think blonde girl in distress was awful... seems we're going backwards

op on grimlock was epic but cheesy at the same time.. is there a word to describe epic cheese (and no gruyere doesn't count)?

Hope they remember to include some plot round the holes this time.

You could always just not watch them. Then you won't be disappointed.

Exactly.

you kidding me? why would I miss such great nuanced acting as mark whalberg's or the intricate storytelling and tight directing that were evident in the last film. I'm a sad loser who thinks the franchise, back story and characters deserve better treatment than they received in the last 2 movies. At least there's always SFX porn.

Oh there will be a Swoop but as a toy. Hasbro will recolor Strafe, call it Swoop, and thus people will be happy. Kinda confused as to why it's a two headed toothy Quetzalcoatlus ( :-B ), or at least one head being one as I saw the crest, but meh, it's cool as hell. Grimlock looks like he'd be the size of the 90's American Godzilla, but more badass. :michaelbay: Now I need more sideshow bob personified Frasier. As Kelsey Grammer will always be up there as one of my favorite actors.

Honestly don't care how many times the other Dinobots will be renamed....regardless, Giant Dinosaur robots that make even Prime a small individual. :KREMZEEK:

Bay can safely reimagine all of the Dinobots except for Grimlock. Grims is the only one with a lot of character development in the books or cartoons. The others are just along with him as team mates. And yes, doing the original 5 Dinobots would be massively strange if they were scale to the animals that they are modeled after.

Swoop would be likely quite small and weak. Sludge would be insanely huge and slow.

What's weird is, why is Grimlock so damn huge? A real T-Rex would be shorter than Prime in his robot mode. So it must be scale to Prime as though Prime were an average human's size compared to his dino mode.

Strafe is not a dinosaur. We know from product package art that a Triceratops is in it. So what is Strafe modeled after? Q/Wheeljack isn't involved in their creation. So we know that Bay is writing a whole new origin with new characters. I just hope Grimlock is roughly akin to the G1 character. I love the War Within Grimlock best. Bay has another opportunity for great character development. But I would expect him to blow up that chance like he always has. Still want to see this movie for sure though.

Now that we have seen the trailer, lets analyze

Postby Grimlockprime81 » Mon Feb 03, 2014 5:21 pm

So I have spent a good part of the day looking at the photos and watching the video. The 3 things i have been looking at the most and trying to figure out are as follows.
1. Who is the "megatron" looking individual, and does he have a parts that could give away what vehicle he is. I do notice a grey color with blue on it, could he be the Cab truck? Also, he has a large orange, almost glowing , space in his chest, maybe a power source?

2. Looking at "Lockdown", I am having a hard time seeing how he could be a Lambo
he seems to big and menacing..

3. When OP get's shot, it seems he is on top of another "bot", either helping, or hurting. I am wondering who it is

Is anyone else good at analyzing and maybe notice anything that the rest of us haven't?

Well, I'm not exactly sure if it would work, but Shockwave did crash in Siberia, which is fairly close to China (I know it's not that close, but it's on the same landmass.). Maybe Shockwave brought them, and they escaped during the crash and made it to China?
On another note, I've realized why Optimus riding Grimlock bothers me so much. Judging from any Grimlock's personality, would he ever let himself be used as anyone's mount?

Maybe the dinobots don't have their personality at this stage and are purely animalistic, like that G1 episode.

Well, Swoop gets a bit of development, too, and he's pretty much second to Grimlock as one of the more recognizable of the Dinobots. The others - Slag/Slug, Sludge, and Snarl - rarely get any real characterization (the recent Beast Hunters comic probably being the exception).

Adimus Prime wrote:And yes, doing the original 5 Dinobots would be massively strange if they were scale to the animals that they are modeled after.

Swoop would be likely quite small and weak. Sludge would be insanely huge and slow.

Swoops always been the smallest and most vulnerable of the Dinobots anyway (especially his wings). Sludge being the biggest of the Dinobots... has never really been clear (at best, he's as big as Grimlock when he shows up).

What's weird is, why is Grimlock so damn huge? A real T-Rex would be shorter than Prime in his robot mode. So it must be scale to Prime as though Prime were an average human's size compared to his dino mode.

Not all that surprising. Grimlock has always been bigger than Optimus in either mode, unless the plot requires him to fit in Prime's trailer. ;)

Wow, thats a terrible reply.

We've all known the team of dinobots to be Grimlock, Swoop, and Slag/Slug, and the others, from G1, to the comics, to animated, to the games. etc. I know armada did its own stuff, but in the toy realm, theres so much room to just do whatever (i.e. pcc combiners). And sure, its Bay, and he does things how he wants with his own TF continuity, but you can't possibly be so arrogant to a fellow fan who is both surprised and wishes it was the original team.

He just means that if everything after G1 was always done just like how G1 did it, then nothing would ever be new/different/unique/etc. since we would always get the same old stuff as always, including characters.

No new characters, no new ideas, no new Dinobots, just same old same old stagnation.

Those horns on Grimlock got me thinking--he might not even be a T-Rex but another (fictitious? Cybertonian, even?) species altogether. That might explain his massive size.
