The pose is sexualities because she's a "girl" bot. That's the point. It's not really a big deal, it's just annoying and a telling sign of the carefree sexism that exists in Japanese culture. I don't like to see it in transformers.

And yes, that pose of Airazor is sexist. Like completely.

It's fine for a female character to be sexy, it likely doesn't encapsulate their whole being.

The last pic of the other females fauning over star saber and then this one is telling to the mindset of the photographer.

Ok, I get what your saying. Regardless of what some of us may think and feel, you dislike the probable intention of the person making and publishing the photo, makes sense.

IMO, the whole thing with gender bias and sexualization has more to do with idealization than sexism.

What I mean is, TF's and just about any other fictional characters are manifestations of the idealized human form. Male characters will invariably be either male-model athletic, bodybuilder muscular or intimidating, with the token comic relief character being fat or puny.

In the same sense, females will have the generic slim and agile proportions of athletes or models. The thing is, there are so few female TF's that it seems almost every fembot looks like a pin-up model, except for Strika and Ripclaw. Comparatively, you have tons of male bots with sleek and "physically fit" proportions and only the token DOTM Leadfoot, AOE Hound and TFA/TFP Bulkhead who have fat proportions.

As for the Arcee pose thing, I've seen plenty of female friends lounge on the couch like that.

It's not cute, and it's not innocent...it's natural physiology. It's not submissive or seductive in any way. Seriously, female body language will be somewhat more languid than that of males, and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't see how a girl (bot) behaving in a natural way is insulting and sexualized. That's like saying men who walk with a confident stride or sit with their legs apart are sexualizing masculinity.

The only legitimate case of TF female sexualization IMO is Kiss Players.

Everything is in the mind of the viewer. But when you have a large constituency seeing it that way, chances are, it's in the mind of the photographer (or whoever posed the thing), too.

Thanks! I usually try to stay away from topics like these, but it seems every single thread that has to do with a fembot comes with a healthy side order of alleged sexism, whether warranted or not.

Let's face facts, humans like looking at attractive physiques, be it male models and bodybuilders for girls, or pin-up swimsuit models for guys (or vice versa, if one is LGBT).

Thanks for the kind words. All this while, I managed to stay away or simply discussed the merits of fembot figs (sans sexism topics) in PM's with friends. But on a whim, I just had to say my piece this time. It's this silly reverse gender bias that get me.

At the risk of going even further off-topic, I believe and support gender equality in areas that matter. Equal salaries and fair treatment at the workplace, for example. It's petty things like the condemning the wearing of a bra that hijack the true meaning of gender equality.

I kinda wish Seibertron would adopt the free and open slashcode but I don't think it has the user base to justify the change.

She definitely won't be able to use guns with generic 5mm pegs, but I wonder if she can hold some of the swords from other TF's, like IDW Drift's? I remember the sword handles are rectangular as well.

I think your disconent is with your imaginings of the photographer's alleged sexualized ideas (or ideals) of the character, not anything about the picture itself. I'm a gay man, and I have no particular interest in the idealized female form or figure, but yes, I can tell that Arcee, the character, is meant to have sex appeal. However, that pose is ambiguous. I read it as being "fun" or "carefree", and it's not something that only women do either. The mind is a human's most important sexual organ, and I think what a lot of people are doing is projecting their sexual interpretation onto a plastic toy. Yes, that also speaks volumes about the state of sexual inequality in our culture, but this picture of Arcee isn't the problem, it's something systemic, insidiously so, in the way we're taught to think about and interpret other human beings.

Well put. Sometimes, we tend to put too much on such little things. That pose done by Yuki imho looks like Arcee is kicking off her heels in relax/stand bye mode [using machine terms here].

What you can call sexist is when they turned Arcee into a secretary in TF:Headmasters. If the producers wanted to ape Yuki Mori/Nova in Starblazers, well Nova wasn't that sexualized or a wall flower as to most of the drama focused on a lot of characters.

In Headmasters (Japan version), they tackled a lot of great and inane concepts. But turning Arcee into a useless decor? Now that's sexist.

Maybe also, there was no toy of her to push so they let her go down the drain.

Of course she's being objectified! Her legs are spread, implying promiscuity and seduction!

Jokes aside, are those silver painted part underneath the canopy? Looks better than the Hasbro version's blue plastic under a clear colorless canopy.

It could be just this particular pic, but the bare gray plastic doesn't seem to compliment the white paint apps very well, especially since they're 2 parts of the same limb.

You're right--just noticed the coloring on the box illustration. Still, having 2 parts of the same limb painted in different colors just doesn't work for me. If I do buy the fig, the only parts I'll retain in lavender will be the hubcaps and the face.
