I've got both versions of Broadside and Sixshot. The plastics are the same quality between the Hasbro and Takara releases. Only the colors differ (and the paint apps). If anything, Takara had an extra several months to work out production kinks and up the QC to tighten some joints. Plus, loads of extra paint adds thickness to any surfaces that come in contact with one another, "tightening" any loose interfaces for transformation and articulation.

Plastics especially the red on Broadside are a wee bit different or more noticeable. The Hb is a kind of dull red. Same with the teal of 6shot. Don't tell me you didn't notice it? :???:

Sixshot had his knees retooled with an extra tiny slab of rectangular plastic to add a bit more slack. Not simple tightening or depending on the bending mileage. You did check it right? :-$ they are located at.....(you can read it in tfwiki)

Also the purple of Kickback. Smooth dark purple while the Hb is kind of dull purple. There IS a difference. You don't need a loop to confirm it.

Precisely. The plastic colors are obviously different, I can tell that. The long running misconception in the Transformers collecting fandom, however, has been that Takara somehow uses superior quality plastic on their toys. This is not the case, as they are made in the same factories with the same molds and basic materials. When you started talking about a "change" in the plastics, I assumed you meant the quality and not simply the color of resins used. No worries, we understand each other now, I hope. :)

As bad as headmasters is (currently re-watching them and on the third discat the mo), Scorponoks already destroyed two planets which is pretty impressive and doesnt seem to suffer from autobots 'we've won now lets let them get away' as much if I'm remembering the originals correctly. I'll watch rebirth after I've finished all the japanese series if I can suffer through more 'head-on, head-on' and 'Billeeeee'

Nowhere did I state superior hombres and mujers. Read my post again. Nowhere did I mention resins. Talking about that will cause a big clusterfrack. Also, let me reiterate on 6shot, Takara added an extra piece of molding on his kneecaps to give his knees a little slack unlike the Hb release. So yes, that part is a new mold. Just like the helmet and the Headmaster.

I didn't double dip for the targetmasters so I'm staying away from that but you can tell there is a certain difference, a neatness plus different hues for those that I have in twos ( Kickback, Broadside, 6shot). 6shot's dirty white part for example. Take a closer look.It is a different plastic type from the Hb version. Even Broadside's red. If you insist on saying they are using the same plastic, well I don't know what definition you would prefer on it.

Showing them on the site with a digicam image won't render it accurately. Must be how the digicams processors translate the light captured and rendering it as an image. These Takara domestic releases have this extra bling, and that extra really is a big change in the I want it department.

Anyone who don't like it all and still lingers in the Takara thread is akin to self flagellation if they don't really dig only the Hb releases.

There is some instances where the plasitcs were different but its very few and far in between. And these days its either or. Example would be Skullcruncher. I bought both versions because the Takara version has a loose waist and ball joints at the legs. Got a Hasbro Skullcruncher and used parts from it to make 85% of my Takara version more stable.

Just like the seekers when it was noted that Henkei Thundercracker and Skywarp were molded from the Universe Starscream mold and not the Original Classics/ Henkei Starscream mold. The null rays ports are slightly bigger on the Universe Starscream mold, and it suffered from a certain looseness that the Henkei version of TC/SW had. However, when hen the United Seeker sets came out they used the original Classics mold. I mean If you have been in this hobby long enough you'll figure out what is what. I look at it as preference for what you want in your collection.

I wanted to know for myself if Takara Sixshot has the same looseness that Hasbro Sixshot has. Personally I want to kit bash them as the shade of Green on Legends Sixshot is not quite as green as the Headmasters Cartoon.

I prefer what Takara is doing especially with the Decepitcon Targetmasters but with the excpetion of Misfire and Sluglsinger I may stick to the Hasbro ones because in the case of Triggerhappy I think Hasbro's is perfect. maybe they will release an EX-Targetmaster set like they did for the Headmasters.

I can't say much about the Destron Targetmasters though as I only have the JP versions. But from my initial inspection from the shelves of TRU, the Hb is a bit on the darker side, for Slugslinger and Triggerhappy.

6shot has that extra plastic stubs on the anterior of his knees. Not ratcheted but does locks them a bit/give some resistance, to add some stability . Why this slipped through during the design process for the Hb version is quite befuddling indeed.

The green on the Hb one is kind of like Mellow Yellow/7up green. The Takara more than approximates the "teal" from the show compared to Hb's version. Unless Toei releases an HD version so we can really tell how "teal" he is. So You're good with the Takara one if that's your pick.

