Not bad so far, but it would look more accurate, and better if you used silver instead of white.

The white looks better with the light blue. If you wanted to look a little more like the cartoon, I'd suggest a very light grey.

That said, I think the silver would look great with a deep medium blue. I've been trying to decide which shade to use on mine... Could you post a pic of your WIPcracker with Starscream and Skywarp?

No, that silver is ten times better than white, and much more toon and toy accurate. Skids, remember, greys were only used in the toon to represent metallics like silver and steel. They were never meant to be grey tones. Therefore, metallics are almost always better to use over flat greys

Yeah, I know what you mean. But I still think silver and sky blue clash.

And, I am saying, from an artist's perspective, no they don't. Silver, as with grey, white, and black, is a neutral tone. It goes with anything. Also, froma heraldic perspective, being a metal, it (and gold) will go with any color (i.e. red, blue, green, orange, purple, black).

Ah, silver... a style staple. It's true, the silver's far better. And more to the point that's what colour it should be. Personally I'm going with a darker blue for my version, but this is looking pretty cool, all in all. Nice one.

Exactly. I went with a darker blue myself for mine. It's the same metallic blue I used on my custom Chromia— Tamiya Color Metallic Blue # X-13. It is also almost exactly the same color they molded the original G1 Thundercracker toy in.

Mine's quite a bit darker; I've started out with a midnight blue base coat, although it'll be lighter when it's done.

Looks good.

The silver is better than the white.

Personally, I too would've used a darker shade of blue (more toy accurate) with metallic flat aluminum (Humbrol 27002?)

I post this pic only to get some comparison.
I had used silver and then used a clear. It kinda removed the bright silver finish to be replaced by a more metallic but less shiny look.
You did a much better jobs than I did.
I did not paint details on the wings (I spay painted over them) and I did'nt put faction sigs on them.
I should. I'm affraid I'll scrap the job by trying to add details...Spray paint is easy but when it comes to hand painting....I'm bad.
And thanks for hosting this pic for me! I remember! :D
I just noticed that I should'nt have painted Thundercracks tits...

Nah, the black looks better, and is more toy accurate. the same with the black arms. Ptitvite, if you don't feel up to hand painting details, you might want to look at either using waterslide decals, or use stencils or tape to mask off areas and spray paint or airbrush the details on.

I think he's done it so the forearms are black, but the backs of the arms (which face out in jet mode) are blue. Good idea.
And Ptitvite... you so should have painted his tits - or at least the tyres. They look a lot more realistic in black, and don't look to shabby in robot mode. I've done that on my Starscream and Thundercracker, and Skywarp'll be getting the same treatment.

Yeah! One side of arm is blue and the other black.
I did this to both arms. In Jet mode, he is blue and you don't see any black. It is not a mistake! lol
