The Missile Projectile feature....Did you ever really use it??

I remember loving Overload's gun as a kid because it was large enough to be held by kid hands. I even ran around outside with it. Of course, I lost a missile or two that way. It actually puzzles me how I managed to have one of them left nowadays.
And all the toys with working projectiels are always popular with my nieces and nephew... So I say that those things are definitely a positive.

Then compare this feeling with others you've experienced and let me know what you thought.
Spear is nothing, I tried various distances away from my head too. The shield projectile I was talking about is the projectile that Vector Prime and Hot Shot get. Copping it on knuckles and the inside of the knee are not fun.

Try to find Boss, Flash or Rotorstorm, those 3 seem to have the best firing weapons (in my experience) although it will of course depend entirely on how they were treated by past owners.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

If you haven't already, try flicking one of starscreams propeller claws and watch him shoot out his missles rapid fire style.
Leader optimus can't do that!
Unfortunately I only had fun with that for about a day before he got put behind glass with leader prime and CC08 BB.
oh well.

I do mess with the projectile every once in a while. While not play it like a kid, trying to shoot at other action figures, they are kind of fun, if they are there. But if the design of a toy became bulky or look stupid, I would rather not have the gimmick. So look and proportion is still higher priority to me.

I have no interest in firing missiles on toys, and never have. I was glad that Hasbro disabled the launchers for their reissues, although I really didn't care for the lack of chrome, or the giant elongated missiles that Jazz and Ultra Magnus were released with.

I don't really like projectiles because they are easy to loose, and because Movie G1 repaint SS shot me in the forehead several times while trying to put him in robot mode. I thankfully found out I could flip a piece and keep it from firing when the launcher rotates.
I don't mind them being part of the figure though, unless like with Movie SS where he has no hands.

As a general rule of thumb, if they can work the missile-firing action in without sacrificing the look of the relevant weapon, then the gimmick's fine by me. A bit "meh", usually, but fine. If they do have to sacrifice the look of the relevant weapon, however, then I'll usually dislike it. There are exceptions, however, like with Movie Voyager Starscream. Although I don't own the toy, the crazy gatling gun effect sounds like the sort of random thing I'd like, no matter how dangerous it is.
I also like the missile on Movie Deluxe Arcee, since it really works well with the crossbow, and fits well with her alt mode.

I'm not sure, I mean with the reissues, we got from Hasbro, the missiles were not chrome like they were originally released, so it didn't fit the accurate cartoon looks.. I was very disappointed, and then there is the whole starscreaam having nothing but missile launchers in one hand, He used the gun once in the freakin movie!!! come on!!!! anyways, I still think that the missile gimmicjks were just okay, but I really rather used my imagination and see lasers coming from them as in the g-1 cartoon..but some kids love missiles.. I do have to say that in Gi Joe a functioning missile launcher is a must!!
But anyways, i still don't see the appeal or use for missiles on the transformers.. like the whole Starscream from Galaxy Force, Takara Ver. that gun looks like crap with the missile in it, or classics Rodimus with the gun of his, looks dumb with the missile in it... either way.. I'm just not conviced I will ever like the missile or projectiles on the toys.

well how do missiles 'spoil' a weapon? I mean Leader Prime's blaster wasn't ruined.

As a kid I've used them. Hell its fun to blast your buddy.
Now days, the figures just sit all nice and neat, so the missiles fo unused. But I did try the missiles out when I opened them, like SS and '74 BB.

Hated missiles as a kid, still do. They always get lost, and they're seldom powerful enough to be worth it.

For anyone who hasn't seen Spotlight: Sledge (and why not?!), my gritty and dark fanfiction piece "Holiday" is posted here.

It's fun for the first 5 minutes after your girlfriend decides she's bold enough to touch your collection.
Other than that, I hate missiles. They always shoot off randomly and they're the first parts to get lost. For example, Leader Prime, missile gone the very first day. I don't know how the hell my old G2 flash survived with a missile intact.
I'd prefer if they weren't functional.
