The other gent mentioned something about a TF2 server, so I assumed he plays PC, where that game is generally more popular than it's console version.
So if he did play PC, I was saying I can't speak for quality of PC players - as I have zero experience on that medium of gameplay.

It started pretty good, but after this past weekend with the double xp, all hell broke loose. I have not had a single good experience over the past weekend. I can't stay alive for 2 seconds no matter what class or config I play as. I'm getting pummeled down without any help or cover from my team. Some matches people didn't even try for the node and just went killing each other. Some even had my team not even able to capture over 70 points.
I play scout and scientist. I prefer scientist, and seem to last longer by being more of a sniper/gunman from a distance. But no one wants that, they say my job is to heal. You can't make a difference like that though when you don't play as a team. I can't survive or capture points by myself. If I rush in, I die because my aim isn't great and I'm kinda slow (but I'm trying!) So I'm kinda stuck like that.
At least before that matches were somewhat even, but after this weekend I've spent most of my time in Escl. I try to learn, I know I'm not great, but I just can't figure out how to swing things in my favor atm. Cause all I can do atm is look out for myself first and team second at this rate.
Sorry for the long rant, I've just been struggling with this all weekend. I wish someone would release more tutorials or something cause I think I may be missing something about my role

I have found my biggest asset is to truly understand what your weapons, abilites and upgrades are capable of doing...and timing them. Most pvp gamers go in and hack-n-slash. But if you can keep your cool and time your abilities just right you can do awesome. Ever since writing down each of my character builds I've done a little better because I know what my current toon is equipped with.
My biggest kick in the tailpipe is when my keys get stuck or I get confused what button to push. I game on the computer and my keyboard is cordless. I couldn't tell you how many bad words came sputtering out of my mouth because of those two problems.
I must also admit I'm jealous of those players who seem naturally really good at this kind of thing. I've encountered gamers who jump around like grasshoppers and shoot the energon out of me with no problem. IT'S NOT FAIR!!
But with practice and a calm head I believe ANY gamer can improve.
But regarding sucky teammates, yea, there are players who don't know what they are doing. They walk into a game thinking it's a mad dash to get the most kills but I think that only applies to Deathmatch. With Team Deathmatch and Node Capturing I've found success comes best with teamwork.
So far my best game score-wise is in the 2300+ (1 match so far) and my best kill/death ratio has been 10 to 1. I've had one game with 11 kills and some games my deaths accounted for half the required amount.
Shadowman wrote:I play Team Fortress 2 on PC because the console version is for chumps. (Not to derail or anything but we did just get our ninth new weapons set) That doesn't mean I play WfC on PC as well.
That said, how does playing PC online somehow alter the skill compared to those who play console games online?

We were doing great in escalation until you ditched me!

keman wrote:I rented this as funds are tight, but am really enjoying it. I've yet to find a group of people who play together (at least on my teams) and I get owned. My role in most games is meat shield. I run out and draw fire while my teammates get the kills. I do love playing as the scientist role and on escalation it is fun to fly in and grab a point and then fly into another point and keep going. maybe I'm just playing wrong???
