I've honestly always hated Kup's toilet cleaner turquoise so I was genuinely happy that takara painted the figure a more monochromatic grey. Oh well.

Don't worry, they will. With the announcement of Hot Rod it's clear that Takara isn't really skipping any important molds and is just waiting until after the movie to release them.

You know, guys, Takara might be using the Japanese DVD release of the movie as their source for these colors. I have an ISO copy of the Japanese movie DVD, so I could try taking a few screencaps from that to see how Kup looks in that version of the movie.

Colours look right to me. Glad this mistake was corrected. It had to be bad photography; there's no way Takara could have gotten the colours as wrong as they did originally.

That colour looks a lot better on Kup. I had preordered both him and Hot Rod thinking that gray was not the correct colour. These are way better than the Hasbro versions as I am all about the G1 Sunbow accuracy. Even to a fault sometimes. I will have to sell my Hasbro Hot Rod though. Didnt buy Hasbro Kup as I think he looked bad.

Or maybe Takara is a big and evolving company and has new and young designers who arent in tune with the brand and the source, and make mistakes.

I like that color scheme, but its jot what I think of for Kup.

In Model Railroading, somees you have to exaggerate details, almost as a sleight of hand, in order to please the mind's eye. I think thats whT is going on here. Lrgends Kup is accurate to his source material, but its not what everyone has in mind as Kup. Takara almost needs to exagerate the Green with a touch of blue and maybe a slight lightening. Its less accurate, but its more in line with this illusion of Kup we all have.

I am getting Takara Hot Rod. I like the TKara Kup, and am slowly warming up to the mold, but will probably pass for Hasbro since he does not scream to me Kup... Even though compared to the source material he should be right.

I cant remember any, we just accepted the colour as being a decent take on what we remembered and wanted. So if there was no big argument there and there is one now, I think thats proof enough that Takara had messed up. I would still love to have this mold be closer to those generations colours. Cant believe his colours were already well done once and that its later that we get it wrong.

I still can not fathom on how some fans actually took the time to go out of their way to find some screenshots of times the dark lighting or animation errors made Kup look grey to go all "Sii certoon accecy muh Takara godz nevah wrong!"

Like up until the first images were shown I'm sure everyone would of said Kup was teal or green and never any other color.

Yeah, exactly, that was my point. but you know, there was one dude who actually was hoping for a grey Kup. I cant find the thread but its been months ago we had this debate with him and he was really hoping that they wold redeco Hasbro's into grey so that it would look like how he remembered Kup.

Of course, the rest of us just laughed it off and wondered why they would make a deco based on an animation error.

We got some great news that Takara Tomy isn't going to completely botch Legends Kup, yet the response has had so much negativity, even more so than when we initially thought they had lost their minds and were really going to release Kup in "grayscale." Isn't this a "win?" Who cares who was being a Takara apologist before or what exactly was going on with the initial reveals? Things are a lot better now (not perfect, but better), and we don't seem to be happy about that. Why?

Were humans the negativity is the thing we talk about first.

Plus it's a discussion thread and what we are talking about so happens to be the most "interesting" thing to talk about in the moment.

Don't get us wrong, I think a lot of people are very happy with the change, but, like I said before, are sceptical until we actually see what the color looks like in person. There's a number of factors that could make him appear more teal than he actually is or vice versa in these photos.

I will probably bite the bullet and order him now that the colors appear to be tweaked. Besides, that remolding is doing wonders for the figure, correct colors or not.

I have slight color blindness myself when it comes to near grey colors like this I can "tell" it's more "teal" but I have to kinda stare at it for a few minutes before I can sort of see it.

Unfortunately it's still too different from before so that sort of sucks for me.
