Truth is, I don't have any problem with the Henkei release.

Read up, I haven't said anything negative about the situation.

I'm glad the Japanese have a chance to get one.

Carefully now, look, what I've tried to do is warn collectors that this is going to be as much or more expensive eventually than the BotCon one. If you really look at what I've said, it's been an attempt for people to understand the difficulty this release will entail.

Go ahead and mention the taunting that went on between me and a friendly rival over the matter. Try to make me look like a jerk in all of this.

You fail to mention my advocacy for people to buy these things when they were first available.

You fail to mention the people that I help out in regards to BotCon.

You fail to mention the downright immense amount of time I put into making sure fellow collectors are properly informed on these issues.

Congrats on actually pissing me off in regards to all of this, that's genuinely not easy.

You should know by now.....No good thing go's unpunished

Oh please... 'More experienced'... I'm over 30. I have some toys in my collection I bet most people on this board don't have and hardly ever will. Not because I'm so rich, but because they ARE that hard to find.

And if I learned something from TF collecting, is that NOTHING is impossible to get for cheap. I got my Takara MP 01 (MIB, 100% complete) for barely 25$... I got a custom boxed G1 Ravage for only 20$... Why? 'Cause I didn't rush to buy them when they were avaliable, not only because my wallet was quite thin at the time, but because I don't like spending more then 50$ on a Transformer...

As the Predacon leader, Razorclaw put it, "all good things succumb to those who await" And I was willing to wait a year after I heard about the Botcon seekers, I can wait a little more until the Heinkei Exclusives will be up for affordable prices. All you have to do is to wait, and have a keen eye. I waited 2 years to get an MP Prime. I am a patient man. I can do it again.

So, it was fair that the remaining seekers were unavailable to a large part of the fandom, but it's not fair to botcon that now a single seeker from that set, with a different paint job, is being released in limited numbers in a different country?

Last I heard, this Thundercracker is about as limited as fruit at the store. They’ll be making as many as they get Preorders for, THERE IS NO LIMIT.

And no, it’s not fair at all. I’m sure there are a lot of people here who understand me saying this. Put your self in their shoes for a change, you save up a TON of money, take off from work, get on a plane, get you’re overpriced toys that were never supposed to be released anywhere else, then two years later, they release what is virtually THE SAME THING.

Look at Getterdragun, he wouldn’t have gone to that Botcon if he had known it would be released like this. No where near as many people wouldn’t have gone, but they were told this would be the only way to get their seekers. So much for that.

Now, doesn’t any of that sound the least bit unfair to you?

No one had to save up a ton of money, take off from work, get on a plane to get overpriced toys that were never supposed to be released anywhere else.

THAT IS WHAT THE NON-ATTENDING PACKAGE IS FOR!

Wait… So you mean there was cheaper, more convenient way of getting these? How much did one cost? And if so, what was the big fuss about prior to this release?

As far as I know the non attending packet would have cost you $50 per fig, a little more then what the attending packet costs.
The main complaint was that these were canon characters, meaning that tehy should have been a regular release, which might have been awailible to the whole world and not just the few that bought the set.
The main reson many people didn't want to buy it was that they fellt pissed of at the idea of paying that much for what should have been a reg release.

BB Shockwave wrote:Well you should all look around on Ebay these days...

I'd say the new Heinkei Astrotrain is VERY highly sought after due to the very different color scheme.

You know for how much it sells?

15 $!!!!

Do you honestly expect some chinese/Hong Kong seller to be aware of the whole Botcon Seeker thing? To them, this'll be just another transformer toy to sell, after all they sell tons of toys on Ebay not just TF. They'll be aware that these are Japanese store exclusives, so I predict the starting price will be around 25-30$. But it will fall below that as the months pass (see that Heinkei BB or Starscream can be bought for 10$ nowadays!).

It'll never be 100$. Sure, scalpers will try to sell it for that much, but scalpers try to sell the KO G1 Casettes for 50-70$ too, and they fail utterly when others sell these for 15$. :)

Flawed logic in your post all the way =;

Henkei Starscream is going for $25, so is Classics Starscream.

Chinese sellers are FULLY aware of any Botcon exclusisve. They are getting these directly from the factory.
They know how much quantities are being produced, and such.

