That maketoy devestator...

Postby decepta-scott » Wed Sep 14, 2011 11:12 am

Is simply amazing!!!!!! =P~ I am sure that it will cost an arm and a leg but I simply must own that.
Are we able to purchase him yet? Will he be offered as a whole or must we be made to purchase one figure a month? How much will he be and where can I go to purchase him?
Now before I envoke those who may tell me to "go do some research" I already have typed in all of the key words that I would expect to bring me to an ordering sight for him but to no avail. I mostly get pics and statements on him.
So, Can anyone help me out? Thanks! :)
I still cant believe how amazing that bot looks. WOW! Bruticus as well. I have been told I will more than likely be made to jump through many a hoop to own that little masterpiece though. All well. Devestator will do nicely!

Other than going on maketoy.com for prototype pictures and blurry images im pretty sure there is no other information at all on release date and price and how there to be sold.

Im holding out for him myself i passed on herc to buy the 3 crossfire upgrades but since i have a b-day coming up im so tempted to ask for Exgraver

but as you said MT looks amazing and is the perfect companion for supes and brutes and thats what keeps me on track to get him.

cant wait for some new info on him myself.

Yeah, we are all just playing the waiting game. I will be getting this one over the TFclub Hercules because I like that it will be closer in scale with Superion and Bruticus. I'm hoping that it will be cheaper then the TFclub one, but I have read rumors that the cost may be close to the TFclub one (est. $500). Just a rumor and I am still thinking $300 vs the almost $600 TFclub one.

Yeah, I'm thinking much closer to $300. I'm hoping for less but that's much easier to swallow than $600. Hercules has some weird overly large ape arms and hands I'm just not feelin'. It's just too "Pat Lee" for what I'm wanting. Giant will work much better in my collection and resembles the design cues from the previous combiner add ons.

I am still planning on getting both. But, based on the recent info, I'm not sure if Hercules will be any bigger than the MT version.

Based on all the info available, Hercules will be approx. 2 inches taller. Also appears it'll be twice as awesome, too. I also have a feeling Maketoy's will be more expensive than people are expecting when they're assuming it to be in the $300 range.

I was hoping the TFC version would be a lot bigger. I think he looks great. But, I also think the MT version will be great. I like that the robot modes appear to be more speak than the TFC versions. TFC's will be on a neural shelf in my display while the MT version will be my NeoG1 version.

Here's my stab at trying to make a scaled picture. I don't know how successful it it; the angle on Bruticus makes things tricky. I don't have Exgraver myself, so I can't take a proper picture.

Basically, I sized the arm pic so the upper part was the same size as the upper part of the prototype pic. Then I resized the Maketoys pic so the guns on Brawl are the same size. The waistplate seems to match up too, so I may have done it right.

I suppose it's unfair to judge blurred photos, but my impression off those pics was somewhat disappoint. If the price is more reasonable, I may double dip, but I'm more than happy with just Herc if it doesn't work out.

Hopefully, MakeToy takes their time and puts out something on par with FP. My Exgraver is in my PoL so I don't know about him yet although I have heard all good things. I also hope MT puts out a few Minibots first so we kind of have an idea of what these new-comers are all about.

pretty much how i feel. maybe silhouettes would have been more flattering on the bots? they look constructioney, but they arent the constructicons we grew up with. theyre like a second team of new recruits or something.

i agree with this sentiment. theyve promised us alot with the G2 prime upgrade and the minibots and now a full on combiner. now they need to make good on those promises. i dont plan on getting Giant as im firmly footed in TFCs product, but i hope they try their hardest to tempt me!

I see this guy and think Vortex from the Bruticus combiner:

Image

While Bruticus is awesome combined, his non-FP individual bots aren't the most impressive things.

I dunno, two of them look too skinny, one looks too fat, one reminds me of Kup, Hook might be alright but I don't think I care for the hook arm weapon, and that leaves one that appears to be pretty sweet...the one I presume to be Mixmaster.

Whereas with Herc, my only real gripe about their bot modes is I'd prefer Hook to have two defined feet. They all look pretty unison together, though, and I think they look legitimately awesome on their own.

And maybe clear pics will do wonders for these, but what we do see, most just appear to be kinda ugly...or at least lacking.

I understand what you are saying. But, on the other hand, that's kind of what draws me to the MT one. I think it is rather cool that the MT Devy still looks great with G1 accuracy while they were able to show some originality & creativity with the individual robots. Don't get me wrong, I like that TFC played it conservative and gave us an articulated G1 update. I just think it's cool & appreciate that MakeToy (appears) to be giving us something a little different.

I'd just like to see more than just prototype pics from MT right now. We've got a full schedule, one released and one about to be released from TFC as well as full color mockups of all six COnstructicons, Their quality, barring the shovel connector that they're fixing, is also great.

well one thing is apparent, there are two Devastator Camps - Camp Hercules (TFC) and Camp Giant (MT).

we both have oppinions on both, and we both prefer one over the other. Each Figure has its ups and its downs.

(please note that i do realise that these are preproduction shots and not final)
mad blender(mixmaster)'s cab could be more refined to look like an over cab truck i.e a more defined grill and window
the head on Giant - only shot i've seen is a distance shot and MT's website hides the actual head.

those are only examples, and im sure that there are other factors that will say "i prefer X or Y"

I had shown Herc, and Giant to the missus, and like me she loves them both, and prfers elements from one over the other - i guess it will be a wait to see what the true prices actually are.

I'm definitely Team Maketoy.

I like & prefer the smaller scale Maketoy devestator because it's slightly more 1985 cartoon/toy accurate in size scale.

I didn't like the Hercules combiner from the start. as i'm not a fan of over sized TF toys. from what I read on the internet, each constructicon is voyager sized & the hercules is bigger than a supreme sized TF toy.

At best the 1985 constructicons toys would transfer over to todays basic sized TF toys.

at best the 1985 constructicons cartoon size scale would barely transfer over to todays deluxe sized TF toys.

Having 6 new mold constructicons toys in the in-between basic-deluxe size would make the most sense. each constructicon robot mode could be 4.5 to 5 inches tall.

Honestly I think the combined gestalt mode for a new mold devestator should be no bigger than a new mold leader sized TF toy or a similar size scale to the 3 energon/universe 5-in-1 combiners.

TFC constructicons are voyager size when not formed into herc? Thats the final nail in the coffin for them as far as my money is concerned. I want to be able to have all six bots fit neatly into scale with my other collection. Make toy it is.

I went with TFC ... mainly because they started first, honestly. But I also like that the vehicles are larger, making them slightly more correct in scale to the deluxe cars. Maybe the individual Constructicons weren't taller than regular TFs on the toon, but Devestator was always shown as incredibly massive.

But if Maketoys was our only option, or even if they came out first, I wouldn't be unhappy. They're both fantastic interpretations of the character(s). Owning both would depend if Maketoy's version comes out at a denet time compared to the TFC version.

Im not after scale that mimics the originals. I simply want my constructicons to be as tall, not taller than my seekers, soundwave, prowl, ironhide etc. If the herc bots are voyager size that put em about an inch and a half taller than the gen figs yes?

Hm, but does that make Maketoys the automatic alternative? What if their Constructicons are much smaller than the Seeker mold?
