If we told you who was telling us this, then he/she would get in trouble and then we wouldn't get anything. It's either info from an anonymous source, or no info at all.

Let me start by apologizing, my "Watergate" remark was a bit snide.

Second, I understand the need to protect identities. But the problem lies in that Seibertron is presenting information as fact without providing readers any information to corroborate it.

With all the bogus information flying around (and let's be honest, this is the Internet), Seibertron could provide a little more context for the information. For example: Why is the information coming to light only now - what's the occasion? Can anyone else confirm the authenticity of the report? Is there hard evidence to support it?

When you read this post make beleive things are exploding.

*Explosion!*
Its not like it matters one way or the other. Whether Bay chooses an Ipod, pogo stick, soft serve machine, Blu-Ray player or satellite it will still likely not resemble any Soundwave that we would recognize.
*End Explosion*

I'm happy we're getting Soundwave.

The satelite alt mode idea is growing on me... I'm starting to think it's a very nice choice. I am interested though to see what ravage and/or laserbeak will be like or whatever his minions will be.

The pick-up truck idea. Well... he can't really use the satelite thing very well on earth to fall under the "robots in disguise". So... if he is to have an alt mode on earth, he'll need something. I don't know why a pick-up but I'll reserve my judgement for the movie when it comes out.

I trust I'll be happy.

I'm thankful for most of what Bay does (and also the writers) for the movie universe of TF.

Well I'm not saying that he should be a cassette recorder because that would be kind of useless in this day and age, but I was kind of hoping he would be some sort of communications vehicle and that Ravage and his other partners would be some communication equipment.

And if he is a satellite he should have another altmode so that he'd have something to disguise himself on earth. I just hope that he doesn't just stay in space and not transform the whole frikin' movie, I wanna see Soundwave kickin some Autobot tailpipe here.

Oh and a cosmic fail is the only thing bigger than an epic fail, for those of you who were wondering.

Tim worked off his ass with that, even into making a toy of it. The alt is fine, ugly, but makes sense for a military vehicle to match with other cons. Not to mention it's a comm. vehicle, gee, I wonder?
Soundwave? It just doesn't work!
You're entitled to your own opinion, but until you make some better, you don't just slander someone elses work like that. Show your great works, and I'll listen. (That wasn't sarcasm, really.)
BTW, did a concept Corvette, Camaro, Beat, Trax, Tank, f-22 raptor, or Alien jet make much more sense as a "disguise?"

First off, I could give a rats ass how long it took. It's crap wrapped in fail. The alt. mode is a hideous SUV with a satelite dish tacked on the top, doesn't look like a well thought out comm vehicle to me. The bot mode is G1 fan wank, which gets annoying to see that people are still thinking that any G1 style designs are getting into the movie universe, NOT GONNA HAPPEN, so just get over it. Could I do better, no, I don't do computer renders, but I know what I like and dislike and I don't like that render, it's crap. And if you weren't gonna listen to what I had to say, why'd you respond instead of keepin' your mouth shut.

Oh, and to answer your other question, save for the alien jet, because I assume you watched the first film and you realize that Megatron didn't take an earth mode, the others did/do say "Robots in Disguise" because they're more plausible alt modes. Especially because they really exists.

Lol I think it's a cool idea.

But I have to say it's kind of ironic in my opinion.

I mean think about it a character who originally transformed into a radio and who's major perpose is to make sound and noises and even has the word sound in his name is put in a postion where sound is no longer possible.

That first sentence loses me..I don't remember saying I wouldn't listen......
Yes, the alt modes are more plausible, but still. When you see something like a tank or a concept car, big honking TopKick, you really don't just sit there and look away, unless you're either looking at godzilla or just hate cars....and military vehicles...
And of course Ratchet. I'll let you use your imagination on that one. :P

As for Soundwave, think about it. The military needs armored vehicles if the need to go into some sort of hostile territory. Plus, loads of comm devices all over would really kinda, you know, stick out. I mean, it could be better, but, however "well thought out" it may not appear to be, it makes sense for what its designation is.
As for the robot, I really can't say I agree. it's mostly the head and weapons. I'm not looking at it now, but I'm also sure the cannon on his shoulder is there. That just looks good on almost anyone.
I'm not saying i care if it looks like G1 or not, because it isn't a G1 movie. i mean, it doesn't really matter, um, at all. As long as it makes money I can't say many people working on it really care.
All I'm trying to say is "do better, than bitch."
Heck, just tell me your idea. I mean, that can do a lot.

Good choice, I think given all the choices this fits him best, I drew a satellite version of him a while back an posted it on deviantart, prob no where near as good as he will look - but ya get the idea :)

OK...I'm surprised at the number of people who have accepted this alt mode (allegedly). Here's a quick idea.