The problem is demand. Botcon exclusives are one thing, becuase either way you put it, you are going to pay dearly.
But the insane prices for TF Animated are all becuase "we" impatient americans can't wait for it to be mass retail,
so we out bid each other until some realize, "I'm gald he outbid me....look at how much of an idiot I am!!"

Now the debate of the Botcon seekers being made by TakTomy, which have occurred due to specualtion, rumor, and now actual product shot, which has been stated as well to be a japanese store exclusive, will....drive up demand.

Now I'll agree with you, they won't be that expensive, probaly $50 to $60. But most idiots won't go the distance to obtain these, and rather wiat on import stores to get them. There is a differecne between a Hot Wheel Scalper, becuase he has to be ultra cunning to get treasure hunts, but most TF scalpers are those who have to wait for initial stock to be put out on the shelves. With the caseof a store in Japan, the channels will be limited to damn near all.

Look at that Lawson's Pepto Bismol Movie Starscream...BBTS wants $340 bucks. probaly a one-third mark up to help you get one, because you had to buy a DVD player to get one.

Think of quantity that the store exclusive might be. BBTS can use there channels probaly to get 5 to 10, possibly more depending on the quantity released. Once they get enough, then the mark-up begins. Also, if some of the product is stolen, and gets put up by a Chinese epay seller, then the ebayees will go on a bidding rampage, and probaly regrat paying what they could have paid for the botcon version, and on top of all that, pay $45 to ship something that would have cost abiut $8 in the US.

1. Ok, average cost of Botcon TC, is $200 (average) with shipping probaly maxes to $215

2. BBTS gets Henkei TC, pays $60 + $xx to ship to them, depending on the mark-up, it may got for $110 to $150 + $12 to ship...and we still have no data on quantity or price. Still speculation for and this is a low ball price figure.

3. Stolen from factory, a sample of Henkie TC, or the stolen product on a Chinese epay auction. If it's the first run of the Henkei version, it willbe the same price as the Botcon version, with the ridiculous high shipping to send it to you.

I suggest you do your research, and find a Hekei TC ans SW with out the grubby hand mark up.

I understand what you say, but this is not the case here...

Your point are totally valid, however - I'm not speaking about stuff stolen from factories.

Obviously chinese sellers can pre-order Heinkei from factories, or tell me any other way they can get SO many Takara toys (that many can't 'fall off the truck' without arousing suspicion) for sale?

And of course, I don't plan on buying from BBTS. For you USA citizens, it's a good online stores, especially during 15-25% off actions (though its G1 stuff is ridiculously overpriced). But try buying from them from Europe! It's a real nightmare! Not only do they use only USPS Express Mail - which is horribly expensive - but, although they are willing to mark the packages as GIFT for foreign buyers, they ship in boxes with BIG BAD TOY STORE printed on it with huge letters. Even the customs officier with the lowest IQ will see this is not a gift, and if you argue - they'll open it, and BBTS ALWAYS includes the receipt. Meaning you get taxed for 20% of the value of the toys, PLUS 20% tax for shipping costs! Some of my friends got bad luck numerous times with BBTS, which is why no-one in Hungary ever orders from them today.

Sorry for the off-topicing... My point is, as with the current Heinkei stuff, there'll be warying price points for the seekers, just like today for the various heinkei stuff. And as I have experienced, many chinese sellers don't even put these up as 'Transformers Heinkei' or 'Classics', some use the 'Robots in Disguise' label, or they get the name of the toy wrong. Meaning once again... if you have a keen eye, you will be able to get them for cheap.

Maybe not today. Maybe not even this year. But perhaps a year later I'll come back to dust off this thread and a post a link to an Ebay auction...

Okay.. $25 for MP-01 two years later.. still not the norm. Custom boxed G1 Ravage for $20.. not really that rare of a find. If it was a MISC ravage for $20, that would be rare. I know a guy who I could send a loose G1 ravage to and he could make me a custom box. I have a bunch of WST in custom boxes from this guy.

I'm not sure who made this custom, but I known it was a guy who's not taking any more orders for these. And since a loose Ravage goes for 18-20$ ususally, getting a custom boxed one for the same price was well worth it!

Here is a pic of Ravage from the last Huncon (that custom wood-carved glow-in the dark Kremzeek was the grand price of the TF quiz which I was lucky to win... well until next year anyway when I'll write the quiz and the next winner will get the trophy! ;) )

Oh, Snap!

