William, that Lazerwave Whirl repaint is the dumbest looking representation "Shockwave" I have ever seen, I'm sorry. It just looks like purple Whirl.
I thought the claw hands were a nice way to bring back elements of Animate shockwave into the fold.
Yeah but still it didn't work in my opinion.I like this Masterpiece Shockwave MUCH better.

You know, that other cycloptic guy, what's his name... (I'm drawin' a blank, guess shockwave was the right choice after all)... Oh, yeah, Steve, Steve the

He was making a joke. He was simulating a conversation where he would come respond by saying that he knows a good redeco before actually coming up with one and then stopping the sentence midway and throwing an arbitrary name so that it can all be forgotten and ignored.
And I will bet anything that he wasn't hoping that joke to get taken this seriously.

I was going for the angle that there were no other cycloptic tf's to my knowledge (outside of minicons - like armada nightbeat) so shockwave is the obvious and only redeco - shoulda named him 'Jim the

Those guys, along with Swindle, Longarm, and Dropkick, all had designs as being drones for the first movie's console video game.william-james88 wrote:To make a fun round up, while Shockwave and Whirl are the main G1 bots to be cyclops(es), the first movie line went all out with that idea, giving us both Payload and Dreadwing. Personally, I dont think the single eye design works on those.

The one-eyed design is hard to catch onto. Shocks and Whirl seem to be the best of the best!

It all has to do with proportion. Whirl and shock had a good 'eye' to 'face' ratio, whereas the movie guys were big cylinders attached to a neck, so it looked pretty off-putting; but the real question is: do the G1 guys look good because of design or because they are G1?
william-james88 wrote:Yeah, I dont think its the G1 factor either. The movie design for Shockwave was excellent.

Good enough for me, just wondering - nostalgia has been known to do funny things, but I'm not sure anyone will ever be nostalgic for the movie cyclops' though

The movie shockwave was absolutely terrifying to look at! That thing was scary and something peopek would remember in nightmares where they were being chased and couldn't escape certain death! The head was badass and the chest design was so unique yet it fit so well despite being so different.
