I had a feeling we may get sdome good news from takara Tomy on this line, i mean come on, it's Japan, why would they want a Nerf Megatron???

Yeah, come on Japan remold Megatron into one of those semi-automatic air pellet guns that are so popular in Japan.

You know, I think I might need to start grabbing the few Classics I find. I'm kicking myself for not grabbing Ramjet. How cool would that be to have my original RJ next to Classics RJ?

Time to hit that WM and grab me a Classics Jetfire!

What was wrong with Prime? I thought he was a good update, except for the cheat-transformation for the grille.

I did not like the top of the cab area mostly. OP is not awful like Megs, but he is not as good as other Classics, such as the seekers.

Overall, I felt the weakest Classics were in order: Devastator, Megatron, Astrotrain, Optimus Prime.

Devastator is the worst among the classics. No resemblance to the G1 cartoon at all.

Really? I quite enjoyed Prime. For me the worst Classics were Astrotrain, Grimlock and Devastator.

The rook of the cab and the "shields" on his arms are a little too off putting for me to consider him to be in the same league as the seekers. However, you are right about ole Grimlock.

My updated worst of list:
Devastator, Megatron, Grimlock, Astrotrain, Optimus Prime

I've heard a few grumbles about the kibble on Prime's arms. The aspect doesn't bother me personally but I can see how a different way of folding / concealing the 'shields' would make the robot mode more appealing. Ah well, it's interesting to discuss, anyway.

In my opinion, in the Voyager size class, G1 Prime is still king. I do appreciate why many would like Classics Prime. He has a nice updated look and is very poseable. He just doesn't look anime correct enough for me.

That's an interesting point. Are the Classics supposed to be simply updates of G1 toys or updates that include anime accuracy? Some seem to look anime-accurate (Bumblebee, Astrotrain's robot mode except for the colours) and some don't.

I've never really liked the G1 toys of Prime or Megatron, which I suppose is why I don't own them despite having a lot of G1 toys, though I do have the Powermaster Prime, which I love! Everyone's tastes are different, though.

What do you think of deluxe Classics Prime? I don't own him and he doesn't really appeal to me but I'm interested to see what you think of his G1 toy / anime accuracy (or lack thereof, depending on your view).

Well, when I first saw him, I thought he looked pretty good. Then I looked closely and well, he looked way too blocky and cheaply made which is why I never purchased the 2 pack.

Honestly, the Voyager Prime is very nice and a good update to the original design.. the Deluxe is pure crap and pales in comparison to the Robot Masters version.. I just don't see why Hasbro couldn't just increase the Robot Master's size and make him the Deluxe.. that would have been alot better then spin blade optimus.. and that Megatron Tank was horrible!! why didn't they just do the deluxe Megatron as a Gun Platform/ Gun turret and make him turn into his G-1 self or a reasonable facsimile.. that way they curve around the Toy Gun laws and still have a G-1 accurate Megatron??

there has to be a way to turn something like this, painted in silver:
Image
Image

into this:
Image

Think about it, a Gun turret doesn't violate the toy gun laws cause it's not a hand gun, and is considerably smaller, plus this megatron could still function as the original did, with other's being able to use him.. instead of a Handgun, he'd be a giant gun turrett, that skywarp, starscream or even soundwave could use, just like the old concept.. and no mass shifting!! Not to mention how neatly a Gun turret ties into the concept behind Galvatron!! it's a freaking no Brainer!!!

they should have done that and made a Classics Deluxe Megatron like a Gun turret and look like the classic G-1 style.. with the Robot master prime as the 2-Pack.. no spin blade attack please...

I agree, he has them in altmode, but not in robot because they become his gun..

I don't understand what the smokestacks add to Prime. I didn't get it when people debated the MP-01 / 20th variations and I don't get it now!

I don't know about classics voyager Prime, I like him the way he is. The arm flaps are still my only complaint there, but I've gotten used to them.

As for the MP vs. 20th prime, I just got the extended smoke stacks for him. They were cheap to add on when I got his trailer. Anyway, I was amazed at the difference!

Such a subtle change really adds a lot to his overall look.

& probably more importantly, when we all first started seeing prototype pics of the guy, it was the Masterpiece Convoy version, all pretty & shiny, & not too long after that, we find out we get a castrated version.

It's mainly a censorship issue.

Hey, anybody that has ever seen Robin Hood:Men in Tights on the Disney channel knows exactly how censorship & castration go hand-in-hand.

Besides, webster says censor means: to suppress or delete as objectionable.....& that's exactly what happened with the smokestacks; they were edited because of their objectional nature concerning child safety.

For some reason, people just don't like censorship in any form....wether it be content from a movie, music, foul language in public, sharp pointy parts on toys, the fact that G1 Megs can never be reproduced in the U.S.......

boy, for the price BBTS is charging, these batter be mettalics and not just simple repaints...Megatron & Screamer if done closer to G1 colors i can justify, but Prime? BB? Grimlock? Mirage? how close can you get to G1 with them?
