Weapon: Diffraction Sword

Okay, either I missed it or no one's mentioned this yet.
In the film, when John Voight's character is asking about the virus that Frenzy planted, one of the guys tells him "it's a spiderbot virus." Does that scream Tarantulas to anybody else? I just thought it was cool.
