And Wookie bowcasters lay down some serious damage.

The lightsabre is not powerful on its own, it is 100% dependent on the skill of the user, unlike Chewie's Bow Gun.

Did we? I know people hypothesised this in Rogue 1 but when the movie came out, there was no indication of that and no mention of it.

Wasn't it in the dialogue? They were mining Jeda (Jehda?) for the crystals, for use on the Death Star. Could be wrong, but I recall them saying that.william-james88 wrote:Did we? In "Rogue One," Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) uses the crystals as fuel to power the Death Star. In most of Star Wars, Kyber crystals are used as a focus in one way or another, but typically not consumed. Calling them "fuel" implies that the Death Star actually consumes the crystals when firing.

I see what your saying too, and it's a good point. If they are using the crystals to power "the most powerful weapon in the galaxy", the energy produced by the crystals most be pretty dang intense. Even in a saber.
Still think the Force is the most powerful personal weapon though.

Kyber crystals, also called the living crystal, the lightsaber crystal or simply the kyber, and known as kaiburr crystals in ancient times, were rare, Force-attuned crystals that grew in nature and were found on scattered planets across the galaxy.
So they're kind of like, the physical embodiment of the Force.

The Force should never be used as a weapon, only for knowledge and defense. These are the weapons of a Jedi.

So did the concept of Kyber crystals exist before Rogue 1?

Here's a question. The wookies live in huts on a foresty type planet...yet they were able to develop, make and refine the bowcaster...where were their factories,

Wasn’t it revealed somewhere that Wookiee are so into nature that they grow ships and weapons from the very trees they live in? I thought it was something dumb like that.

In the beginning of the movie, they establish that the First Order can and is tracking them through lightspeed, more specifically through their MAIN ship.
I think it was a Rose/Finn scene, and the discovery may not have been passed on to Holdo (or whatever her name was, purple hair lady leader).
So... couldn't they have just... made the information known to Holdo, evacuate the main ship - sacrificing it, jump the rest of the fleet away, thus saving 99% of the remaining rebels?

Or.......... all of those 1st order star destroyers carried 100sn if not thousands of TIE fighters. Why not send them all out at once? That sort of mass fire would have easily overwhelmed one cruisers shields.