I am a 30+ year old collector with experience ... just like you!

You are wrong. I was actually going to reply to your original post and tell you that your an idiot but CP beat me to it but I will say it anyway. YOU ARE AN IDIOT!

...rare and expensive? Are you kidding me? You consider those RARE? What you have there is second or third or fourth hand junk you found at a yard sale, nothing rare there.

Oh MP-01 for $25 SUPER UBER RARE! Let me guess, it's not even MP-01 it's the damn Hasbro version that went on clearance for $25! I guess with your awesome experience and age with all things Transformers you can tell the difference between the Takara release of MP-01 and the Hasbro release.

Was that useless enough for you? Please reply.

Look, if you're as experienced as you claim in collecting (not calling that into question), then you have to understand the dynamic that occurs between exclusive released items, international purchases, and collector interest.

You want to talk about a difference in posting attitude between here and TFW, but in your post you give no reason for anyone to believe the things you're stating. Not only that, but you base your example off of a faulty model.

Comparing general releases from Japan is worlds different from store exclusives.

The point is, you're speculating over prices based off of that faulty model and not accounting for several specific aspects of actually acquiring the toys. Further, the examples you provide, while probably true, are unique circumstances. The number of people who get those deals is insubstantial compared with those who will not.

Here is a pic of Ravage from the last Huncon (that custom wood-carved glow-in the dark Kremzeek was the grand price of the TF quiz which I was lucky to win... well until next year anyway when I'll write the quiz and the next winner will get the trophy! ;) )

Looks like one of Mirage's Boxes customs. Same guy I got my stuff from.

People like you are the reasone I prefer TFW2005, where the average age is not 15...

... too bad it was down yesterday, eh? :)

But my point was, if you'd have TRIED to read my post, that I don't like CP's condescending attitude of telling me I'm wrong.

As I showed, I could get rare and expensive toys for cheaper prices. I will do that with these seekers too, and I'll bet I have an easier time then hunting for a Botcon seeker, mainly because these will be produced in larger quantities?

And please don't reply to this unless it's some usefull comment, and not 5 pages of sensless laughter... You remind me of a Quintesson (which is odd since you are called Kranix). ;)

First off, don't bring up competitive websites on the forums, thats an insult to everyone here and an insult the website in general.

Second, you speak of rare finds. You speak of possibility of finding a certain item at a certain price. To my knowlegde, MP Convoy was a general release item, same with Ravage. The argument is over exclusive items that will only be available to a limited market.

Those preorders going up tomorrow, yeah, unless you live in Japan, you're not getting one of those. Maybe you got a shot through BBTS or TFSource, but you're paying their markup for the item.

Ebay? Have you seen Botcon prices there? Have you ever seen a Botcon exclusive like Thundercracker or the other seekers sell for less than 150.00 USD? Anywhere? Not just ebay.

So to compare a lucky find of a 25 buck MP 01 to an exclusive is a bad comparison.

You know what is insulting to me as a fan?

The commentary track on the Sony 20th Anniversary edition of Transformers The Movie with the guy who runs tfw2005.

I somehow made it thru with out stabbing pencils in my ears.

Hey First Gen,

I'm sorry about my last post too. I just kind of had to.

I am not more focused than ever on the Henkei Thundercracker topic!

No worries. I just hate when people pull the "this is why i prefer the other place" card. If thats the case, then stay over there. We don't need your negativity here.

Okay, so uh.... This gonna sound really stupid but I'm really not up for reading through all the pages of this topic. I got to like, 14, and my head is swimming. I'm also extremely tired since I work graveyards and its currently 5pm, so my spelling & memory is probably way off

But... My actual question: These are going to available at actual brick-and-mortar stores that you can walk into IRL and pick up off the shelves, right? And they're called ToyHobby and Ganbo? Like, those will be the names of the stores over the doorway, correct? And last, which store is getting which again?

I got a friend who's currently deployed to and temporarily living in Japan.........

This is nuts, 17 pages in a day or so? I do just want to say I respect everyone here, even those I don't agree with.

I am a Botcon 07 set owner who has no problem with the Henkei release.

However the people who are thinking these new ones will go for cheap are probably not being realistic.

If you want them, pony up for them and buy them, it's as simple as that. If not, then your argument has lost all of its merit.
