I like where your head’s at, I really do, but Ewan didn’t play Obi-Wan beyond the films; it was James Arnold-Taylor for the Clone Wars Show, and the one before it from Gendy Tartakovsky, and most of the video games.

So if the sequence from Rogue One where he attacks Leila's ship were stretched out into a 2-hour-plus "movie" you would find that exciting?

No background story, no interactions between characters, just Vader using the force and swinging a saber? That's exciting for more than 5 minutes?

@ D-Max - Just want to make sure you know that the Obi-Wan movie is most definitly a thing. They have nailed down a director who is in pre-production, and Ewan has all but said, all they need to do is ask and he's in.
If anyone needs source on that. Just Google it. You'll find a million articles.

I never did post my thoughts on Solo. I liked it. I thought it looked great, felt great, had a good story, and I had a ton of fun watching it. But, I still think that pretty boy, did not make a convincing Han. He wasn't awful, but he wasn't great.

Chewie, the Falcon, and Lando pretty much carried the movie for me.

Apparently the movie hasn't done as well as they'd hoped, as I've seen a few articles citing it's sluggish performance at the box office as a problem Disney needs to sort out.

True, but I think it’s more because they invested more money into it than originally planned. They were pretty well along when they fired the original directors and brought in Ron Howard, weren’t they? All that extra money for him and reshoots and blah. $500mil later, a $120mil opening isn’t that great. Crazy stuff.

I'd heard whispers of that, and I thought it was someone getting ready to pull my leg.

But hell yeah to Obi Wan!!!

And it could be a prequel to Phantom Menace, it could be during the 13 years between Phantom and Revenge, and he could even have an adventure while watching over Luke, like how Maul found him in Rebels

Thanks to the brilliant stewardship of Kathleen Kennedy on the Star Wars franchise, the future is very bright! Just look at how fast the toys are flying of the shelves! This is what made George Lucas filthy rich! The toys! The toys!

Where once I was so concerned in a what if sort of way if what if Disney takes over TF. at the rate they are running the SW franchise, TF will be even more successful! In a what if sort of way.

Now, about Solo, which is a certified runaway hit! I heard somewhere that the the actor was signed on 2 more movies. Good!

Can't wait for episode 9! ;)

SOLO!

I liked it. Quite a bit. Though it wasn't perfect. And being the only other "side" story, I feel the need to compare it to Rogue One, and it doesn't live up to that. But it was still thoroughly enjoyable.

There were a lot of laughs, and not stupid laughs like in TLJ. They felt appropriate and keeping within the tone. Obviously, it looked phenomenal as well. The story was great. And the acting was spot on. Which is to say it was great, even though the new guy clearly is not Harrison Ford. Glover's Lando was perfect, maybe even too perfect if that makes any sense. Because you get to a certain point where it becomes the drawing equivalent of "tracing", and it kinda felt like that. On the flipside you have captain newpants (I don't know his name) as Han, and the character is recognizable while still making it his own. I'm ok with that, because copying and failing would be far worse than what he managed to do.

What I loved:
-Chewy. Everything he does.
-Woody. I actually get pretty annoyed when I see established A-list celebs infiltrating long standing franchises (looking at you Benicio) but I didn't mind it here. He seemed to fit in.
-The Falcon. Seeing it pristine was great, all the action and damage it took was fun too.
-Lando. Sure I said "tracing". But that doesn't mean I didn't like it. He was funny, and I'll get into droid thing later down...
-Han. I just... liked him. He wasn't perfect, and I have some complaints, but I was still pretty happy with him in the end. He pulled off the cocky "I know what I'm doing even through I'm clearly making this up as I go along" thing that defines him pretty well.
-Han shot first. **** you special edition.

What I didn't love:
-Han's GF randomly turning up in the floating gangster bar/base. Seriously? If this were earth, you lost your GF in some 3rd world country, then 3 years later run into her by chance in say a gangsters bar in the States/Europe, THAT would be enough of a coincidence for me to be like "pfff yeah right". But we're talking the span of an entire FRIGGIN GALAXY here. So give me a break.
-The Kessel Run. It was neat, but it didn't feel like a legend unfolding before me, which is really what it's become at this point. Nor did they explain the whole parsecs thing. Watch Cinemassecre's review where they explain it compared to Cannonball run. It makes the most sense of any theory I've ever heard.
-Han leaves his GF behind... again. No. ****. Way. It's been his driving goal for the entire movie. So at the end when they're both free and clear, and she say's "don't worry, right behind you", there is no way that he would be ok with leaving her behind again. Sorry, that's poor writing. Find a way to split them up if it serves the story, but make it believable.
-The reveal of the Rival Smugglers. This isn't about women or whatever, but she was what? 12 years old?
-Han was too heroic. He's supposed to be surprisingly and begrudgingly heroic. He was full of himself for sure, but not all that selfish. And you'd expect him (at this young age) to be especially selfish.
-Space fuel. Watch Cinemasins TLJ video. He points out that the concept of "fuel" in the Star Wars universe (movies anyways) was never mentioned before, and all of a sudden here (and with TLJ) it is now a MAJOR plot point. So like.... why..?

Complaints from others, that I didn't care about:
-Lando's droid love, and the droid revolution. I thought it was funny, and remember that WE'RE living in 2018, not them. People in the far out space future probably sex it up wit all sorts of things. No one seemed to care when Kirk did it. And the uppity droid, I just figure that in a galaxy of 26 trillion droids, chances are you'd find one like that.

No opinion on.. yet:
-Darth Maul. Part of me never wants to see anything 1-3 ever again. And another part of me was like "neat". At the moment, there's too little to go on to get mad or happy about it. But it does put something major in motion that needs to be resolved with another film. So does that mean... Solo 2?

As for a Boba Fett movie.... ehh....
Can we not all, as a people, simply agree that we all think he LOOKS cool, and nothing else? It's the armor. That's it.
Boba Fett, the character, was a buffoon.

Vader movie? Yes please!

I also think with Jabba in the mix we could see Solo and Fett tied together.

I actually thought the maul thing would lead...to Rebels where Obi Wan killed him in one strike...because he's that good. I still question whether or an Obi Wan movie would work unless you set it pre episode 3 or have the whole movie take place on tattooine...or I guess have him jedinapped and the movie is about him getting back to tattooine to make sure no one messes with Luke

I am pretty sure it would be in the 18 years between being on Tatoinne and then meeting Luke. Especially if we want to get some Maul action.I didnt know he died on Rebels, I only watched his Clone Wars stuff. He doesnt have to get kidnapped, just learn that someone is after him. That Maul is back. And then he goes off to battle him or whatever. ANd he would basically be doing it to protect luke anyways since Maul might Target luke knowing its a weakness for Obi Wan.

Yeah Obi Wan kills him in the last season of rebels, he (maul) featured a bit in the later half of the show, at one point showing the main character the dark side of the force.
