be stuck there for a while are the single tactics.

Galvatron Supreme wrote:And as Chronic noted, even some of the most vocal proponents FOR upgrading choose to downgrade when they see upgrading does not, in fact, benefit them. :P

What was it you told me when I asked about Buzzsaw's config? Oh yes "Play your team and I'll play mine" fact of the matter is, because you and the other should be level 4s were beating honest and low level 3s like me all the time, I switched from strafe to ram. Unfortunatly, the cookie cutter config that works well against Otago and Conjurous and the other honestly high level 3s required more XP then I had anticipated, so when I get everyone below 300k back to 300k, the dual tactic alts will go back to three, and as better dual tactic alts come available through rotation, I'll switch the singles back to duals. Not that I should have to explain anything to a hypocrit. ^_^

Alright knock it off all of you.

Everyone is entitled to play their team anyway they see fit, and configure their bots however they want, unless of course it's violating one of the game rules in which case you should contact one of the Mods directly and offer up some evidence.

Now I say this as a player not a Mod. It's great that people are starting to level up, but come on, quit being selfish and get out of the arena and into missions. This benefits the game as you give your faction some higher powered backup and you give your opposition a chance to earn some better xp, better opposition = more fun.

Unless of course you really don't care about anything and you're content to become a bunch of elitists hiding in the arena slapping each other around and beating your chests about how great you are. :P

I'm a devote mission player without any missions to do. I don't enjoy being one of 5 Preds to gangbang a single level 0 Maxi honestly. I still check missions every deployement for the odd one where the Maxi's show up, and the Preds are actually out numbered.

No, you just have no problem telling other people to stay out of your business while butting into theirs. That's ok though. And your arguement is rubbish. You have nothing to worry about going up in levels, and you have enough XP on some of your characters to build a level 4 and another level 3, and still have it be higher then the bottom half of my entire team, and until about 2 weeks ago, you had no one above you. And hey look, the top character in the game is now a level 4.

But since you're dieing to know, the bottom of my team I rushed to level 3, and they had just gotten there within the last week for the most part (Jadewind got there before Ryujin, Fiend, and Shiro which is kinda funny since she's been holding up the bottom of my team for a while) and I discovered that Avoiding Repair bots don't fair so well against tanks. Ah well. Maybe they will in V2 eh?

And since you're also you know, my hero, I decided to play like you play. ^_^ No worries though, I lack the patience to play exactly like you do, so AZ wont clone GS entirely or forever.

I dont care why any of you choose to keep your guys back a level - it doesnt matter. I wanted to try and challenge a few of the higher guys to level-up to make the game more fun for all, and celebrate that fact that L4 is a hell of an achievement for a game that has only been running since October, and RoS has taken the challenge (yay!).

Now your lovers tiff means you'll have to find your level 4's by searching for them and hoping they still want to level up. This thread is over.
