Maybe used one of the Animation Errors (Colors, i presume)to make him more attractive?

Suddenly, the paint for the Takara Sharkticon blows away the Hasbro one, although i see no differences on the sharkticons but only more deco paints

That's not a sticker on the hood, it's translucent plastic painted.

Looks dumb, going to need a Reprolabel to cover that and the stupid half translucent, half yellow paint headlights.

I don't understand the Sharkticon's colors, the gray tail and shark arms are accurate to neither the cartoon or the original toy.

it worries me.
looks like its time to put triggerhappy and hot rod up on ebay sometime before september.
wonder why they didnt do it with blurr and scourge.

Triggerhappy's head will be retooled i think
Although in this picture he's too dark to be seen, along with these 3 with their Accurate color scheme

Rather than that, the weapons from them will be different
Looks like Takara will be adding some Targetmasters for them too because why not?

I will say the only thing i'm disappointed about in regards to the sharkticon, is the fact the figure doesn't have chromed out Marilyn Manson teeth. Still in love with the Wa-Sweep.

The color used from Takara Kup is actually an Error Animation color Kup

I thought this would be a proper teal Kup. Since it is not, it is an easy skip. Maybe they will later release the Hasbro headmaster alone in proper teal.

Hot Rod's flames are not gold leaf, this is translucent plastic. It looks pre-broken for your convenience.

Well, add another curveball for TakaraTomy with the new-mold Targetmasters. Some observations:

- The Targetmasters don't seem to be proper retools of eachother, but they do share engineering, and possibly some minor parts.
- Firedrive has not been retooled from what I can tell. Nor is he based on box set Rodimus Prime, you can tell by the crest on the helmet.
- Kup's colors may be based on a rare scheme he had Season 3/Transformers: 2010, like during certain parts of Five Faces of Darkness. Colors are so hard to get right...

Sharkitcon/Gnaw is gorgeous. Simple as. A shame it'll probably be quite expensive to army build because I want loads of them.

Hot Rod...I dunno. The deco is nice but it's off somehow, and I really, REALLY wish that the Headmaster limbs were red to match the faceplate.

Kup I actually really like. Sure it's a bit grey for Kup (though it might match some shots in the movie, perhaps?) but it looks pretty classy, especially in robot mode. I dig it.

Also, them Targetmasters. All of my yes.

Which is what makes me think this is actually Rodimus Prime NOT Hot Rod. Probably why they named it Hot Rodimus again instead of Hot Rod. Save for the fact he transformers in to a car instead of a Winnebago he looks pretty much exactly like Rodimus from the Headmaster animated series.

No, it's still the regular head. Look and compare with these images, especially the crest's detailing:





And Hot Rodimus is the standard Japanese name for Hot Rod in all his incarnation, always has been, like Chaar (however you spell it) is the Japanese name for Kup.

It's not though. The head I mean (maybe he is R.Prime, I dunno). But, it's the same head from Hasbro's deluxe.

And that's why I like Takara's Kup so much more. The colors blend together way better and his legs don't look like a mishmash of parts as much. The face is also nicer looking in my opinion - I have the old Generations Kup with the iGear upgrade head so he looks spot-on to Last Stand of the Wreckers, and the only Kup I would want besides that version is the one from the movie. I still love the vehicle mode of both versions, but the nicer color on Takara won me over completely.

As a side note I'm a bit colorblind - weird example but for 15 years I thought Mewtwo was grey instead of purple, and I guess it's a similar thing for me with Kup. The grey looks close enough and is at least the right tone for me, so I don't really have any issues with this version of the figure. Can't wait for him to come out!
