Hauling eh? I bet it's Ultra Magnus, it must be pretty bad having to carry around other Transformers.

Now that I think about it... what else is more degrading than being someone else's wardrobe?
That's pretty much bottom of the ladder right there.

Crap, Victory Leo... I really meant to add him, too... I've got bad luck with forgetting large cats in my last couple. Anyway,
Victory Leo
In Masterforce he was God Ginrai,

Hey, guys... remember me?
He was the leader! He was the most powerful of the Godmasters!
Then Victory rolled around...

I went berserk in my first episode! Can you tell I was built by Perceptor and Wheeljack?

Wheeljack, why the f*** did you build Victory Leo with a small brain?

Simple brain, Optimus!

What ever.
...and he got shafted down to backpack and shoes duty.

My life is a joke.
There, fixed. (also added to the original post)

Let's not forget the Breast Force animals. There's nothing as great as transforming into a sentient push-up bra. Makes you wonder if Lyzack had a partner too.

RiD Dreadwind and Smokejumper were retconned into this category with the creation of MegaWing Galvatron and Dark MegaWing Galvatron.
Hmm, "hauling". Maybe those who pull or carry around others or goods. Like Armada Rollout (who carries Overload), any car carrier character, any dumptruck... or wait. Maybe those forms aren't as degrading as the previous four. But I still say the clue is the word "hauling".Samsonator wrote:That about wraps up the fashion show, I'll be hauling the next entry out as soon as I can!

Funny you should mention Armada Rollout, as he's Overload's Mini-Con partner. Thing is, Overload transforms into an armored trailer of all things, worst is he's useless without anybody actually hauling him. And he can't even transform without his Mini-Con, much less move about.

US: seperate character from Rollout
Japan: Magnus' (Rollout) fatsuit for becoming Ultra Magnus (Overload).
Those are my guesses

Those are my guesses
Armada cartoon - lifeless armor for Prime (with robot mode making an unacknowedged cameo)
Micron Densetsu Linkage manga - unknown (he never spoke ^_^')
Armada Dreamwave comic - likely Rollout's fatsuit
Armada pack-in comic - separate dude from Rollout

Never fear, #1 will be coming along very shortly. Things have been a little crazy at work and I've been spending a lot less time at home except when I'm sleeping. But all should snap back into place tomorrow. Got days off coming up.

Oh, I just thought of something that's degrading: a bomb! Cybertron Laserbeak (and its redecos) turned into this form. Sure, he never acted like a bomb, but just the idea of turning into an explosive is degrading.

It's here, it's real, it's not a fake, forgery, or other form of counterfeit.
The final entry in my list of things that it sucks to turn into!
#1: Trailers!
As stated previously, this is a list of the few, the proud, the ones that have horrible standalone alt-modes. And something that needs to be towed is definitely at the top of my list.
The Trailer. The Caboose. The Thing-Being-Hauled-Behind-The-Important-Guy.
Only a brave few robots ever stoop this low on the alt-mode ladder.
Let us pity them together...

Are we there yet? I can't see a damn thing back here!
If you thought I was done making fun of Godbomber, you were mistaken.
Again, technically Godbomber is not a sentient robot, I know this. He was built to be hauled and worn, and occasionally to babysit the kids. If he were a sentient machine he probably would have offlined himself long ago, once he came to the realization that aside from his robot mode, on his own he's completely useless.
Next up, we have a topic of recent discussion in this thread. Depending on what continuity you subscribe to, these next candidates could potentially be ineligible for this category. I am, of course, referring to...

Mini-Con Camping Trip.
Overload and his Energon repaint Ultra Magnus are, by Hasbro pack-in comic continuity standards (and club fiction standards) sentient machines who's Mini-Cons (Rollout and Knock-Out) haul them as trailers, and powerlinx with them to create a mutual robot mode. The Mini-Cons, however, have their own individual robot modes and can leave the trailers behind any time they want. This in turn means that without The 'Out Twins these robots are just a touch more helpless than the Headmasters in G1's "Rebirth" story without their heads. At least the Headmasters could move their own vehicle modes.
... And... that's it. That's the Top Five. Sad to see this list come to a close, but I s'pose if I think of anything else there can be honourable mentions and the like. We'll see...
Thanks to everyone who read and enjoyed the list. I hope that everybody liked reading this as much as I did writing it, and look forward to my next list should I ever come up with something this good again.

Not bad.
You could mention G1 Prime's trailer. In the cartoon it, Prime, and Roller were all components of Optimus Prime and damaging that damaged all three.

Yep, that's lame. Especially turning into a dump truck trailer. You get dragged around and dumped on/in all day.

I agree with the God Ginrai/Victory Leo analogy. From uber leader to glorified elevator shoes cum backpack. But then again, without the human's "chokun" power, robots aren't that super anymore right?

Actually, he can be powered up and be driven with the use of Chokon Power. The Headmaster Jrs. did just that in Masterforce. I don't know about his US counterpart the Apex Bomber though.
