Has anyone seen the IMAX showing?

How is it?

Some comments here please. I'm interested to get some details and feedback.

I saw it last night in Cincinnati. I didn't much care for the theater, but the movie looked great in IMax format. The CGI scenes for the most part looked cleaner and easier to pick out details. We saw details that we hadn't been able to make out before on smaller screens. Brawl looks a whole lot better. The final battle overall looked cleaner. It was fun to see that big. The sounds alone are 100% better with the 12,000 watt Imax sound system they had.

But the theater was disappointing. This wasn't like any IMax I'd been to before. Seems like they took a regular theater out of the Showcase complex it was in, and replaced it with the big screen, kind of retrofitted what they could into it. Every other IMax I've been to was purpose built, and the screen wrapped around somewhat and was wider, and the seating brought you closer to the screen by making the angle of rows steeper. The way this one was setup, I could still see the screen edges just fine in my field of view, and I just didn't get that engrossing feeling from it like I have other theaters. Most Imax's make me kind of queasy and borderline motion sick, but last night it was more like a regular screen, just 2-3 times bigger. I don't know if most IMax's are like this one, but I've been to better screens, like the Air Force Museum's IMax in Fairborn OH. That one will make you sick to your stomach because it takes up your entire field of view with the seating arrangement and wrap of the screen. I've about lost my lunch in there several times.

nope. but Pontimax 01 is right about Brawl. He does look better. Everything look better. you know that scene when protofrom optimus changes into the truck, before it looked like he was so far away up on that hill, and now it looks like the actual truck is right in front of you.

Yes there is new footage:

http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=11646

And none of it is robot footage. That's right people. Don't bother to get excited over this one, aside from the visual side. Transformers on IMAX is lame. It's all human new footage.

I wouldn't go that far. It's worth seeing on its own, just not for the extra crap they randomly sprinkled in.

I can't disagree. Honestly, it's too much action. It's loud and almost as confusing. Honestly, you can still hardly tell what's going on in the final battle. I don't know if it was due to a larger screen with more detail, or because I had seen it once before, but it was only somewhat easier to understand.

The visuals are not that much better. The TF's look great, yes, and I can honestly see how Bay would say it's the future of action movies. But they still only spend so much time actually looking at the TF's. It's a crime, the little amount of time they get, after the work that went into them. If I was at ILM, and I just might be someday, I would be extremely upset.

I support a human-centric movie. Always have and always will. But not one where the TF/human ratio is at least 1:4. And then they have the balls to hype NEW FOOTAGE, and it's stupid bullshit about Sam and Miles, and Lennox flirting with a black chick, and Simmons cracking wise. And it will be on the DVD, with only one of the scenes having not deserved to have been deleted. When I see TF deleted scenes I want scenes about the damn robots. I want to see where Barricade went, I want to see more Starscream lines. A human centered movie is the way to go, but they went overboard in the first version.

If it was just "TF's on IMAX!!!1 BAM BITCHES!!!1" then I would be happy. It's loud. It's fun. It's tasteless. It's Peter Cullen with an even more intense voice. But they showed their true colors with this new footage. Best to have just saved it for the deleted scenes part of the DVD so people could say "yep, good thing it was cut".

And personally, I wasn't even that much of a fan of the IMAX. It was too loud and too crazy. Bay's directing style is too hectic, even the calm scenes are rushed. This is the second time I've seen this movie and it can be the last. Both times I literally came straight home and went right to bed without supper. It's literally that exhausting. Oh, and it gave me nightmares.

Just saw it in IMAX (5th viewing, wewt!). I don't know if anyone else noticed, but the "leaked" Transformers theme from sectorseven.org made it into the IMAX version. You can hear a snippet of it playing from Bumblebee's radio when Sam picks up Miles at his house.

I don't even have the choice to not go to the IMAX version, Sydney IMAX is too stingy to put it on.

Though I did see it on a fairly large screen, and I cannot imagine the Motion Blur would be a good thing to see on a Screen the size of a 4 story building...

Saw it, enjoyed it as much as the other two times. No sickness, it still had the same faults as the original version, and it still had the same goodness as well.

Plus, I haven't seen it since mid-July, and it was nice to see it again in the theater before the DVD release. :-?

It was great! Just saw it last night in IMAX. Some good little scene extras. The scene with Sam getting interviewed by the crazy cop was funny. Liked the little "This is your brain on drugs" commerical added. Some good stuff and was happy with it. I didn't think it would be 2 added minutes of robot action...

They also hadn't fixed the Brawl name yet. Still says Devastator.

Was great to see the clarity and feel the lous booming sounds of Transformers! Woo hoo!!!

Only 10 days left til DVD!!!

I just saw it on IMAX this afternoon.
It was great. I liked that they tied up the whole
BB/ Barricade first encounter by showing Barricade
lying in a broken mess, which they should have done in the first case.
I liked the Drive-In better though. I had the sound so close to me and the bass actually rumbled in my car. Plus the screen was bigger there I think than the IMAX screen.

Unfortunately, little was shown of the actual fight. We were only made to understood that they did fight in the background. While the camera is concentrating on the couple and Frenzy. Then suddenly, there you have it, Barricade laying in a broken mess.

Yeah, this is where the leaked early draft script wins. It went in greater detail to show how he was bashed to pieces. Ah well.

On the contrary, you may enjoy it more when drunk. Lots of shots are made with dizzing jittery camera and super close ups.
