Prime was on the outskirts of the city, hence why you see the last stages of his transformation out along the highway.

Ironhide landed in the pool, climbed out, stepped over the little girl then scanned the truck in the drive way.

Thanks Burn, how confusing. I really thought it was Optimus too.
Because of his foot that you see very close.

Again??? Here we go.

I think it's Prime, because it looks like Prime. Foot, yes. Tall and lean, yes. Face sheild, yes.

Some think it's Ironhide because the TopKick is scanned right after that pool scene. All of those scenes are jumbled together if you watch, so one can't count on what's "next."

Nobody knows for sure, that's the answer. There are good arguments from both sides.

He walks with a limp when he gets out of the pool, and this is indicative to Ironhide's age and battle history.

Then again, if I were Prime ... and did a "cannonball" from space, into a pool. I'd surely be limping, at the very least.

Make your own call, watch that section of the movie a few times. Look at the pool bot, then look at Prime standing on the hill right before scanning the Freightliner. It's the same robot, IMHO.

The one that lands in the field looks shorter, stubbier ... and has gihugic forearms.

Maybe I'm seeing what I want to see, but that's just my opinion. Flamers, deal with it.

Seeing as you're so adamant AlienQuiksilver, care to justify your theory again? Because the way I see it, Prime landed out near a highway, hence why he was able to scan a semi driving along it.

Sorry, but you just seem to be grasping at straws. You say it's all jumbled, I disagree. I think it flows nicely. Ironhide climbs out of pool, hides behind trees, then we see him transforming. To me, that flows nicely.

And it makes more sense to me that it's Ironhide landing in the pool. Populated area and all. Sure, that house could have been out near the highway but then you have both Prime AND Ironhide out near the highway. Seems silly to me that they'd do that.

Sorr but I really can't see it your way.

Burn,

I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. I'm just stating that there isn't enough evidence for us to know who is who. We can guess, and it is sure fun to do so ...

... i'm just aggravated at some of those in other threads that discuss this, and how they can be SOooo sure.

I guess my post was a bit angry, doesn't make sense to anyone who didn't read my earlier posts. Even then ... I'm just fighting a battle I cannot win, and my added emotion isn't helping my cause.

If it flows fine for you ... awesome. Not for me at all. I could come up with a million reasons to justify my own analysis of this. Also, I could think of ways to defend your view point just as easily.

The simple fact being ... nobody wants to read that long of a post. :P I'd be surprised if anyone finishes reading this one ...

The fact that there are such debates about it proves that the landings weren't thought out very well. The protoforms all look somewhat similar, so it has an overall generic feel to it. Don't get me wrong, it's quite awesome to watch. It would just be nice if they made it a little more obvious on who is who.

The only obvious one for me is Prime. In the pool. LOL! Everyone else thinks it's Ironhide? This kills me. It's fine though, because one of the great things in life is that we all can see the same things ... in a different way.

It just really looks like Prime to me. It totally resembles him, as far as his build and certain details that I mentioned previously. His standing tall on top of that hill, right before the highway truck scan ... looks like the exact same bot that came from the pool. I haven't watched the scene in a while, but the legs are what I remember focusing on ... for the most part.

It looks enough like Prime, for me to ignore the order in which everything takes place.

Here's a thought to consider.

Obviously in their final forms they're uniquely different.

However in protoform mode there's probably not much difference. To me it's not much of a stretch for Ironhide and Prime to be similar in shape and size as protoforms.

And yes, I did read all of your post. :P

Yep, they are both pretty big ... IH and Prime. I have and do have to consider that.

It certainly wasn't Jazz or Ratchet in the pool, so at least it's been narrowed down to just those 2 possibilities among all of us.

I dont know how many times ive had this argument in the forums but it seems necesary to argue more since nobody really takes a good look at the bot in the pool and the bot on the hill.
THERES NO FREAKIN DIFFERNCE PEOPLE! Oh and theres really no reason to play that uber-dramatic catholic choir when ironhide was coming out of a pool. when you think about it that kind of music is only fit for the most iconic character of TF...The big p(not rodimus by the way hes a disgrace!)!

There's no reason to attack me. I'm very far from dumb. Maybe my imagination is just a little more active than yours?

