*EDIT* okay.. I swear to God this wasn't the post I was responding to. But that post seems to have disappeared.
Also, there is a lot more to Botcon than just the exclusives. You'll be missing out on a lot of fun if you cancel your trip.

I'm still going, but I'm pissed I won't get a Goldbug. Anybody that doesn't want their Goldbug, find me at BotCon, I'll buy it off you.

As for that alternative option, maybe they'llwork a package with Megs/Rodimus or something like that.
Again, I'm just glad I slipped mine in on time (barely)
To be honest, I was considering not going this year if I didn't get Primus.

This is going out to all members. If you have received a confirmation email concerning your registration, this notice does not apply to you.
The demand for this year's BotCon figure sets (both boxed and loose) has been unprecedented… and they are now officially SOLD OUT. Since manufacturing of the sets has already been completed, we are not able to obtain additional quantities.
In order to accommodate those who are still planning to attend, we are providing you with two new options:
1) You can still come as a Primus Package holder and we will substitute a 2005 BotCon Boxed Set
Descent into Evil (click here to view) - at the reduced cost of $250 for Club members, $300 for non-members - and in addition, you will receive this year's free attending figure. Loose sets are also available for $130 for Club members and $165 for non-members.
So that you can see what you will be getting this year, we have decided to do something we have never done before...we are going to unveil the free attending figure this Friday! This is the first time we have shown the free attending figure before the start of BotCon!
2) We are creating a new attending package designed for this year only!
The Energon Package includes admission to all events (just like the Primus Package, including the Casino Night Awards Dinner) a convention badge, pin and comic/program (no toys). The Energon Package is $180 for Club members, $230 for non-members.
If you have sent in a registration since February 14, we will be emailing or calling you to find out which package you want to switch to.
Attached you will find the current registration form with the new options.
Thank you, once again, for your support! We look forward to seeing you in Cincinnati!
Brian
PS. For those of you who have already registered, confirmation letters will be going in the mail this week.

However, if they open up those loose sets to everyone (and not just people who missed out on Primus)I could see myself buying one of those for the Ironhide.

Fun Pub. has a tricky job. They have to anticipate demand for a set far in advance while at the same time be careful not to get stuck with a lot of overstock.
I'm just glad I faxed my order in right away, even though I can't attend Botcon.
I am willing to trade my loose Iacon set for the free figure and all the souvenior sets if anyone out there is interested.

Well, tis better than nothing. At least I'll still get this year's Attending Figure.
I really only wanted Goldbug and maybe Starscream out of the Boxed Set this year, but I really have no desire for anything in the 05 Set. However, just to put this out there, what I really really want are the Seekers and Dreadwind from the 07 Set, and I'd trade the 05 Boxed Set in its entirety for even a loose set of Seekers and Dreadwind (i have no concern for Weirdwolf)
Ah, well, I'm sure there are folks out there who want this 05 Set, and one of them is bound to have something I want, right?
At least I can walk around BotCon clutching a box like it's pure gold this year like all you other crazies. Last year, I was merely a Protoform and didnt have a box to cling to.

I'm tempted to get them, but I'm afraid that if I do they'll screw up my registration and I'll end up with just the 05 set and nothing else. Just like last year how I got screwed out of the customizing class and Hasbro tour.

Yep, though, your reputation hadn't preceded you yet at the time, so I was unaware. I'm looking forward to tracking you all down again this year, now that I've been on Seibertron.com for a while and actually know who people are!

Excellent. I wasn't too sure, I had thought you told me you went by 'Savage Prime' for some reason. You'll definately have to come party with us Friday and Saturday.

I actually think this is a good encore to last years set. I was at the con in '05 and didn't buy the set then cause they were crappy. Having them as an option for this year is an insult.
I hope people do cancel their plans to come so they can realize and actually see how their poor planning is going to impact the bottom line. One down year with the reasons being realized and irked dealers should help correct the problem. Having extra sets is not the end of the world should they overorder. Case in point they overordered on '05 and the con didn't shut down. It wouldn't have this year either.

Regardless, I got my email and will be sending in my fax to them tomorrow. $300 is a nice discount compared to the original price. And while I have the originals of every single one of those figures, I guess I'm okay with getting some exclusive repaints. Though I can't sell the few I dislike to recoup some of my losses like I was originally planning on doing with this years set.

2005 sold poorly with a bit of a strange set, 2006 sold respectably with a really cool concept and 2007 sold very well with a homage to 2 things that really stood out, a continuation of the popular G1 classics line and updated molds for some hugely popular seekers, and besides it was in RI and the same year as the movie came out.
Listening to the fan reactions over this year's set and being that there's no movie out this year, how could they have possibvly figured they'd outsell the 2007 set?
And even so, as I said before, if you make too many it cheapens the value.

I been eying the Descent into evil set for a few weeks now and kept putting it off.I was going to wait till mid/end march to order one,but with things changing I went to the club store and ordered now before there gone too.Thats what I would recommend if you want one go to the store before they stop sales.
