Which apparently comes with a few more faces, and... a little version of Sideswipe's jetpack sized for Bumblebee? Okay...

Now, how long before third parties announce a whole new head to turn this G2 Bumblebee into G1 Goldbug? (Although the G2 faction symbol molded on his chest could make that one tricky, unless you just forgo having a clean roof for the alt mode and slap a G1 faction logo sticker on the blank side.)

You'd think with there already being a Sideswipe and now a Bumblebee, a G2 Prime would be a given... Who knows?

Not a big G2 collector myself, though. (Mainly made the post above mainly as I figured it'd be of interest to others.) Even with my Optimus Prime collection, while I have some other G2 Primes, I don't have the initial one as I kind of always just saw it as a repaint of the G1 one with a few extra accessories thrown in. (Only duplicate mold within my Prime collection is for the Pepsi Prime.)

I suppose that is an advantage to the faction symbol having been on a little flip-out panel. It is an easy enough piece for them to remold and replace. Not like they had to remold a whole new roof for Bumblebee!

Well that's pretty awesome but I have to admit that I'm a little bummed that we are getting that instead of Goldbug. There's no way that they'll do two "gold" Bumblebees. Now, had this been vac metallized gold chrome, that'd be different enough to warrant just a gold painted Goldbug.

Buy a second, don't flip over the chest to show the G2 logo but add a G1 logo instead to the other side, and display them with different faces. Now you have a Goldbug too :grin:

But Goldbug has a blue head. Hence my earlier speculation wondering how long it'll take some third party company to announce a new head for this guy.

No way! I'd like to have a proper Goldbug head. His face shield is one of the most unique (and fun to draw) Transformers faces out there!

but would you honestly want MP bee turned into a goldbug? to me, that low level of retooling (assuming itd just be a new head) is ok for classics/generations, but not befitting of the MP line.

not saying a proper MP goldbug is anywhere in their sights, but id rather have that than a half assed BB retool.
