Compare them against '84 bots though, look at the number of parts Prime, Megatron and the Seekers had.

Though in subsequent years they did scale back on the number of parts, then Pretenders bumped it up again.

On a side note, I'm really looking forward to the "pretenders" in PotP. How they will work and everything.

As much as I'd love/want a Masterpiece Pretender (and would definitely buy!), I do tend to prefer CHUGs -- simply due to price.

But since Beast Wars is now getting MP-love, maybe the Pretenders can too!

With Power of the Primes, it certainly would have been cool to see Voyager or even Leader class incarnations of the Pretenders (rather than being the new Titan Masters). Here's hoping for a genuine surprise with the Pretenders & PotP....

With Longtooth on his way, that makes for two Autobot Pretenders in my collection -- honestly, I only got Groundbreaker because he came in a sweet deal with Iguanus for me; but how cool would the Autobot Pretenders have been if their shells worked like X-O Manowar's?!Instead, we got Rick Astley as Sky High.

There really should have been some female Pretender shells. I would've included them all in my Nu 3V1L Horde!

Pretty much yeah. Not that I mind, I actually like Rob Liefelds work. Perhaps the Pretenders figures influenced him?

To do femme-bot Pretenders, the backpack style would totally work -- but I'd go for giant humanoid female warriors clad in armor, kinda like Metalhawk but female and with Dolly Parton's breasts.
They could hide accessories in the breastplate, or have missiles shoot out of 'em -- like Aphrodite A.

I got nothing against Rob, but he has always had crazy proportions.

I got space walrus yesterday....but the innerbot is missing the front hood. Buyer said all complete except for accessories (guns, wheels) -- should I have asked? He didn't have a pic of his back on the listing....

Well, that front car "hood" is easily detachable so it may be confused with an accessory. Should have paid attention to the pictures. Like that time I got a G1 Doubledealer for "cheap" but it WASNT complete, missing that damn blue chest part.

Buyers beware, eh Kanra? I guess Longtooth ain't complete without it....and innerbot will run me $30+.

Do like I always do. If you REALLY want the 100% complete figure, bite the bullet and pay the price from the start. You'll save a lot of time and ironically, money in the long run.

Backing up Kanra on the paying for a complete one, and I'll throw in this tip.

If you see a figure, hit up our galleries and TFU.info so you can see what parts are needed for the figure to be complete.

You two are right - if I want it bad enough, I'll buy at 100% complete.

Admittedly, I got a deal on Longtooth -- the only reason I really pulled the trigger. So when I believed Space Walrus had it all but every accessory (2 guns, dem wheels), I hunted those down, bartered, and got them all for under the "complete" asking price....I felt good.

I should have and could have asked before winning the auction -- but I wanted to believe it was all there, despite not being pictured, since his description of the item said complete but for the specific accessories I mentioned. He only had one pic, and they looked pristine -- he also had a lot of other TF listings and he sounded like he knew what "complete" meant.

But I should have asked. Lesson learned.

Fun fact: I watched a Thew review on Roadgrabber, thought it looked cool, one showed up on a cheap TF eBay search, and boom! I got both Roadgrabber and Gunrunner! Gunrunner is complete, Roadgrabber is just missing his small gun.

And then, Burn decided to prompt my recent Pretender interest, and I bought from him a complete Skullgrin and a Waverider minus a few accessories. And now that I have those 4, I do look forward to hunting more down in the future. And I cannot wait for the Power of the Primes line to come with the new shells. They may not be the true pretenders, but I like that the concept will still be used. And skullgrin can get a picture with his daddy
