Im not complaining cause I too think this is the best paint job and I might finally own a Unicron figure, but wasn't he grey and orange in the movie? not black at all. Good base color for adding your own grey paint to it. I also hope for the G1 planet eater mouth than the Armada version but I doubt they'll change that if they already changed the head (but how awesome would that be?)

After taking a moment to think about it, I really hope that his chest, waist panels and other parts that were previously clear, are cast in gray plastic rather than just painted over with gray paint. It would kinda suck for some one to get him, then realize that the paint is chipping and scratching off to show clear plastic.

But still a repaint of a figure I bought twice. On sale both times.

No, I like it.

Now that's Unicron as I always wanted the toy to be. Unfortunately, it's a bit on the expensive side though. Might just take some time still to decide on whether or not to get it.

I contacted HLJ (who due to my location is a more viable supplier than BBTS, not that I have anything against BBTS, it's just easier to source directly from Japan) and this was their response.

I don't think Hasbro will release him again. I remember seeing tons of him at TRU. So will this release be rarer than the black one?

I think I'll keep him in the box and use my black Unicron as the evil God.

I want to see the box art. Hope that it is like the one used for JPN Primus. G1 retro look.

Smiley behind your post or not JelZe, I didn't appreciate being spoken too like I was some kind of a dumb-ass. I saw the Movie twice in the theater when it first came out and I own 3 different versions of it. After over 100+ viewings I think I would know if there was any freaking black or 'charcoal' or whatever you want to call that color, on him in the movie.
And I stand by my original staement, even though EVERYONE else seems to absolutely love the new scheme, I think it's positively hideous.

Yuck. Interesting idea, but no. My wallet thanks you Takara. It took me forever, but my custom painted universe Unicron looks a lot better than that, and has glowing green eyes thanks to a replaced LED.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief because I preordered on BBTS without seeing any sneak peek photos. I do think he's very orangey & black... maybe it's just overly-photoshopped? As if Takara is compensating for making Henkei Wheelie not orangey enough. That head sculpt is full of awesomesauce. I usually hide my head in shame whenever someone mentions how all TF fans should have a Unicron... I'll finally be able to join the club!

I can't say I am a huge fan of it either. It is very Halloweeny and the black should definitely be more gray. I have no use for it, personally.

He looks amazing, but still, I was hoping for a more accurate remolding, the chest is just painted on, and the sudden stop withouth any actual relief, just looks face painted tiger stylee. I'm sure the head hasn't been remolded. And why black are these left over parts from energon Unicron production. Think about it, they know we will complain, so there has to be a reason for it. In planet mode he will not look anything like unicron from G1, there will be no grey if at all any. There is only greypainted parts, I can't see any grey injection molded parts, and why the clear hand, I hate that gimmick. This isblatently a reuse of leftover parts from energon.He's about as close to unicron as Primus is to g1 cybertron, why all that blue I don't know. AT first look, I thought, wow, but keep looking, and look at how the G1 parts ae applied, especialy the chest, it is just a paint app, that will look so obvious in the light of day.
