The millimetres of difference on Ironhide ... I just don't see the big deal. Them not doing it right the first time is my big problem with him. We're well into the age where voyagers are by parts count and paint. Just have to trust them that Ironhide meets that criteria.
I think Blitzwing SHOULD be shorter than Astrotrain

Yeah, you mentioned that you'd prefer the train mode to dictate his scale. I guess I'm brainwashed by the cartoon to see him as Starscream sized in bot mode and I don't have a good idea how tall a train is compared to a car. Going by alt mode size (and going off a bit more), which Starscream works best? The old leader class one? But is that one too small ... so MP?
And then you have the tank problem. I guess CW Leader Megs would be the way to go, but what about Warpath? Is there a 3P MP that's about as tall as that Megs? Don't even get started on Brawl. No Bruticus for alt mode enthusiasts.
Scale's a losing battle, but if I can get car bots that work decently in alt mode then I'm counting it as a win. I'm not rebuying everyone either. This Ironhide seems to work decently in both bot and car modes, so win. If he's a smidge too short, then I guess that's just how it is. I didn't rebuy Sunstreaker or Sideswipe and I prefer United Jazz over 86 so if Ironhide is just 'about' right I'll take it.

Scale I like to simplify things
Megatron is a small tank
The 4 arielbots and blastoff are very small mini jets.
Astrotrain is a giant
Swindle is a large jeep
Brawl and warpath are very very very small tank
Vortex just gives up, no explanation
Soundwave either size changes, is a very large cassette player, or a minicon

Emerje wrote:What's your point? The shield is an integral part of the figure, you can't complete the alt mode without it and it's part of the figure's mold. Therefore the shield is included as part of the figure's part count not as an accessory that Hasbro could leave out if they chose to.

For the perfect altmode in regard to the spy logic of Soundwave, Prime and ROTF are indeed perfect. But the DOTM car was random and was just a sponsor targeted at very rich people.
For the "classic G1" look, if a tank is perfect for Megatron, the minivan is perfect for Soundwave. Big, boxy, and fit the spy motif very well.

To keep the body design and good sense, Cyberverse has the best update. A communications truck, and the robot mode could easily be more g1nified without ruining the alt mode.a sattalie makes sense too, but the design was executed poorly, leaving soundwave looking like a freak.

I liked that the robot wasn't g1ified, not everything needs to look like that, Transformers is at its best when it innovates and tries new things (like the 07 movie).

But I also appreciate the Prime spy plane and RotF satellite. both made sense. and I liked the Prime and movie deviations from the standard design, both ended up looking very good

I still disagree about the prime drone. I dont want ALL my decepticons to fly, that makes the seekers boring.

In the G1 cartoon, all Decepticons could fly anyway.

I pretend that didn't happen. The seekers have jet boosters under their legs, but megs doesn't
Yeah, and all of them having that natural ability to fly ultimately became what distinguished the Decepticons from the Autobots in the cartoon. In "War Dawn", Orion Pax, Dion, and Ariel were all fascinated by "some new kind of robot that can fly," which were revealed to be the Decepticons.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:RodimusPrimeUkraine1 wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:In the G1 cartoon, all Decepticons could fly anyway.

That reminds me of when I first watched Beast Wars. Finding it really jarring that all the Predacons couldn't fly. It wasn't for quite some time before I discovered Sunbow was the only medium that gave all the Decepticons that blanket advantage.

Ultimately I came to appreciate the Beast Wars "flier" class. I also like how Animated flipped the Sunbow script. Giving the Autobots a derogatory view of flight modes.

Animated Sentinel Prime doesn't care about your feelings

Since when did Sentinel Prime care about ANYONE?
That scene where he shakes the humans hand and immediately spray cleans it though......
I do not want to imagine warpaths radar alternate mode.
