My point was that it would be a reasonable expectation for them to make money with the new product, since most people would at least give it a try. And in this case, they know they would sell an Ark-load of G1 Jetfires. Most of the fandom would want 1, I imagine, even those who care little about G1. Not to mention Macross fans. It was a pretty remarkable figure back in the day. As for the Pepsi/Coke thing, I just remembered New Coke...

G1 Jetfire still hold up even by today's standards.
If you don't care about the armor, it can be found at a decent price easily.

Some years ago, I was damn lucky to have found mine 100% complete with the box, foam, and everything for less than 125$CAN shipped!
For some bizarre reason, I was the only bidder on that Canadian listing.

The thing is, Bandai wouldn't want a toy of their most iconic Macross mech design being sold in a major toyline owned by their biggest rival. Bandai would want ALL the money from Jetfire and rightfully so since it's their intellectual property.

I think people are getting their wires crossed. For transformers, they said more transformers news at "a fan first friday sometime in may", with no specific date. Whereas the star wars panel said there would be a SW FFF first friday in may, in celebration of may the 4th. These are most likely two seperate FFF's.

Yeah, seems that either tomorrow, or the 7th would be dedicated to SW being so close to the 4th.
Fingers crossed we get some good TF stuff on the 14th, but I wouldn't doubt if it happens on one of the last two Fridays of the month.
With no interest in the BW figures, I'm ready for more SS86 and post-Kingdom stuff!!

If this does end up being a throne and not a platform, it will probably have to fold or be pieced together.
A platform really may be better...
Think about this-- a throne will have to be short enough so that Ss's feet touch the ground/floor while seated.
Doesn't seem right that a leader's throne would make him look small, weak, or child-like, right?
I guess they could compensate that and make the back taller and ornate to appear more grand...
But as many pointed out a while ago... There was no throne in the movie, and this subline seems to be all about sticking to that story including details like the Dinobots not having swords.

It's interesting... SS86 has helped me gain some trust in Hastak's approach to figures.
But add-in's, accessories, etc... Because they're always secondary and still so tightly tied to budget contraints that instead of icing, they're bland filler.

So with word that Perceptor and at least one variant of Wreck-gar will be released in 2022,
anyone think this subline is going to last all of next year?

*fingers crossed for Insecticons... And voyager class Blitzwing and Astrotrain figures.
I know Astrotrain was in Siege, but besides seeming 'mehh' to me personally, he never was released again in ER or Kingdom. With just a lessening of the Siege greebling, I'm assuming some if not a lot of the previous mold and engineering could be used to create a solid SS86 version.

I hope the fact that the Starscream figure is just the ER figure that the leader's additional budget goes straight to the add-in stuff. I would think they've already made their money back on the mold but who knows.

Astrotrain was in the Wave 1 Leader case with Prime. In fact he was suppose to debut in Earthrise but Hasbro brought him forward to put in Siege wave 5 (along with many others)

Some fun speculation I've read is that it would be nice if Hasbro actually modelled the throne of Megatron's from the Nemesis. A good way to get a Prop in for a more fitting character.

Also, the throne could turn out to be like SDCC Power of the Primes Optimal Optimus, and be folded card...

While I would be totally down for that kind of throne, since the PotP throne has held up the few years I've had it, that would be a very small cost to produce so the rest of the accessories better be cool. If the cape is the plastic, articulated kind then maybe that would work. More money in the cape than the throne.

I agree that SS could always offer up G1 characters with show-accurate aesthetics, but I'm calling SS86 a subline. It's scope most likely is going to be much smaller (since it's doubtful every character who appeared in the 86 movie will be made), and I won't doubt if SS86 ends up being a blip within SS due to the pandemic and how figures were shifted around.

Not gonna lie, the only thing that excites me about those listings (in terms of the BB movie stuff and this 86 stuff) is Junkyard, just because between us having not seen the mold yet since Wreck-Gar has yet to be revealed or leaked, and none of the Junkions actually being named in the film, they could technically make that be any of the Junkions if they wanted to and we have no idea what he's gonna look like yet and that excites me.

Actually the only characters they could do would be the movie characters (so no combiners other then Devy/Headmasters etc) since they don't technically have to stretch the definition of Studio Series with ss86 as that was still a world widely released theatrical film (and it won't even be the other animated movie in the line with the Cybertron prequel coming up). The cartoon series? That would be a different line.