Why don't you grace us with your analysis of the scenes, instead of blindly judging those who have the balls to offer their thoughts on it. You may have missed it, but Burn and I aren't attacking each other. We're respectfully discussing the matter. You aren't, why dontcha join in? =;

I just watched it again. So, Ironhide/Prime climbs out of the pool ... then the TopKick is scanned. 2 seconds later, Prime scans the truck from the side of a highway. The pool scene is closer than the field scene ... to the highway scan scene. Just throwing that out there.

1. bot crashes in field(!)
2. bot crashes in pool(!!)
3. bot scans TopKick
4. Prime scans Freightliner(!)(!!)

Since I can't seem to shut up right now. Also, when the Autobots are waiting for Sam and Mikaela to find the glasses. Prime and Ironhide are talking to each other briefly. Prime is WAYYY taller than the house, Ironhide is significantly shorter than the house.

Those trees by the pool are pretty fricken tall.

Was it Jazz who landed int he field or was that Prime/Ironhide? I say "the field" as in the one in the ad that gouged out the hill and then landed. It was Jazz who was "more awesome than Armageddon," right? Just trying to remember. It's been a few weeks since I last saw it.

Hrm. Maybe it's Wheeljack who landed in the pool. Let's go with that. His five-second appearance.

Indeed. This was completely uncalled for. It is quite possible for two people to have different opinions AND have a civilised discussion about it.

Hey AQ ... we just did something rare in the movie forum! :P

Easily explained.

Prime adopted an alt mode larger than Ironhide, therefore when they transform, Prime will be bigger.

However as Protoforms they could probably be the same size. Mass-shifting ... employed when scanning for an alt mode. And they thought they could get away with it. :P

Thanks for covering my ass Burn. :APPLAUSE:

I'll buy the mass shifting idea, but I dunno about Prime and the others being equal at any point! He is just a superior Cybertronian when compared to the other Autobots. He always has been, always will be. With the mass shifting phenomenon being very real in the TF world ... it's tough to take the discussion much farther. We would have to get ridiculously techical and nerdy about it. Like, does Prime just have more energon? What if BB got some more? Would he then be superior? Maybe just Prime's personality is what separates him from the others? Uyy!! This is opening a can of worms.

In an unrelated topic ... a lot of people on here are upset that Starscream and Blackout weren't taller in bot mode.

The idea being, helicopters and jets are larger than cars. Therefore, their bot modes should be larger as well? Makes sense, but I like to have an imagination about it.

Mass shifting. Possibly the extra mass is converted into energon, and stored into their weapons supply. Making it necessary for them to have SERIOUS battles in bot mode ... where they are more powerful, agile ... etc.

It's possible! Evidence for me is when Ironhide gets "lubricated" by mojo. When the camera becomes 1st person from Ironhide's perspective ... his right arm. Those missiles. When he puts them away, they seem to disappear into ... well, nowhere! Maybe they just go back into a pool of energy that he draws from?

That's the way I justify the unevenness of (or vanishing) masses. Without this logic ... I would be like "Pffft, that was stoopid!"

My heart tells me that it's freakin unbelievably awesome, therefore I manifest a way for it to remain awesome. :-B

ahhhh they said there'd be no mass shifting but I think that was one of the things they went back on. They just did it in a more subtle way.

And I checked the comic adaption and the prequel. The prequel has varying heights for protoforms, Bumblebee is bigger than Arcee and Prime is bigger than Bumblebee. But I don't think Ironhide appears in the prequel and the angles aren't exactly the best either.

As for the comic adaption, it sheds no more light on who landed where either. But it still looks like Prime lands out in the middle of whoop whoop, scans the truck, and is then met with Bumblebee and the stooges and then the rest of the Autobots come along (out in whoop whoop not in the city like in the movie)

I'm gonna throw in my 2 pence here.

I view it as Ironhide in the pool. The house in teh background as he transforms for the first time looks like the same house with the pool. And the bot who lands in the field moves with an 'ape like' movement to his running. Prime often moved like that in the movie (especially when under the bridge, hiding from Sector 7). That's my view, and I'm sticking to it.

okay, how do you know that the cliff is at the end of the field? The bot lands in the field before the pool landing. Both trucks are scanned afterwards.

Also, how do you know the truck belongs to the same family?

Insurgent, it should be mentioned ... there is no house in the background when Ironhide scans the TopKick. There are only trees. I suggest watching it again.

I will agree with you on how he runs in the field though. He runs just like Prime did when he was under the bridge.
