The green color has always irked us as he is always Grapple for us in Orange. The continuity of Hauler doesn't make sense, but he was a completely different figure, that wasn't Hook, that sided with the Autobots. Maybe he was miscoloured in the G1 episode. Irks us. Seems better in the Japanese continuity.

I am currently working on my Den, and picked up Raiden again.

I am at a crossroads with this figure. The combined mode... is just bad, the upgrades help, but it is just still not good.

Debating selling him off, or splitting them up for train modes.

God Bomber is shipping (got the standard one from Amazon Japan). So is ML Sunstreaker and Cordon. Oof. Good thing I had the MLs paid for and it looks like they're all coming in quite a bit cheaper. Now I have to wait for BBTS to ship the prototype version of God Bomber, they're saying July, but that feels optimistic.

MPG-17 Optimus Prime (Style Gen.)

Is that an MP version of Earthrise Optimus?? He even seems to have 5mm peg holes on his arms and Siege Prime's axe! This is pretty crazy. OK, so it's not really Earthrise Prime, it's a new reimagining for I guess a new "Style Generation" sub line of more articulated and complex figures at the smaller size, but it's interesting to see that some nods to War for Cybertron Trilogy in there.

I really like the concept of the new style series to make them more easily transformable, if I read the meaning of it right. I'm drawn to the new studio series as I'd like some to sit on my desk I can just transform without having to refer to the manual if I forget, so I hope these will be more like that. I've never actually transformed MP Megatron because it sounds like such a mission

Got my godbomber in, filmed an unboxing. While I was fiddling with it, his left shoulder started to break. Its the post that connects to the butterfly joint. The spring/ratchet in the shoulder , the in and out motion one, is so tight that trying to manipulate it started tearing the post its attached to (the one connected to the butterfly hinge) off. giving me big mp1 prime's exploding knees vibes. I took the shoulders apart. The springs inside were huge and very strong. too big and strong imho. I put some glue in the left post, and put some shock oil into the ratchets. This made them a little better, and I don't feel like the right one will break now. However it is just a matter of time before the left one shears off. I will go over it in more detail once I post my full review.

I would advise not using or trying to use the in and out joint at the shoulder, instead using the in and out from the butterfly/transformation joint. the shoulder is so tight it will naturally move that panel anyway. Unless you do like I did and take the shoulder apart and either use silicone oil/grease or replace the spring with a less chunky one.

I finally played around with MPG God Bomber. The guy himself is light years above and beyond the G1 original, who was just spare parts held together with hoped and dreams that were easily shattered. The MPG is a proper figure with great poseability and who is overall, pretty solid. His transformation does require a bit of partsforming, but nothing dealbreaking.

The super mode is not too bad, but God Ginrai have legs that are way, way too looooooooooooooooooooong. And as usual, the weapons are a pain to making him hold them in his hands. I don't like the sword, so it's a box-warmer.

Overall, was this set worth the almost 800$CAN total, factoring taxes and shipping? Not really, IMO, but the set is way, WAY better than the bad Titan Returns / Legends version.





Honestly, the G1 original remains unbeaten for his simplicity, overall look, and surprisingly, the price.

Tomy/Takara has provided a first "silhouette" image of the next installment of the MPG line. This time it looks like they are re-addressing the "superior" Decepticon Soundwave. The image is showing Soundwave partnered with a bird cassette, which would lead to the assumption of Lazerbeak being part of the package. No additional information is known at this time, so only speculation exists if this is a new mold, or how many cassettes will be included--- since the X posted image is shadowed, one could even argue if the bird is Lazerbeak or Buzzsaw!

Eventually it will be since we know we're getting Twincast. Though, oddly enough, the original MP Soundblaster is already in cartoon colors with the purple chest instead of the toy colors with the red chest so maybe they'll do toy colors MPG Soundblaster next.
