The ones that got away: Which Transformers do you most regret not buying when you had the chance?
Number 2: When I was a fresh faced kid of only 5 years old I went to the toy store and had a choice between getting G1 Rodimus Prime or G1 Galvatron for Christmas. I had just seen Transformers the movie (firs movie I ever saw at the cinema, almost cried when Optimus died).
I picked G1 Rodimus Prime because he was the good guy and proceeded to regret it for years as my friend had the Galvatron toy (not the best robot mode but the gun was cool) and I ended up being very jealous.
Number 2: i was on holiday the next year in Europe and had a chance to get some G1 Transformers a bit cheaper than back home.
Faced with G1 Devastator, Grimlock and the a G1 Shockwave knock off (you know the grey one).
I chose Grimlock (because he was the good guy and a great figure) and the grey Shockwave (because it was a gun which was an alt mode I didn't have in my collection, so actually the Galvatron mistake had repercussions). By the time of the plane home I wished I had got Devastator and with the lack of a re-release even until now I still regret that one.
How about everyone else?

Went back the next week and they had got hold of the box but also pushed up the price to $400

Henkei Wildrider...man, I know he was available for under $100 and I should have nabbed him then...now it's just rediculous. Oh, and Cleary Crystal Convoy too. Shoulda grabbed him when he was at around $150. Now I kinda just want to work on my Classics/Universe/Generations stuff.

Alternators Swerve, at 2 different TRU's in 2 weeks at retail price.
Never saw him again, had to pay 80 bucks to finish my Alternators collection.
But I later sold him for a nice profit, so it's cool!

I would say 2008 set of Botcon figures but I've got them squared away. Now if I could only find Henkei Strafe and Wildrider at reasonable prices...

One figure I passed on that I shouldn't have, was the Target exclusive Big Convoy repaint, Nemesis Prime. I wasn't really interested in Beast Wars molds at that time, but now I'm kicking myself for passing on him. Same goes for the Beast Wars figures that showed up in Armada. All of them have gone up in price since retail release.

My biggest regret is not getting Universe (1.0) Tankor & Obsidian. Instead I got E-Hot Shot and E-Inferno, what was I thinking! Tankor & Obsidian would never see release in Europe, so getting them while in the States would have made sense, but no, instead of waiting on Energon I wanted to see how the Powerlinx gimmick worked. Stupid stupid stupid!
At least he's available online. Just drop the price a little more...

Re: The ones that got away: Which Transformers do you most regret not buying when you had the chance?
There have been a few, but of note, the Energon Leaders escaped my grasp at first.
Prime I just wasn't interested in until much later. I'm sure he was probably on clearance all the time, but I just didn't care. Years later, I bought him on eBay, because while ol' Fatimus is, well, tubby, he looks pretty damn badass when combined with Wing Saber. Can't remember what I paid for Prime, probably in the $60 range and he's incomplete too, missing the little radar dish on the trailer. Oh well. At least I got the faceplate version.
Galvatron was one of my grails for some time. I saw him in store once, but I couldn't afford him at the time. Gazed at him longingly, but had to put him back on the shelf, even tried to hide him for next time. Obviously he was gone next time, and I was kicking myself for years for not picking him up, as he now goes for $80+ complete on eBay. However, this story ends well, because just a couple months ago I got a tip about a loose E-Galvatron in a small local shop. I was expecting him to be incomplete or busted, but I still rushed there to see. Lo and behold he was in near-mint condition, with all parts, for a mere $45. It was a joyous occasion, and now my Energon Decepticons have a fitting leader.

I regret not getting Superlink Galvatron G. I remember passing up on even looking for him because I got the bigger-and-better Energon Galvatron. However Universe gave up a smaller Cyclonus and Titanium gave us a smaller Scourge and ... it'd have been nice to have Energon Galvy be their leader, instead of Universe Galvy. Unfortunately he is going for a damn MINT online, so the moment has passed.

