But it does indeed look rather like the NX-01 with the Engineering Crossbar removed.
The Franklin is possibly even smaller than Defiant though internal space wise it's to early to say it's longer or shorter.
I guess we will have to wait for the Movie to see if the Franlin is a single deck ship or not if it is then volume wise it may be smaller than most ships we've seen - obviously still much larger than a Runabout or the Delta Flyer but still by any normal comparison pretty tiny.
I know some people say it's like a Romulan warbird because of the layout but I'd say you can use that comparison because of the size too.
The first things that popped into my mind when I saw it were the wingmen Romulan Craft from the Mirror Universe in Enterprise and the NX-01 of course.
Though the FASA inspiration is there too of course (as shown in the video above).

Spock illustrates why he is the smartest man to ever come out of Starfleet.
It featured Joan Collins. I would have taken her back to the future, or stayed in the past with her. I would not have let her die.

If I take her back to the future she could not start the passivist movement.
If I stay in the past with her, I'll tell her not to become an activist for peace. I'll explain to her the rise of Hitler caused by her taking certain actions and playing the passivitst leader role.
It did not look like Kirk blocked McCoy from saving her. Rather it looked like McCoy grabbed Kirk and stopped him from running out into the street to save her. I don't think that scene was very clear.

and even if you could, you would run the risk of changing history in a dozen different ways that could make matters worse

Anyways, I get the feeling the final fight will take place in the Enterprise saucer. Likely they are trying to tag the parts for transport back to the outpost since it's confirmed all parts are intact. The saucer is the only part confirmed that fell to the planet.
I highly doubt we'll see an NCC-1701-A yet. Enteprise must establish her legacy same with Kirk. And only one man has the right to truely destroy the Enterprise. That man is James T. Kirk.

That kinda flies in the face of all the crap he gave towards people complaining about the Human Torch being black, or new Ghostbusters being chick's.

With Star Trek Beyond set to debut in theaters later this week, Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Bad Robot today announced that the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise will return to the big screen for another voyage in Star Trek 4. In the next installment of the epic space adventure, Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father, played by Chris Hemsworth.
Hemsworth, who appeared in 2009’s Star Trek as the character, will return to the space saga as George Kirk to star alongside Pine. The remaining cast is also expected to return. No director or release date have been confirmed for the film.
Apparently he will be doing this right after Avengers: Infinity War Part 1. So will it be another time travel story?

Just seen it....and it was great....not the best star trek film ever made! just....great
It did slow down in places, but there was still a good amount of action pieces, the special effects were as you would expect....top notch.
even the Xindi got a mention
All in all a great film(at least i enjoyed it anyway