Suppose Soundwave isn't just a communications satellite? He can be any type really and still perform his function. I'm going to surmise he is more SPACE STATION than actual satellite (allegedly). If this is the case, minions are easy to explain: they simply change into pods to attach to the station mode and detach when needed. It would make an interesting toy too as he could transform into almost a play-set type of deal...and he could have FAR more than just one minion.

I also like the idea of a triple-changer- someone else mentioned this earlier and I thought it was a brilliant idea. They did say we'd see different "species" and you could consider a triple changer one type. So he could change from a satellite (allegedly) to something else for ground combat to robot. That seems, actually, pretty likely.

Of course this is all speculation until it's confirmed. :-? :-? :-?

could work i suppose but whats the story with ravage and laserbeak and co?

presumeably theyd get ejected from him in space and undergo planet fall. that could be cool as if he's in orbit that means he can deploy troops anywhere on the planet within minutes.

it does seem to limit him though. after all how often were blast off and cosmo just seen floating in space doing nothing?

that was prety much their roles.

i suppose it'll make more sense when we actually get to see it and hey at least he's still something to do with communications.

I think we can all agree a soft serve machine is the best choice. And not one of those cheap buffet ones. A nice ice cream shop model that only uses whole milk and filtered ice AND can do the Vanilla/Chocolate twist.

A satellite? Ummmm....not gonna happen. Why?

1) Hasbro won't go for a toy that has a alt mode that can't be played with. The idea of this reminds me of the scene in the movie "Big" when a building is proposed as a toy. L-A-M-E

2) Poor disguise - it doesn't blend in with anything. can't see it from earth....and the 3 countries with satellites in orbit might notice something amiss if that's floating around.

3) It would have no interaction in battle. military jets, 'copters, cars, tanks...yes. An orbiting satellite...no. I don't picture a satellite kicking anyone's ass.

4) And the minions...the potential Ravage, etc we've heard about? What are they going to be? Solar panels and space junk?

5) Bay - Bay goes for the action....the fast, the eye popping, jaw dropping action. A satellite goes in a freaking circle around the effin earth. You might as well say Soundwaye is going to be a wheat field.

Soundwave will be some sort of military communication vehicle. Most likely he will be land-based, but has the possibility to be air-based (i.e. military communications jet Boeing KC-135). But not a satellite.

Soundwave's Alternate Mode Revealed

Postby jenilopaz » Mon Oct 13, 2008 5:32 am

Soundwave is technology gone wrong. Machines are superior to humans more logical, more intelligent, and longer lasting. It does not compute that humans control their robotic helpers, and Soundwave aims to lead the robot proletariat to rise against their fleshling bourgeoisie. The Decepticon cause is logical in Soundwave's optics, and he joined them in the hopes of overthrowing the human/capitalist oppressors. With an army of subservient mechanoids that he can control through powerful signals, that uprising just might be possible.

In the ORIGINAL series and comic, yes. But remember this isn't G1. The writers may use him in a different way.

That's the problem. Operating in space while the others duke it out on Earth. By the time he enters the atmosphere to join the action, the fight may well be over. And then, when he drops in, the problem will again go back to, "what alt mode on the ground should he scan?" Walking around in satellite mode may not be a good idea.

Name may not connect. Blackout's name didn't connect to his vehicle mode, just his EMP abilities. Bumblebee's name didn't connect at all to his movie persona...it's just a derivative of his G1 character's alt mode. But TFW's source has been off a few times too...there are a lot of "what ifs" involved. This is all speculation until we get a varification.

Yes. The reason why Bumblebee's Camaro was designed to transform so complicatedly, that it's almost impossible to produce it accurately in the toy (unless it's in a very large scale), was because of the goal of giving him a semblance to a bee. Both the color and the wings. I could say, the head design too.

Blackout was the EMP. Shown very early in the film to justify the name, before the image of the Helicopter sinks in.

Ratchet was the repair-bot function.

Jazz was the cool hip Black American persona. (Origin of Jazz music being from African American.)

Ironhide, the toughie with thick-skinned muscular truck.

Prime, of course, is the leader.

Barricade, a defensive barrier often employed by the police.

Brawl, war-like violence. He was even originally named "Devastator" for the devastating effect of the tank.

Scorponok, the scorpio.

Bonecrusher, with the entended arm thing that "can crush bones" sort of idea.

Frenzy, the crazy annoying quick-moving out-of-control deranged little prick.

Starscream, something to do with the sky and screaming speed, i guess.

Megatron, nothing to fit his name. Hence, the difficulty of designing him, the problem of choosing alt mode. Basically, he's a freelance.

Now comes Soundwave. There must be something to tie his name in. Maybe loud boomboxes in the pickup. Or some communication equipment of the truck.
