If Takara went through the trouble of sculpting a new face for Kup/Char (and the main 4 HMs), and were going to make an Orion Pax, would it not be safe to assume they would just sculpt a new face?

Not if its an e-hobby exclusive (like Convobat), which I am alsmost sure it will be (but still just a hunch of course).

Plus, wouldnt it have been safe to assume they would give us a faceplate head for Lio Convoy? I dont think we can assume anything.

It all depends on WHO makes a theoretical Orion Pax repaint/remold, though. If Takara makes it a mainline release, or even a Legends-EX release, then yes, I think they'd go to the trouble of making a brand new head sculpt for Orion. If instead e-Hobby does the homage, as they were the ones who made the original G1 repaints of Orion Pax from Kup and Dion from Wheelie, then I would think they wouldn't do any new tooling, instead either using the existing Kup tooling for the head (maybe the Hasbro version), or choosing another suitable head, whether that be Hasbro's PMOP head, the Blurr head (as mentioned above), or something else altogether.

Ah, I see Will. Visual interpretation is a tricky thing. I see how you would see that, and now I will probably see that every time I look at it.
But I will join in the chorus here. I'm 99.9% sure he has a ridged or segmented face plate. At least that's what my brain has always interpreted visually when looking at that sculpt.

You know, that does make me think that since it could be interpreted as a split mouth plate, that that was a deciding factor for using that head for Legends Convobat. Just paint the middle section or remove the silver and there ya go.

Plus you are all ignoring the most important detail: Takara reused sentinel's prime innacurate faceplate instead of doing a new mold that actually looked like Lio Convoy's faceplate. Which was my point all along. Anybody want to correct me on that?

Anyways, moving on, here is the result for putting leader heads on deluxes compared to deluxe heads on deluxes. Blaster's looks worst of all but PMOP dosnt look great either and instead appears to have down syndrome.

Yes, but not as Primal's open-mouthed faceplate. Rather, as Convobat's closed faceplate:



(Onyx Primal, being a moldmate to the original Convobat, provides a better, more closer look at the faceplate:)



But now with bumps instead of a smooth surface:



I WISH they had painted the innermost segment blue to emulate Primal's open-mouth faceplate, but they painted the whole thing silver, closed faceplate-style, instead.

I'm not seeing that at all. A slightly enlarged head as compared to Brawn next to him, sure, but the proportions are all correct within the head. The most common signs of downs on the face are a small chin and/or mouth, flattened bridge of the nose and slanted eyes, none of which really stand out to me from your photos.

For an overall enlarged head, you are probably looking for something more like Macrocephaly.

No problem. I'm not that well versed in medicine either, I had to google conditions with an enlarged head to find Macrocephaly. But I do know downs as my youngest has it (and she is a riot). I would actually love finding any type of toy that actually showed the features of downs, intentional or not, especially a TF.