Was Wildrider ever under $100? I thought he started at $130 and kept going up. If he was under $100 I would have snapped him up.

Only been collecting for under a year. I remember seeing Masterpiece Prime for 130-140 online, and was like, I'll wait. Now tons of places have him no cheaper than 200.

The one I wish I had bought when I saw it, and even had the funds in hand, was Energon Ultra Magnus. A brick, but one I still want today.

The energon Dinobot set, I skipped on it when I saw it as I only had a few bucks on me at the time, never saw him again.
The Energon Combaticon tanks. Decided only to bother with the Superion pieces, changed my mind, got the choppers easily enough, found barricade, never saw the tanks in package again at that point.

Forget regretting any one transformer, I regret living in a town monopolized by Wal-mart and thus usually not having the chance to regret not getting a figure I saw because it never showed up in the first place!

Classics Voyager Optimus. Love that mold.
Though, Cybertron Armada Optimus does quite well for my little Universe section.

I had G1 godmaster Overlord when I was kid. So I've always wanted to replace him. I Had a chance to buy him on ebay way before the 2007 movie for £80. Now he's way more expensive and even harder to find. Same thing with Scorponok. Should of focused on G1 instead of my alernators collection.

Re: The ones that got away: Which Transformers do you most regret not buying when you had the chance?
When I was first umming and ah-ing about getting into collecting late 2006 / early 2007, I passed on a few, partly because "I can't buy toys at my age...", and partly because they were Classics and Cybertron, and not what I was used to as TFs (G1 kid, here
). I ended up passing on Cyb leader Prime and Metroplex, as well as classics Rodimus and Titaniums G1 Ultra Magnus.
Fortunately, after the the 2007 movie, I found Cyb. leader Prime in a local TRU, and sometime after the initial rush for RotF one of the local shops must have found some older toys rotting in the stock room so I got not only the Metroplex, but also a Cyb. leader Megatron (which I'd decided I "must have" after reading posts on here, I think) to go with them.
Still not got Rodimus or Magnus, though. Probably start looking for them once I'm properly settled into my new flat and actually have somewhere to put them

Most of my regrettable pass-ups I've since acquired.
Example: For several years after passing them up in stores ("Next paycheque I'll get them!" I told myself...) I had been missing RiD Heavy Load and Mega-Octane, but had the rest of their combiner team members. Eventually eBayed them.
Let's see, I passed up a G2 Prime and regretted it... Encore Convoy solved the urge to get an original styled Prime (after my original got so wrecked), though the black trailer and missile launchers still haunt me...
One RiD guy I never got but had the chance was the transparent single pack Spychangers release of Hot Shot. I got the rest of them, but didn't have enough for him at the time... by the time I finally got around to him, there were none left. I should really look into getting one of those...
Other than that, not much... Innumerable Beast Wars figures escaped my grasp... But it always seems that the ones I want the most aren't the ones I saw in stores, but the ones I've never seen at all.

The collection i had when i was a kid included G1 Omega Supreme, Perceptor, Blaster, Hot Rod, all of the autobot cassettes, Smokescreen, Siren, and a few others. I sold them when i was 14ish to buy a SNES. In high school, i bought a huge lot box of TFers that include all the mini bots and alot the bots with bases, including a full Galvatron, G1 Optimus Prime with the trailer, Cyclonus, Scourge, Rodimus Prime, Blur, Wreck-gar, all the Seacons, the bots that make Abominus, complete Predaking, and a complete set of technobots. I ended up selling that lot at a local comic book shop for a measly $100 so i'd have gas money to run around with my friends(dumb teenagers 4tw).
I then collected all the G2 figures and ended up selling them for some other reason i can't remember, but it was dirt cheap as well.
Finally, common sense kicked in and when Beast Wars came out, i collected all the first toys that came out and i grabbed the transmetals as well. Ever since i've kept every damn TFer i've bought and i'm never selling them! lol
But, i am kicking myself in the ass for not collecting a full alternators set. I love that set and the only bot i managed to get was Smokescreen.
