It seems appropriate, shoddy construction on the building named after the mayor!
Cody dear, you need to be much more careful about explaining things to the bots!
Kade, cracking wise to the man who is in charge of your entire family's paychecks...not wise.

Episode 9 -
Another Back to the Future reference - Cody and Frankie are running a lemonade stand that accepts cash, credit, or Plutonium.
The Bots don't have air conditioning in their altmodes. Bummer.
Doc Greene hints at scientific activity conducted on the island prior to his moving there.
This show has so far done a good job at keeping track of when each episode takes place during the year. By this episode, it's now summer time. And there was an Earth Day episode before, so that fits too.
Cody and Doc Greene like the idea of using the weather machine to make the hot day a bit cooler, while Frankie suggests that they could just let it stay warm and just go for a cool swim. Their response: "Nah!" Simple logic, what's that?
Blades's reaction to the snow, "This is so strange," is so realistic it's too perfect.
UNICRON MENTION! When Boulder tries to hit the garbage can with a snowball and misses, Heatwave comments, "Nice try, green bean. you couldn't hit the back side of Unicron with a Lobbing Ball."
There's always a waterfall in this kind of situation.
LOL at Chase making a snow angel. The guy finally loosened up for once.
You know, it's a good thing the Bots never ask what Christmas is, since it keeps getting mentioned and yet it's never explained what it is.
This episode was much better than the last one.

Never thought I'd see Graham trying to play a sport (Basketball), since he's the bookish one.
Only Chief Burns could pull off the middle-age man wearing the hot bikini apron look.
The mayor originally made it so the lighthouse would only light up if its sensors detected a ship nearby in an attempt to conserve energy. Looks like that's coming back to bite him in the butt.
The Burns family has their own fishing boat: The Darby Ava. And, it's miraculously able to hold the weight of all four of the Bots.
So it IS a mechanical shark!
Blades: "It's a white whale, I say! Arrgh! Skin your eyes for him, men! Look sharp!"
Heatwave (annoyed): "Next movie night, can we rent a Romantic Comedy?" --
What? We missed the swimsuit competition in the pageant? What a ripoff!
Wait, it's a submarine instead of a robot shark? I hope not.
Blades just inadvertently referenced human death via a "Davy Jones Locker" remark.
Ah YEAH! This is more like it! Some serious robot vs robot action!
DUDE! The shark's set to self-destruct upon a hatch breach! Somebody apparently doesn't want to be found out.
And, Blades narrowly avoided being caught in the explosion! This show just grew an extra backbone.
Cody: "So, who was driving that thing, Dad?"
Chief: "Must have been self-propelled."
Cody: "But somebody has to be behind this. Someone built the sub, and programmed it to attack electromagnets. But who would do that? And why?"
-- Cody asks ALL the right questions.
And the same mysterious logo from episode 7 reappears here among the shark sub's debris. The plot thickens...
This was an EXCELLENT episode! Probably the best one yet! Lots of action, lots of suspense, the stakes were much higher than ever before, and it added a greater sense of mystery to the new plot. This just makes me eager for more!

Gotta like last weeks episode. If it had a secondary theme I would have to call it "Boys will be Boys". A little common sense suggestion from Frankie on letting well enough alone and every male in the vicinity looks at her in utter confusion.
Sweet and subtle Bro moment between Kade and Cody at the end there. "I believe the human word for that is score!"
And a reference to Cybertronians being sensitive to cold.

Based on the titles and descriptions for episodes 12-13, my guess is that he's named "Dr. Morocco" or something like that.Foxbear wrote:So, I think we can accept this episode as confirmation that this show has both a villain and an overarching plot. The nonobots might have been an accident, the shark? I like that we're getting an overarching plot and a villain/villainous corporation. ROBO SHARK MEANS BUSINESS.

