I don't know why people are so down on Nightbird. I want all three because more female Transformers and more Decepticons are always a good thing. Although, I would've liked retooled forearms and hands for Black Arachnia so she doesn't have "gorilla arms" and can hold 5mm weapons.

If it bothers people so much, they could just pretend that Nightbird is really "G1" Nightracer. She's the picture behind Sky Byte's shoulder to the right of FIRRIB and under G2 Cindersaur's jaw.

Keep it. It's still more screen accurate than this. Spider abdomen, legs on arms, claw hands, and robot legs are very wrong/missing on this new release. Swap the heads out if this one isn't too big

Let's not kid ourselves: unofficial Nightbirds are, in fact, relevant to this particular thread because pretending this first official Nightie wasn't influenced by that TRNS retool is kind of like pretending BW Dinobot's design wasn't influenced by Jurassic Park. While it works, it's not a super obvious redeco like the Paradron Medic. For that matter, no fair pretending we didn't finally get that Arcee mold in part because of the steady parade of not-Arcees that started long before "3rd Party" was even a term. Our favorite toy franchise doesn't exist in a vacuum, no matter what any lawyers say.

In fact, part of the reason this is shaping up to be such an awesome year for TF is that HasTak seem to be achieving the sort of symbiotic relationship with 3rd party products that they should've had all along. First, they finally take the hint about unrequited demand for gestalt teams and give us Combiner Wars at a reasonable price. Now, they take a remold idea from Impossible Toys, and do it better! (I've handled both molds; this WILL be better, of course) Monitoring 3rd Party stuff for research into fan spending habits which convey things where our words fail to is how they should improve certain corners of the brand.

Occasionally pointing out the unofficial influences isn't a dig at Hasbro or Takara (regardless of X always phrasing it that way), it's just part of the fun. Like how the most enjoyable part of Prometheus was playing along by spotting the Easter-Eggs from all the Alien rip-offs they reclaimed.

That said, I'll buy all 3 of these toys even if Hasbro never brings 'em over.

Now as for Blackarachnia's upgrades...I know they may be filled in somehow on the final product, but all I can think of when I see that proto/test-shot is the part of Split Infinity where Sheen detatches her breasts and carries them like bedpans so she and Stile can sneak out of the hospital.

I bet they're probably shaped to minimize gaps anyone could see the hollowness through in robot mode. Really want that blackarachnia, not that interested in slipstream but only because windblade really needs like 2mm added to her heels to fix the balance issues and that's not gonna happen

Based on what Takara did with their Legends release of Leader Megatron, I imagine that this new Blackarachnia will not be meant to represent her original season 1 body, but might instead represent a new, post-Beast Machines form of hers.

The similarities between my very expensive Delicate Warrior and the official Gen Dx Arcee are quite striking design wise.

Hey, it's also thanks to Green Giant and Herculese that we FINALLY get a giant-ass and affordable official Devastator! Plus remember how the official Springer blew all the 3P ones out of the water?

Yes, Hasbro and Takara really take clues and inspirations from the 3P products and companies. By not being asses and suing everything that moves à-la Harmony Gold, HasTak get it's due by saving a lot on R&D just by "spying" on the 3P stuff.
This is just a great thing all over where everyone win!

Seriously, I'm not much of an expert on spiders, so it doesn't matter to me at all. She's bought on sight as far as I'm concerned. Not so sure about Slipstream, on account of the Wndblade toy's feet sticking out in alt mode. Nightbird, I might get 2 of them--one to repaint into Arcee with a head I designed myself, and the other for my own take on Nightbird's head design.

I just hope there won't be another shortage on stock again, like with Arcee, Chromia and Windblade.

I use a panel lined Animated Arcee as my CHUG Arcee anyway so I'm fine. I do want to own that mold though, so Nightbird will do nicely (provided I can snag her on Kapow or the likes).

It's been a very long time since I last bought anything from them, but if memory serves, they're not bad with the packaging. CUstomer service was quite good, and they respond fairly quickly. But as I mentioned in the earlier post, they no longer replace defective items, even if it's broken right out of the box. Ever since their policy change, I've tried to avoid buying stuff from them.
