So true. Heck, wait six months, then put the extra sets up in the Club Store. If it's a worthwhile set, they'll sell.

I, for one, will be looking to trade a figure out of my 05 set to someone who doesn't want their 08 Goldbug. Might not be likely, but surely someone out there doesn't like Goldbug, right? I'll give up Deathsaurus for him in a heartbeat.

You may have a taker here. I was thinking of offering my loose set for the '05 set. I like Ironhide, need CHromia for my fem bikers, and Deathsuarus...well, it is an interesting repaint.

What is double insulting is them thinking that offering the '05 set as adequate compensation. The set is highly regarded as inferior.

No...I don't think that's the case.

Deathsaurus, Ironhide, Chromia, Flamewar, Fareup, and Ratchet are all highly sought after.

The 2005 set is really quite good in fact. It suffers in some regard because the 2006 and 2007 sets are goddamn amazing.

So would you prefer that they offer nothing at the same price?

I don't get why you're so angry about this. They can't get any more of the 08 set produced, so they are offering the 05 set at a discount. Something that they said that they would never do. And notice that I said "offering" and not "substituting," they are not forcing anyone to buy the 05 set.

Master Collector/Fun Pub really is trying to make the best out of a bad situation and I wish more people would be more appreciative of that. They could have done NOTHING and an outfit that cared less would have.

I don't blame people for being upset, but at some point everyone should move on. Let it be a lesson for next year if it has to be, but no amount of complaining is gonna make a couple hundred 08 sets suddenly appear.

As for the loose sets, look at my e-mail that I got from them in another thread.

That was said by quite a few members about last years set. I guess it fell on alot of deaf ears.

Truth be told, I almost missed out on primus last year, I got mine in just as they were selling out. This year with Botcon being early I wasn't thinking as much ahead, and like others I thought this year's set might not be as popular as last year's. However as I saw that Iacon had sold out and the term "unprecedented demand" was used I figured it would be a darn good time to get that primus in.

Anyone who missed that glaring red flag should blame themselves, not anyone else.

And any serious collector by now should know a) that sometimes a coveted item will sell out before they can get to it and b) that if something was too easy to get the value would be greatly diminished.

Would you be considering trading the entire set, or just a figure or two? I'd gladly trade set for set. However, if you're looking to hang onto some of them, the ones I really want out of the 08 set are Goldbug and Starscream, and you can pretty much pick any of my 05 figures that you want in exchange.

Well it is the case cause if they were as "highly sought after" as you presume they(FunPub) wouldn't still be sitting with a supply 3 years later. They would've been snatched up at the cons or the online store. Your entitled to like them but they are not sought after.

In response to "why am I so angry" from someone, its not anger so much as dissapointment. I separate the two cause I'm not blindly lashing out(even if it is interrpreted that way), I'm just adding my commentary of the situation. Look I'm glad they are offering/substiting the '05 set but the fact is what if they couldn't? If the '05 set was originaly sought after and gone just as the '06&'07 sets were where would we be??? Fun Pub would have nothing for those happy with the substition and those like me see it as a non-starter. This gets back to poor planning and why its better to be a Boy Scout and prepare(ie overorder) than having nothing to offer.

If their trend continues and they are indeed out of the '05 sets after this year what about next year when the '09 set sells out as it likely will. Shattered Glass had its haters and it sold out so with a TF movie sequel and Animated molds likely to be used or TF movie molds the possibility is the '09 set could be awesome. Fun Pub will have nothing for everybody then and the pi$$ed off populace multiplies.

I'm just putting this out there cause it appears some don't see the bigger picture and scope of how the exclusive con sets are mismanaged up to this point.

Tell ya what boss.

You look up the after-market values on the toys I mentioned and then tell me that they aren't sought after.

Deathsaurs goes for $100 easily. Ironhide is a $150 figure. Those two alone account for the cost of the set. Chromia sells for $50 easy everytime she appears online.

FlameWar and Flare-up are listed right now on eBay. Look at their prices at the moment. Note how this is several days before auction end. In the last hour, those two will top $100.

Rachet goes for $400.

The reason the sets specifically don't sell is because of the duds: Dirge, Buzzsaw, Riccochet, and the strongarm repaint. No one wants those. That makes it difficult to turn a worth while profit overall on the set. Setting that aside, the figures I mentioned are still quite popular and desirable.