The episode starts with a creepy vibe due to a thick fog covering the island.
Well, they sure didn't waste anytime getting right into the Dino Bot plot.
Wait, the Dino Bot has been reprogrammed by Doc Greene as a pet/butler/security guard? Let's see how long that last.
Frankie and Doc have named it "Trex". Heh, cute.
They seem to all be taking the fact someone's A) broken into Doc Greene's lab attempting to hack into the central mainframe multiple times, B) responsible for both the Nanites and the shark sub, C) hasn't been stopped form doing all this yet very lightly.
Trex sees someone in the fog. And that someone has Trex's remote control gauntlet.
Forget the Dino Bot, the whole town is under attack by... itself!
Okay, NOW Trex is a threat.
Hey, a "no texting while driving" lesson.
Gotta hand it to Frankie. She's gutsy, agile, nimble, and can outsmart a Dino Bot with grace.
Though the virus is removed, Trex is still infected, and is now loose in the city.
Soooooo, the virus infecting Trex overrides any new commands given to him, yet he still responds to old commands? I'm sorry, but wouldn't it make more sense for the bad guy's virus to override any and all commands instead of just new ones? That's kind of lame that it was beaten by a coffee command.
Boulder mentioned the AllSpark.
And the all live happily ever-- DOC GREENE JUST GOT FIRED?!!!!!!!
And the intruder has taken notice of this.
A good follow up to last episode, with the plot progressing and all set up for next week's big two-parter. Don't miss the mid-season climax, featuring Tim Curry, next week, May 19th, only on the Hub.

Trex might not be a real Dinobot but he sure has that Grimlock vibe going on.
It's good to see how Kade and Heatwave are actually getting along and working respectfully together as a team now.

Now he says this with no evidence that can be seen. Might this mean that the good Chief is aware of the
From their reactions to the Rescue Bots I'd say it's a safe bet none of the Burns offspring know. If Pops is holding out on them I wonder how they'd react if they ever found out.

I mean, it's full of exactly the kind of stuff that MECH is after. It's about as subtle as that Giant Decepticon Symbol base from the G1 episode "Enter the Nightbird".
Dr. Morocco "It sounds like you're building an army!...You are?"
So we have someone with deep pockets, building an army, and interested in the latest tech.
Sound like anyone we know?

Episode 12 -
Oh, man! Cody must be the luckiest kid alive, being given rides to school in a helicopter. A robot helicopter, no less.
Oh hai, new robot guy.
The MorBot appears to transform into some kind of armored assault tank.
Aha! The mayor refers to Dr. Morocco as having come back to Griffin Rock. So he is Doc Greene's predecessor after all.
And he had previously created dangerous and uncontrollable technology when he was last on the island, so there's good reason to not trust him this time.
Mayor: "Enough! Chief, you and Dr. Morocco come to to the City Council meeting this afternoon. I can't make any important decisions without pants!"
Mrs. Neederlander runs a Bed & Breakfast.
The mayor acknowledges that the Rescue Bots have replaced dozens of rescue vehicles since their coming to Griffin Rock. So I guess the Burns family really has had a monopoly on the emergency response departments of the whole island.
Boulder apparently kept the rubber ducky from the Robo-Baby episode.
I knew there'd be some form a cheating in this competition. Morocco's creating his own emergencies via sabotage to gain the upper hand.
THE SCOOP CLAW IS BACK!!! They're going all out on this one!
Wait a sec. The crates are filled with explosives, and yet have not exploded despite being engulfed in flames? OR being knocked out by that huge wave? Either that's some powerfully insulated wood, or those are the most dullest explosives in the history of explosives, having a delayed reaction to, you know, explode!
That's a mighty fine history lesson about John Henry that Cody's telling the Bots (save for his covering up the end).
I just noticed that Cody's been looking at all different parts of the town from the Command center. Does the Burns family have camera stashed all of the island to monitor everyone? Not only do they have an emergency services monopoly, but they've also got a Big Brother security system set up to spy on everyone. This is giving off mixed messages for a kids show.
Great Scott, the Delorean's back!
The Nanites are back too.
Boulder finished the John Henry book. A solemn moment.
This has got to be the Rescue Bot's first true defeat.
Frankie and Doc have discovered the Nanites. Let us proceed to Part 2...
Episode 13 -
Horace Burns was the founder of Griffin Rock, and he has a memorial statue of himself. His "immortal words" were, "The march of progress somethings leaves casualties underfoot."
Mr. Harrison is in danger by his own helicopter pack again. The gag is getting old if it's the same old stuff each time.
Morocco is talking to some sort of customer when he's at the lab. Whoever this contact is, it could lead to something bigger than this show has ever been.
Boulder's taken up painting. Just like Animated Bulkhead. And the resemblance only enhances.
Heatwave's been trying to contact Optimus Prime.
They still have access to their ship from episode 1? Awesome!
OH SNAP! Morocco was monitoring the MorBot's optical analyses, and he saw when Heatwave spoke on his own. So now Morocco may know that there's more to the Rescue Bots than... well, you know.
Ahhh, Kade cares about Heatwave leaving. The two really have grown closer.
Morocco's contact is interested in weaponized technology and is building an army. Could this contact be... MECH?!!!
Morocco's plan is to get revenge on Griffin Rock for making him into a pariah before by selling off the island's advanced technology.
Morocco's blimp computer has blueprints for everything he's created and/or sabotaged to get to where he is.
ALRIGHT! Time for some series Rescue Bots vs. MorBot action!!!
...WHAT?!!! It was all done off screen?! What a ripoff!!
Well, at least everybody got their proper jobs back.
Morocco's gotten away, having stolen the Mayor's schooner.
And with that, it comes to a close. These were most EXCELLENT episodes. The stakes were the biggest they have ever been, and morals of compassion and reason were neatly wrapped around it all. Dr. Morocco is a superb villain, having a multi-faceted personality, a thorough agenda, and a realistic motive. He portrays a different kind of threat that can prove to be just as much a force to be reckoned with as MECH and the Decepticons. Not to mention the outstanding performance by Tim Curry breathing life into this malicious man made him all the more developed. I can't wait to see more of both him and this series. If this is to be the level of writing to come in later episodes, then all I have to say is, RESCUE BOTS, ROLL TO THE RESCUE!!!

