The Dr Who (and spin-offs) Thread *potential spoilers*

Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

Due to the nature of the time war, it'd be a load of Time Lords sitting in a room, all flickering in and out of reality, whilst strange Salvadore Dali-like images pass over the screen. Occasionally the Doctor's Face (Oh, let's throw in more fanwank- ALL the Doctor's faces) would flash up shouting 'AAANGST!'.

Insert a tedious love plot, some political commentary, a few Dalek spaceships and the Doctor jumping away from explosions in a white string vest.

Fans would ejaculate onto their TV sets and it would be terrible.

If you want to watch the Time War, go watch this. Infinitely better than anything RTD could come up with.

Put the guy who made that in charge of Doctor Who immediately!
RTD has already pussied out of doing such a project using either the lack of budget excuse or some BS about the Time War being a different sort of war that wouldn't translate to the screens very well but that trailer is damn good example of why it should be done.

The problem with the whole "we don't have a big enough budget" excuse is he's thinking in terms of tv.

The Time War could easily be made into a theatrical movie. Forget the tv release, push DW onto the big screen and the time to do it is now with popularity surging across the world.

Of course BBC execs have never really been able to think like that ....

Maybe if the BBC see the sort of revenue Lucas will get from the Clone Wars movie it could get them thinking about the possibility that a Time War TV series or movie and related merchandise could also make a decent profit.

I think the thing we're all forgetting is that the Time War isn't meant to be seen. It's, to be blunt, RTD's convenient fudge to excuse the elements of the Classic Series he feels are a burden on the new series (while at the same time reinventing said elements, most often not for the good) while turning Doctor Who into something that it’s not meant to be: a vehicle to expunge his own personal views.

Say what you will, as much as I hated Torchwood series 1, Torchwood series 2 was far, far superior.

As much as Babel's videos impress me, I wouldn't place him in charge of Doctor Who. So he can plop a few bits of Starship troopers together with choice clips of time lords- it doesn't make him a competant writer.

Doctor Who has always relied on small scale quirky science fiction. Trying to turn it into Star Wars seems to show a misunderstanding of what the show's about.

Don't get me started on RTD and his agenda,no doubt he thinks he's being all PC and modern by making every other character some sort of homosexual/bisexual/whatever the hell else but he's severely overdoing it and instead of making these things more acceptable to the masses he's just putting people off watching, especially Torchwood where all the adult stuff often has no relevance to the story.

Weapon: Twin Sonic Cannons
The Doctor and Agatha Christie: I found it to be a nice light ep filled with delightful cheesyness. I don't think it's one of my favourites but I wouldn't call it a miss.

They got the tone just right for this one. It wouldn't have worked at all if the episode had taken itself seriously. There were parts that were laugh out loud funny, great comedy ep.

See this is something i've noticed.

The "Tate Haters" are all British, while all those who like her are non-poms. You guys have just had too much exposure to her.

Or you really are grumpy bastards living perpetually under an overcast sky. :P

I like Tate- and I've rarely, if ever, watched her comedy.

Over exposure seems to play a big part in it.

Well, that explains it. You like Tate because you're not aware that she's a poor comedy actress and a no-talent hack. Of course, watching "Runaway Bride" should have told you that straight off...

well that our she's a comedian who isnt funny, maybe i should talk to the trade discriptions about her, she aint funny.

as for exposure i've avoided her since day one yet she still makes me want to vomit when i see her on screen.

is it just me or do you think with the money she's been payed she'd get that chin mole/wart/conjoined fetus thing lanced from her face.

I enjoyed it as well..
I really laughed at the "kitchen scene"..

"HARVEY WALLBANGER???"
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

See, I refuse to watch any episodes Catherine Tate show at all, and I find she's not too bad.

That show really will be a stain on her resume for ever...

Good episode. I wasn't going to watch, cos I thought it would be bad, but it was pretty good.

Yes, I do wish she'd get that thing removed. It wouldn't exactly cost a bomb. (Heck, here's summat funny. I used to have a wart-thing on me left middle finger, but it's gone now 0_o )

I had one on my right hand, same finger, it was that huge it had to be burnt off twice. Great thing to have for a young kid's social life.

I disliked Tate in Runawat Bride.

Everyone has their ups and downs. Do you judge John Travolta's performance in Pulp Fiction by his performance in Battlefield Earth?
