The original Headmaster "titans" were pretty much perfect, weren't they? It's true, the Prime Masters do scale perfectly with them, but I prefer thinking of the 'Con Pretenders as kaiju-sized (where the Autobots are humanoid-sized!).

As the creator of the Pretenders (per the Marvel comics, and my head-canon), I think there should have been a Pretender Beast for Scorponok. I don't count Beast Wars Scorponok as the same bot (obviously!) but he had a biological alt mode that would make a great shell.

The Pretenders have all just about doubled in price (if they're "complete")....I've given up on actively hunting down Bludgeon. I'll just settle for his Prime Master -- at least he's in the right scale.

That is quite the deal from what I saw earlier. I read this post ages ago, just now getting time to sit and do something other than run the kids around or do my paid job. If you are aiming to get it I'll offer blood sacrifice in your name or some such. Good luck if your aiming for it Burn!

I won't be going for it as I already have a complete Gunrunner, and I don't consider him enough of a "high value" character to warrant having MIB.

But damn if that isn't a good price!

Hmmmm....high-value MISB? I only have three TFs I haven't opened (used to be 4 until I opened up Dark Scorponok the other day!), and if there's one, it'd be the Megatron reissue (my others are CW Sky Lynx and Takara Legends Arcee). But no Pretenders....that Gunrunner is cheap, no doubt, but I'd have to open him up!

That Gunrunner was not sealed. Only with box.

I'm getting rid of ALL my sealed Transformers because I now find this pointless. I openned two that I keep and will trade-in the rest at my local geek store. He have almost no pretenders left. So, because of PotP, I'll take a G1 Abobinus instead.

The only sealed TF I keep are my sealed Thundercraker collection. That's the only thing I'll ever keep. Ah, if I'd be rich, I'd buy ALL of those Japanese exclusive pretenters. I'd buy them sealed... Then, I'd make unboxing videos and video reviews. I'd like to do this for at least one. Either Black Shadow or Metalhawk. One day, man. One day.

The only time I'd have a MIB (**** that MISB crap) is if it's a character that has meaning to me, and I also have a loose version.

Which is why the only MIB figure I have is an original G1 Optimus Prime. Because you know, it's not hard to find a loose version of that guy.

Besides that Megatron, I haven't opened up the others due to laziness. Same with Dark Scorponok -- until I wanted a new villain to toy with. ;pMy younger brother gave him to me back in 2005 (he was our very first incarnation of the character!) and I was never compelled until earlier this week to open him up. Possibly cuz I was no longer collecting at the time -- or he wasn't G1 enuff lol

The only Pretender we had was Bugly, sans shell.

Someone pointed it out earlier. But it made me want a figure I never thought I would want.

That upcoming leader PotP Optimus Primal is technically a MEGA PRETENDER! There's a "inner bot" that can be used to upgrade the vehicle mode. The "shell" and the smaller figure can be used separated.

Pretty much the same thing with G1 Thunderwing, Vroom, and Crossblades!

Don't make this hard for me, Kanra! I decided to pass on Optimal to get a used MP32 instead! I really only wanted a version of Primal's original form, anyway. I still want the Optimus Double Pretender though, or Oilmaster.

I finally picked up Bludgeon! Too bad it's RotF Decepticon Bludgeon ($5, no weapons -- good thing I have a spare Eness sword!) -- but I think PotP Bludgeon will look great in his hands.

So, finally have some pretenders on the way. It is that Megs and O.P. two-pack, what better place to start then the respective leaders.

It comes down to personal preference, and to me, Pretenders were the 80's (POTP is a different shelf)

I gotta agree about club exclusives -- not a fan, but I s'pose that's why we got the internet.....provided you're willing to pay aftermarket prices. I've only bought a few that were never available in stores: Elita-1, Shattered Glass Drift, the Combiner Hunters...all the Pretenders I have were also thanks to the internet. With the set you got, Aces, it's totally one I'd hunt down. I'm excited to hear about 'em when you get 'em -- besides Shattered Glass Optimus, Double Pretender Optimus is another one I have on my list of Primes I still want.

Yeah, I ain't willing.

After market prices aside, I still have to factor in postage costs, which from US to Australia is utterly ridiculous.

Shipping costs have stopped me plenty of times from ordering things, Burn -- but we know Straya gets it much worse (if not the worst).

One of my least favorite things is seeing an online price that looks reasonable -- until S&H appears and completely kills any semblance of a good "deal".

It was fun hunting down the Pretenders for awhile -- there were domestic bargains to be had! Not so much anymore....I did get one Pretender, at a nearby vintage store: Roadgrabber. I probably overpaid by $20, but at least he was complete.

Shipping can be a bear, I know that living in the States I do get a break there a lot. Which I would be lying if I didn't say I haven't and won't take advantage of it. My wife was from Trinidad and I used to send her electronics when we were dating and working on her Visa. We did that because it was cheaper to have me ship but and ship then have her buy and have to pay the heavy import fees that were added to it.
Used to have a close friend who lived out Melbourne ways and I know import costs and shipping costs can be utterly outrageous for you Burn, and apparently you as well Bodrock,though your use of the term Straya had me trying to recall where I heard the term before and double checking myself.

Part of what sold me on that set though wasn't the club but, it was the use of a not released (if I remember correct) pretender shell from the original toys and the use of the Gears mold. It has quickly become one of my favorite mini-car molds. Cost wasn't too bad and shipping for me was 4 U.S.D. It will take a minute to get here, but I am patient, generally.
Now I am going to go have some coffee, read a book and that should put me out in time to get 3 hrs in.

I'm in the States, too, Aces! But all the toys I want are offshore and/or vintage.

I have a couple friends from Sydney, and they referred to themselves as Strayans!

And yes, sleep always kinda gets de-prioritized for me too.