My favorite part is the voice acting, though. I really like Steve Blum as Heatwave, and Tim Curry is phenomenal (as always) and Jeff Bennett is good to hear (having just watched the new Korra this morning >.> lol) and not to mention D.C. Douglas who takes me back to my Mass Effect days.
I still like Prime more, though.

Don't forget Maurice LaMarche as Chief Burns, who, aside from Tim Curry as Morocco, was probably the best portrayed character in these two episodes, giving a very strong performance and a compelling characterization.crazyjeffy wrote:This two-parter was the first RB episodes I've watched, and it's pretty impressive for what it is. For what each of them are, no doubt. I think Prime makes for an exceptionally well-written, well-animated, well-voiced action show. Despite what many people think, I really do enjoy the toyline (still need Knock Out and Ratchet >.>) and I admit I'm very skeptical on the upcoming mmo. The show, I think, is more focused on older people with a couple additions that appeal to younger audiences (such as Miko)
And on the other side of the coin, Rescue Bots is a prime *nudgenudge* example of a good kids show. However, instead of collecting the toys myself, I know of a certain nephew that will definitely be getting presents.
The Aligned Continuity is by far my favorite.

- "his heart gave out" would normally bug me (dancing around death and all), but it just works here; I guess it has to do with being phonetically similar to "give up," which is what Boulder was feeling
- Chase's cooking, oh my. And Boulder using the "soup" as paint, haha!
- "I can't make any important decisions without PANTS!"
- Boulder's eyes seem to switch between orange and blue...
- Curiously, Optimus in Prime happens to be in Antarctica while Heatwave tries to contact him. Hmmm...
- Got to wonder who Dr. Morocco was talking to. And if it is indeed MECH if it'll have any affect on Prime.
- I don't know why, but I just love that angry fist shake that old woman gave MorBot after "saving" her cat.

"He must have changed the password!"
"Nyyes, he must have. Clever man, that Doctor Morocco."
- "Oh, that's unfortunate."

"He may end up destroying a nearby planet or two, but such is life."
