I'm not clear on why anyone would need this info. The gist of it is that either company has free use of the molds once made. Whatever paint decos and whatnot they decide to use are entirely up to the respective companies. From what we're told, they won't copy something exactly for either market and when it comes to Botcon stuff, Takara decides whether or not to do something similar or not. No one says they cannot.

And to be brutally honest, I don't know why you bother. Some people are just going to go right ahead and assume that Hasbro/Takara/the Great Pumpkin sits around, twirling their moustaches and looking for new ways to annoy us. Case in point are the people who, despite your very clear explanations as to how the Botcon '07 set came about, insist the decision was "stupid."

Dude, you must have the patience of a saint.

Kukuku.

So much useless prattle.

The thing I'm looking forward to most other than the figure release themselves are the number of Thundercracker related web comics which will doubtless start showing themselves in the coming days.

I hope Matt Moylan doesn't let me down come Monday morning!

Yes, I have BotCon Thundercracker. I got the whole set as part of my "BotCon Experience", and when you divide it up I only payed around 50$ on him individually. I spent a lot of money to go to BotCon with the "whole package", with the exclusive toys and flying to Providence from Montreal on a Canadian holiday weekend. And, yet, I've left my BotCon exclusive box set in the box and on a shelf. To me, the toys were a very secondary thing compared to the memories I have of BotCon and the memories that those toys conjur up.

The Henkei/Botcon toys are different enough from eachother to not, in my mind, change the way I feel about the BotCon Thundercracker. He is, and always will be, the recognizable BotCon toy. For character collectors it won't matter which version they get, but for those who want a BotCon version it will still hold the same value. These are still exclusives, no matter what you say. They won't be unlimited production and will still demand decent prices, either or.

Now, can anyone tell me how much that Clear Convoy might go for?

Can you or any owner of Botcon TC tell me whether his vertical tailfins are colored blue or are black with the classics stripes? Because on the web, I found pics of both versions...

Mine has black vertical tailfins with red and white "classics" stripes. It's a touch awkward, but you don't really notice it much, especially the way light tends to fall on the toy.

I didn't get back into collecting until adter last years BotCon so I missed out on the GoD set. I found pretty good deals on Ebay for Thundercracker and Dirge, yeah I paid mark up but I am completely happy with my purchases and don't regret it at all - even now with the Takara announcement. My only wish now is for a Takara Thrust as he is the only seeker I don't have and right now Ebay prices are over what I am comfortable paying, more than the average of what I paid for my Dirge and Thundercracker.

If cheap enough, I may order it. Still, some part of me agonizes over this release. It’s not fair to those who went to Botcon, its not fair to Botcon.

I get the feeling that a greedy side of the fandom will cheer about this for a long time, another side, may just leave forever.

Shame on those who demanded this release, shame on Takara for going through with it and shame on Hasbro for allowing this to happen back in 06...

Shame, SHAME!

Oh, good grief.

So, it was fair that the remaining seekers were unavailable to a large part of the fandom, but it's not fair to botcon that now a single seeker from that set, with a different paint job, is being released in limited numbers in a different country?

Last I heard, this Thundercracker is about as limited as fruit at the store. They’ll be making as many as they get Preorders for, THERE IS NO LIMIT.

And no, it’s not fair at all. I’m sure there are a lot of people here who understand me saying this. Put your self in their shoes for a change, you save up a TON of money, take off from work, get on a plane, get you’re overpriced toys that were never supposed to be released anywhere else, then two years later, they release what is virtually THE SAME THING.

Look at Getterdragun, he wouldn’t have gone to that Botcon if he had known it would be released like this. No where near as many people wouldn’t have gone, but they were told this would be the only way to get their seekers. So much for that.

Now, doesn’t any of that sound the least bit unfair to you?

It's all a matter of personal perspective, as is everything. If you feel you have been slighted, just wipe away your tears and trudge on through life. It would seem that not everyone can be happy in every situation, and is a moment for the second chancers to celebrate their good fortune.

And although I’ve been complaining about this I’ll look into getting my own.

While I agree with you on principal, why was this so hard to understand prior to Henkei Thundercracker?

If I told people to "get over it and move on" in regards to BotCon, I'm a jerk and elitist.

For the same reason it is now so hard for others to accept that it now will exist. Once the glove changes hands it turns from your moment of fun posting pictures of gospel choirs chanting "never gonna happen" to the chance for the other side to chant get over it and move on.

When things don't go in someone's favour there will always be those around to remind them that life goes on regardless.

Whether it's done nicely or is done with intent to frustrate is down to the individual.

Well it wasn't Tekka that called people that, it was them others, cof Starscream, cof.

But now I'm kinda having a hard time, well I wanted to go out with friends to the Comic Saloon erlangen on Saturday, but I also want these Toys, now I'm shure I could get my parents to grant me getting ether the toys, or going to CSE with extra money, but not both. So once again I miss out on TT.

I said the same thing to those who wanted Thundercracker before. Even though I make a point of sticking up for the have-nots my advice was that if they wanted Thundercracker badly enough to save a little and get him but if they weren't willing to put in the time and effort of saving then it was best to just walk away.

Granted $250+ is a lot of money to save for such a small toy, especially for those who are financially challenged. But at the time it was the only advice I had to offer them.

I personally spent £150 on obtaining Thundercracker because of my unfortunate location. I feel I have been slighted by the appearance of a Thundercracker I like the look of more and could potentially get cheaper but I have no intention of making an issue of it or replacing the one I made the effort to pay for.

Money is only money but it's a shame when something better and cheaper comes along.

I suppose it's all about being lucky. Sometimes you end up paying in more ways than one.

Go ahead and mention the taunting that went on between me and a friendly rival over the matter. Try to make me look like a jerk in all of this.

You fail to mention my advocacy for people to buy these things when they were first available.

You fail to mention the people that I help out in regards to BotCon.

You fail to mention the downright immense amount of time I put into making sure fellow collectors are properly informed on these issues.

Congrats on actually pissing me off in regards to all of this, that's genuinely not easy.

I still have my BotCon Thundercracker and an inside source to get Henkei Thundercracker, so it's all good.

(ps: refrain from PMing me about that source for now folks. )

I can't say I'm entirely innocent. I did use him as an example because I was talking to him. I'm sorry for that though, there are plenty of others who did the teasing so I'm not pinning solely on Counterpunch.

Everyone has a part to play, even I'm now being antagonistic in my own way, shamefully.

Congrats on actually pissing me off in regards to all of this, that's genuinely not easy.

Maybe you should give him a good ol' Shoryuken!

You are wrong and your opinion on the matter is wrong.

Read up on what the more experienced collectors have put down and respect that they're taking time to give out good advice next time.

Oh please... 'More experienced'... I'm over 30. I have some toys in my collection I bet most people on this board don't have and hardly ever will. Not because I'm so rich, but because they ARE that hard to find.

And if I learned something from TF collecting, is that NOTHING is impossible to get for cheap. I got my Takara MP 01 (MIB, 100% complete) for barely 25$... I got a custom boxed G1 Ravage for only 20$... Why? 'Cause I didn't rush to buy them when they were avaliable, not only because my wallet was quite thin at the time, but because I don't like spending more then 50$ on a Transformer...

As the Predacon leader, Razorclaw put it, "all good things succumb to those who await" And I was willing to wait a year after I heard about the Botcon seekers, I can wait a little more until the Heinkei Exclusives will be up for affordable prices. All you have to do is to wait, and have a keen eye. I waited 2 years to get an MP Prime. I am a patient man. I can do it again.
