.................ok so haven't posted on any of the threads in a very long, long, long time so haven't read any of the trash from above but i have to make a comment.

Those ankles......they look horrible! The figure from the waist up is absolutely stunning, but it seems to me that the legs became an after-thought due to the trailer transformation.

I would buy it but the legs throw me off completely.

Yeah, looks like a lot of the detail on Minerva's face is covered up by the paint. I expect it to look much better on the actual production samples.

This seems a good time to bring this observation of mine up again: Legends Ginrai's feet (which, considering they were purposefully retooled for: A. hitching up and combining with Godbomber, B. A different look, and C. more articulation, are hardly an afterthought) actually [/i]are[/i] based on the original toy's, doing photo comparisons. They have the same basic shape, and a bit more molded detail. What's making them look off is that the trailer wheels and sides are at a different angle and placement compared to the original toy. Because, well, the toy is in fact a heavy retool of Combiner Wars Leader-class Ultra Magnus and thus has most of his transformation engineering. Ginrai is decidedly less afterthought than Powermaster Optimus as far as function goes, and I think the new feet look better for him too. The more G1-looking cab front pieces are nice too (PMOP's enormous grille and dinky windows just look silly, especially in comparison). Although he could still do with a few more 5mm ports.

As for Godbomber.. the poor guy's a victim of both aversion to partsforming and the mandate that Leader-class figures from TR/the corresponding Legends period Must Have A Base Mode. And possibly too much focus during design on him standing as an independent figure, but the other two factors are the main things to blame.

I'm completely a broken record at this point, but Ginrai's feet are just bad. They look so unnatural and almost ruins how amazing the rest of the figure is. It really comes to fore in these images though; sheesh, even Godbomber doesn't save it.

I think the design pays homage to both the original G1 figure and the character on Masterforce. The legs are much more stable than they look. But if you still don't like it, the version should still be available.

I have to say, looking at Minerva...I'm kinda not sure. The "robot" mode looks fine, but the head mode, even with the allowances made for the prototype paint, looks...off somehow. I will say if I get any version of Ginrai it'll probably be this boxset, but I'm actually tempted to just get a Nightbeat and customize it into Minerva, either by using the base faceplate and removing the face portion (and sculpting a replacement) or replacing the faceplate altogether with one off Shapeways.

If you are going to customize an existing face, id go with Ptero. it works very well for Minerva, though i did trim the chin a little on mine

No they didn't. It's a brand new Titan Master/Headmaster mold.

but ye gods does she need some red paint! Her armor is completely the wrong color! I was hoping those earlier photos showing her were a test scheme that would be fixed for the final product, but it looks like they're being dumb and sticking with it! Bad Takara!

You're right, my bad I think I was thrown off by the pic heads being swapped in position compared to the upright forms. That and misremembering Cab/Lug as also being red.

You're right, my bad I think I was thrown off by the pic heads being swapped in position compared to the upright forms. That and misremembering Cab/Lug as also being red.

Maybe it's because when they're bonded with their transtectors they switch colors? In other words:

Minerva (human): red
Minerva (robot): white

Cab (human): white
Cab (robot): red

In a sense she is, well the Legends Universe native version called Nightbeat is. Funnily enough, this plays both into Minerva being a Nightbeat redeco (or vice-versa), and Minerva getting a Nightbeat-colored release as a mail-away.

Yup, which aside from the chrome on Godbomber's sword, cannon tip and combined mode chest; seems to be the only changes made to the original releases.
