Yup. Figured they'd skip Sentinel. Funny we we're just discussing this yesterday and there's the news. I had complete faith they'd do Soundwave. Retool or not it's Soundwave. They're not passing that up and next year they'll have Soundblaster

Isn't Soundwave's head "Soundblaster"? Or is that in the US continuity?

Actually, TakaraTomy's Twin Cast is colored blue, not red. That would lead to him being called "Twincast", so the same could apply to little Soundblaster if he's colored black.

To be honest would that stop takara of doing a black repaint of a figure?

I don't think they'll rename the head because headmaster partners don't exist in Japan. The head is the character so Soundwave will be Soundwave and if they make a soundblaster deco it will just be Soundblaster.

I'd believe Japan is weird enough to make a blue twincast deco and make a little headmaster red and call it twincast.

Toy bios and fiction don't mix well, no matter where you look, and TakaraTomy is not immune to that. Case in point: the original G1 Headmaster toys got names for both the head and the Transtector, but only the name of the Transtector was used for both in fiction. The rundown:

Stylor: Chrome
Gort: Gort
Arcana: Cana
Duros: Ros
Spike: Cerebros

Vorath: Vorath
Monzo: Monzo
Grax: Grax
Zarak: Scorponok

That found its way in later toys, specifically for Brainstorm: while Arcana went unnamed for the Generations release, the first Legends release called him out as Cana on the back of the box.

Fortunately, Masterforce had the toy bios align with the anime when it came to names, so no separate names for the little guys (and girl) here, except for Goshooter where a pun is present:

Head: 剛 秀太 Gō Shūta (traditionally, names in Japan are written in Kanji, family name first)
Robot: ゴーシューター Gōshūtā (traditionally, names for Transformers are written in Katakana)

For remaining characters I think Sentinel Prime probably stands a chance as either an exclusive similar to Armada Megatron or as a limited USA Edition. I agree that without retooling he probably doesn't stand a chance as a retail figure.

Alpha Trion I could see being an e-Hobby exclusive repaint as Go Prime since he recently reappeared injured in Deadlock's Cloud comic which ended abruptly. A "Nemesis Prime" repaint of the A3 mold would probably look really cool.

Shame they ruined the point of the crashbash mold, it would've totally been them to swap out the headmasters' legs, but they didn't

Man, they really need to find some way to change Vorath's purple limbs to red before Wipe gets released. Those purple arms really clash with the red on the little dino accessory.

And because, well, those purple limbs aren't show-accurate.

I am legitimately mystified that hasbro made individualized arms/legs for each headmaster, but they couldn't find a way to give blurr some paint apps

I'm adoring this. The toys from both companies look as amazing as each other; neither is superior or inferior to the other, they're just different options. This is what should be the advantage of two different companies offering different decos and heads and I'm loving it.

Look at the arms.

As for the jaw, the Vorath mold's leg have no teeth on them like the Crashbash mold's legs have.

Sure I can, I love crashbash's colors. This is a nice pallet, better than the one that came with skullcruncher, and better than the grimlock one, that one's plastic looks a little cheap

It's subtle, but Crashbash has teeth detailing on his lower legs, to go with the Dino Mode of his vehicle. It's that little detail that TakaraTomy choose to overlook.

Again, I shake my head at LG34 ワイプ (waipu)...

Hasbro's Highbrow head is amazing. It uses clear homages to the past but modernizes it into a really cool design. I love it.

The comparisons do establish the trend of TakaraTomy retooling the faceplate of every main Headmaster, no exception. Makes making the complete list so much easier.
