well this is odd... I just got a Legends Shockwave on Amazon.com for 10.99. I know that's regular price, but considering everywhere else has him 2-3X retail, I think it was a good deal. Too bad they only had one at that price. In fact if you still go there now, it shows the 10.99 one, but when you click on see all items, it is gone...

Not to sound like a noob, but how do rainchecks work. Are you basically telling me that I can walk into a store and (if the item is listed in the database) I can reserve it like a video game at Gamestop?

It depend of the store. At TrU, you can walk in, tell the clerk that you didn't find the item you were looking for, then claim a raincheck. It's a cupon that allow you to buy the thing at the sale price at a later date. IF they have it. Rainchecks have an absurd longevity. About 60 to 90 days in fact. Once again, it depend of the store.

I got such good timing this time. The Combaticon limbs finally showed up on Toysrus.ca yesterday (Thursday) and I ordered rightaway, then I saw that all TF figures will go on sale Friday. They're all out of stock by midday Friday. So I just have to wait until my order get delivered (probably Monday) then I can bring them to a brick&mortar TRU store to get a price match for 25% off! Woohoo!

Or you can just grab as many figures you think you need, don't open them, and wait & hope before the return deadline(30 days @TRU? 60 days @Walmart? I don't remember...) the figures you want are widely available, then exchange them. If the figures still don't show up, just return them. All you waste is time & gas...

I preordered and paid the full price for Devastator at TrU.ca. A month and a half later, they did a big sale on all TFs above 30$. I didn't even had to lift my ass from my sofa. All I had to do was to call them with my bill # and around 60$ was refunded.

Thats right you did news it. Them saying it wasnt out yet messed with my circuits, sorry. But man, its too bad they got wise on us getting rainchecks for figures that arent out yet. Not that I want to think I can move mountains, but do you think this article might have affected this.

When I got the raincheque for MP SS I don't recall them saying anything specific about it being on pre-order, just that it wasn't available yet or something. Whereas with Menasor, their system said "pre-order" loud and clear, and my lady even tried to add it to the list but it wouldn't let her. Perhaps just different circumstances eh Will?

Makes sense. Goodwill (the seller's retail chain) bought a huge shipment of these and was selling them for that price at their stores. I recomend anyone who is interested to get this gorgeous set, it is worth more than that price. I paid 100$ for it shipped and though that was totally fair.