I'd really love for Karyuudo Fansubs to give The Headmasters their special kind of subtitling treatment, as I don't feel any currently existing subtitled versions of The Headmasters (official or unofficial) quite cut the muster for giving that show good subtitles. And with any luck, Karyuudo would deliver to us not only a quality subbing job, but two optional subtitle tracks that let us choose between original Japanese Takara and Western Hasbro names/terms.

Chill out, Fenrir. I already said I misunderstood you initially. I also explained that I do, of course, see the color differences in the plastics used. No one is arguing against that.

Your original post made it seem like you were saying that the plastic quality was different between the two when it's just the color. I think that's where the confusion was.

Darn, you were supposed to mention 6shot's retooled knees again. You ruined the pattern! :-D

(I was also going to be a smartass if that happened and ask if his knees were retooled.)

Re: LG51 Doublecross

Postby Cyberpath » Fri Dec 22, 2017 10:14 am

I got November's Legends batch, finally! One of them is Doublecross. I had been appreciating him for a long time in other people's pictures, and Takara finally released him in a really nice, luxurious looking deco. He's a figure that stands out -- the beast-heads hands are weird and different, but also it's usually the Decepticons that transform into animals.

The Titans Return transformations continue to impress me. My favourite part is how the beast arms are stored in his torso in robot mode, without obstructing the wings movement. I also like the Dinobot-style transformation of the tail, wish Skullcruncher had something like this. Head-sculpt is very nice. Articulation's pretty good, too, could have used some wrists swivels -- especially since his hands are faces.

Image
Never seen you before, you must be one of the Autobots' new recruits.
Your wings -- are you also a bat?

Image
The name's Doublecross, Decepticon -- and I'm a dragon!

Image
Doesn't matter. Bat or dragon,
you will fall under my psychic onslaught like everyone else!

Image
Your mental powers are great, Mindwipe, but futile against one with two heads.
When one head falls prey your spells --

Image
-- the other one is ready to pick up the slack -- and reflect your attack back at you!

LG52 Misfire

Postby Cyberpath » Sat Dec 23, 2017 3:35 pm

The second guy in my latest Legends batch. I already have Triggerhappy so Misfire's transformation was a little "familiar." Still, it's somewhat different and they look different so it's probably more fun than transforming all the original Decepticon jets (of the trio I only ever had Starscream.)

Misfire seem to have less steps than Triggerhappy, but he's got a cleaner robot-mode -- his wings are attached to his back and he doesn't have the guns flipped to the sides of his arms (of course it also means no gun-hands. But it's nice that they are not the same.)

Likeness to the cartoon is great. Head-sculpt is spot on. My only three complaints are: that his arms don't stretch to the sides like Doublecross.

That he doesn't have landing gear. I've always appreciated how HasTak usually included this feature in jet robots (even back in the day with simpler toys like the Aerialbots.) Oddly enough, Triggerhappy has it.

Image

Annnd that he's a Headmaster. But the cockpit is pretty nice!

Image

Some fun with the new toy...

Image
Well, what do we have down there? Som'kind'f combat robot -- is it an Autobot or a human construct?

Image
Time to investigate (and have some fun!)

Image
Ow!!

Image
He packs a mean punch!

Image
It's'kay, my gun can pierce that armour piece o' cake...!

Image
Blast! I've missed! And again! He's not even trying to evade my bolts, I'm just a lousy shot --

Image
-- well, they don't call me Misfire for nothing. But when one weapon fails...

Image
I'll simply manifest my energy blades --

Image
-- backed by the force of my will -- they can cut through anything!

Image
There, at last I got him!

Image
-- now, the coup de grâce!

Image
Well done, brave warrior, you've passed the test.

Who?!?

Image
Megatron!?! You still function?!? (and twice the size!)

Image
Yes. Now follow me, I'll tell you all about it.

Legends LG-63 G2 Megatron features optional "Megatron Rules!" Sticker

Postby Tyrannacon » Sun Dec 24, 2017 8:22 am

Motto: "Decepticons Forever!"
Weapon: Fusion Cannon
Takara released instructions for the new LG-63 G2 "Hero" style of Megatron that features the optional choice of sticker of "Megatron Rules!" for their upcoming Legends release. You can check it out in the image below, but it will feature the G2 Decepticon logos as well from the US release. Also, anybody notice the two Predacon Beast Wars stickers there too? They are for the Titan Master or rather Headmaster here. The headmaster for this release is painted to resemble Beast Wars Megatron and the partner of course is meant to resemble Savage/Noble of Beast Machines fame.

The options for customization are your's of course in any case. You can go for a G2 approach or you can go for the Beast Era approach. You can find the instructions for LG63 G2 Megatron as well as the LG62 Targetmaster Windblade and LG 61 Clonetron sets.
