Some folks on my Twitter timeline are not to thrilled with the idea of a Stargate reboot - but considering what a Cluster**** StarGate Universe was I'm prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt.
I'll ponder a bit about what a reboot would mean 'if' it was a TV show....(which it isn't).
Seems a bit to early for a reboot though, If they did it in a clever way like the way Mitchell lived an alternative life in one of the DVD Movies so the new show is an actual Daughter Universe then I won't have any problem at all with it - that is part of the Show's DNA after all.
But the idea of someone else being Samantha Carter & Jack O'Neil makes me feel Antsy. Especially when I look at the current Style of TV of that type like Arrow and how Teen-centric it all is. and how a similar sarcastic Lighthearted (& occasionally Violent) shows like Constantine or Continuum got thrown under a bus.. is a worry that anything they make wouldn't have much more impact that Stargate Universe.
Anyway I won't pre-judge it yet, I will however remain mildly sceptical until I see a bit more of it... It is a shame though as Stargate Atlantis showed that a Spin-off in the same Universe can be made to work just fine if they went that route... But I do understand as they did pretty much defeat every villain they could find to fight in those shows.
And if they make just a Movie instead then - no I wouldn't really care at all. as the TV show pretty much demolished the memory of the Movie to most people anyway.
However there isn't any sign of a new TV show yet and This site says it's a 3 part Movie series planned :
http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:46237Well if Independence day 2 falls flat on it's Face I don't expect any Sequel/reboot to Stargate to happen at all. - I did actually read the original Novel sequels to the Movie and they are not horrible - I actually like the Movie Version of Daniel (jack not so much) - and a Stargate with no Sam or T'ealc is just well weird - but they likely wouldn't feature either.
Talk about throwing a franchise under a bus - oh well as I said before Stargate is the sort of thing friendly to the idea of Alternative Universes so I guess one can approach it like that.
