You know, when this figure was first revealed, there were a LOT of detractors. I didn't take a side. My initial reaction was to mixed, looked plain, very plain compared to other Masterpieces, but damn it looked like good engineering.
So now that I have him in hand, I REALLY like him! He's about the first Masterpiece I've transformed without having to resort to instructions, so that's a big plus. The fact they can take this boxy van and unpack him into a damn good looking TF just reaffirms my initial belief that it was good engineering.
He's a great figure and definitely worth having in the collection. Bring on Ratchet!

These type of decals are similar to those used on model aircraft kits. Reprolabels though equally good are just that, like the G1 style decals. It's too thick over the surface of the figure that, kind of distracting and not smooth over.
That being said, these decals are a bit of a pain to attach as well. They are dry transfer types.

That's why I am downloading images of IDW and g1 Chromia to try and make a concept for one to design myself.
Though, I wouldn't hold my breath for that working either.

So I'm sitting in my lounge chair watching TV. I like to be doing something than just watching TV so I'm often playing games on my tablet.
Well it was on the charger, so my eyes drift over to Ironhide (he's awaiting the arrival of Hot Rod and Shockwave before he moves to his permanent home in the TF room) and I figure, screw it. I'm going to transform him back into alt mode.
Now people may not think this is a big thing. For me it is. I never really mess around with my MP's. I transform them to robot mode, that's about it. Often because they're so fiddly and take so long I can't be bothered transforming them again and again.
But there was something about Ironhide. So I grabbed him, and I transformed him. No instructions.
Often I find myself having to look at one or two steps on the instructions, or even just the box.
Not this time.
This was a very easy figure to transform, I even put him back into robot mode. It's a simply transformation. You've got an alt mode that is incredibly 80's and boxy, and it transforms flawlessly into a robot that is so very much Ironhide.
I'm so glad I reserved my decision on this guy until I had him in hand, because pictures really do not do this figure any justice. He's a great MP and the designer deserves major kudos for the transformation!
