Takara is so far nailing it with their decos for the Titans Return figures. I can't wait to see their takes on Blaster and Soundwave. Hasbro had me pretty "meh" on this whole venture, what with the Headmaster gimmick given to characters that classically never had it, the minimalist paint apps, and odd deco choices, but Takara has made these figures shine, and that goes a long way to make it easier for me to accept this new take on "Headmasters." I can always pretend, in the case of Bluur and Scourge, that Haywire and Fracas upgraded from Targetmasters to Headmasters.

We've got plenty of photos of Weirdwolf from BotCon. He looks great to me. Definitely one of the feathers in Hasbro's cap for the Titans Return line. It's difficult to see how Takara could improve upon what Hasbro already has, honestly. Actually, for that matter, Hasbro's Hardhead and Skullcruncher look pretty good too. The Takara versions have pretty minimal deco differences and really only change things up with head sculpts more akin to the animation models from Headmasters as opposed to the original toys or the "The Rebirth" suite of episodes from the original cartoon. Hasbro is getting the proper Headmasters mostly right and dropping the ball on the other characters.

Nik Hero, thanks! I like seeing the difference between Hasbro and Takara. Sometimes it's a little detail that makes all the difference, and sometimes the decos are completely different, like night and day.

Also funny how I kept my United Blurr and sold Generations Blurr because I liked the colors better on United, but now I like the colors on Legends over TR.

There are no words to describe how much I hate the head design of that Drift-Blurr. I want to melt it down into a gooey puddle of plastic... Thankfully we are getting a proper Blurr this year.

Welp, I pre-ordered all three. Honestly I like all the deco's, they are really nicely done. Enough so that even though the toy's look a little off in some respects, like blurr's big head, shockwave's lavender, and Scourges head side things; i like them.

You can still get him at TFSource. I am getting him at Anime Export, he is still around there (and I will be getting Computron from them too).

I thought the extra molding was a given since I thought the idea of Takara's take on these was that they all had different headsculpts from Hasbro to match the show. I am not sure about Scourge though, the angle doesnt help, but I think his head lazer might be more elevated with the Takara version.

The head sculpting for Takara's Scourge is noticeably different (and better), but the better upgrade is the deco. Painting the Headmaster kibble white not only strengthens the silhouette, helping to hide all that extra bulk that is too obvious with the Hasbro version, it's also another animation accurate touch, as Scourge is supposed to have white detailing on the sides/back of his helmet.

Yeah, it blows that we have to pay import costs. But hey, at least we get the G2 sets for 100$ each. Japan has to import those and it costs them double the price! You win some you lose some.

Wait wait wait WAIT!! As I look closer, is it possible that the antenna is just folded down in the Botcon photo? It appears to be sitting flush to the Hasbro head, based on these two pictures. So, maybe Hasbro's does still have that antenna...
