Maketoys Giant Mobile Crane/Hook's thighs can compress inwards so that the wheels sit close to the thigh. It seems it compresses in robot mode, and expands when in vehicle mode.

I was skeptical but you're kind of right. Unless I've misunderstood your post I think you've got it the wrong way around. The lower/inner thigh goes into the leg so the inner thigh is smooth (shut up, don't go there!) and straight. The wheels are no longer flush with the outside edge.

I didn't realise this until I read your post and I'm embarrassed to see it's in the instructions and I'm sure I went through those at some point...

Ah, I wasn't sure which was the right way because I didn't open the instructions packet. For 3rd party stuff, I've learnt to just leave the extra stuff sealed to help keep whatever resale value that might accumulate. I figured the wheel sitting flush would be better for robot mode since that would be what it would look like if it was some 2D art, but whatever works for people. There are some official pics that seem to forget about this as well, haha.

Yes, of course we're free to transform them however we wish but you'll find the wheels have to be flush for crane mode.

I discovered last night that Giant's instructions miss a lot of stuff. They don't explain how to combine the weapons, nor how to attach/remove the arms (I'm talking about the release buttons) and they don't mention the release buttons for the lower legs. Very poor. I'm concerned that people who don't watch reviews and read forums will break theirs. Please don't explain to me how to do these things - I already know!

Sidearm Sideswipe's ankles can swivel just a bit so he's not so pigeon toed.

They can go all the way around.

I just realized that I can actually get DOTM Shockwave's neck to tab in in robot mode. I didn't realize there was another peg and hole further down the assembly between his neck and the chest/rib cage. When transforming, line the neck up first, and then press down on the black neck assembly from behind to tab it into the back of the chest. The neck tab should follow and stay in with no problems.

lol, this incident happens everyday at my home…except my daughter is respectful of my collection, and nothing comes up missing…otherwise she gets grounded from them..she even knows which figures she can and can not play with (masterpieces are the only no no).

Was reading a back issue of Spider-man and noticed the Autocepter watch was one of the prizes for the Sales Leadership Club. That's pretty neat.

This is ironic, I just found out that Leobreaker can connect to Tidal Wave last night. I tried to connect Tidal Wave's arms to Optimus but they don't fit very well. You can get them in there but they'll pop right out.

You can turn Prime Soundwave into a pretty awesome bird mode. I dont have pivs, but it pretty much involves just articulating his plain mode.
