I am....whelmed. I missed Soundwave the first time around and have always somewhat regretted it but I was also hoping for a redux to address some of the shortcomings the original had. Maybe I just bite the bullet this time, I dunno....

I have the old Hasbro version with the yellow visor and it's a good mold that does justice to the character. I recommend it.

Thanks to Takara, we have another teaser to share with you today, that of a re-do of G1 Hot Rod / Rodimus in the MPG line!

The teaser does not offer us too much information, but a full reveal cannot be too far behind. This will be a 3rd attempt at an MP-styled Hot Rod / Rodimus, following the early Rodimus Prime and then more cartoon-inspired MP which also received a Targetmaster repaint. Time will tell if this is an improvement on those 2 figures.

I reckon a new take on Rodimus Prime is long overdue, despite me having no interest into it whatsoever. I wonder if they'll stick to the Hot Rod "evolution" gimmick or go for separate figures.

If this is a new mold then I just hope they stick to it either being a Hotrod, or a Rodimus Prime this time. That said I feel like this is just going to be another repaint of a old MP.

Another Hot Rod. I love Masterpiece, but it's beyond stale now. Just the same characters all over again. Plenty of G-1 characters left to do. Hell, plenty of Beast Wars characters to do as well.

I once owned the first MP Rodimus. It was gigantic and awkward. I was never impressed with the 2.0 version so I skipped. Will this 3.0 version finally succeed?

The only way they'll get me to purchase this is if it's a simpler transformation AND the Targetmaster is included.

Well, that's certainly a better sculpt in some ways. Not crazy about the "wings", but this is "Style Gen" like the upcoming Optimus so I guess they have a lot of liberties they can take. I doubts this will be a simple transformation, but the Style Gen series is supposed to be simpler so I guess we'll wait and see.

Very interesting. Reminds me a little too much of Commander Roddy.

Just hope it's not $350 bucks.

My Roddy shelf will need to make room for him.

Also, can't wait for comparisons to MP-28 who is now 10 Years old.

Also, also, will it come with his targetmaster Firebolt or will we have to wait for a second release to see that.
And we'll get yet another fishing rod to toss into the accessory bin never to be seen again.

One that did impress me is the stellar Studio Series voyager, who ironically is considered better than the MP 2.0. So, if this MP 3.0 is an improved version of the Studio Series figure, it may be worth it.
