I wonder if Takara will do a slightly different sticker sheet for their Trypticon release? They have in the past, and have mostly rectified errors with the directions on where to apply the stickers. That might be at least one more differentiation between the two versions. I don't know if paying almost $100 more is worth it for better sticker directions, though, lol!

Spring diameter (from one side of the coil to the other): 25mm
Thickness: just over 1mm (maybe 1.25-ish?)Honestly, I don't think his ship mode is too sparse on detail. There are all the details on the 'platforms' on the sides of the ship, all the little reactor details, the honestly insane number of stickers on the front section... I'll totally agree with you on the city mode needing more sticker detail (could they really not have put a bunch of the stickers on spaceship mode so that they didn't disappear for city mode?RAR wrote:One thing that is a trifle strange about Trypticon is how plain he looks in "spaceship" mode & base mode. the stickers that are visible are all so small and there is large areas with no paint or detail.
I wish they'd tampographed or painted some detail on him - or at least provided more obvious places to apply your own paint.
Example would be the long ramp arrow on the original.
As much of his body is clear green plastic - and I'd not want to cover that up I'd say perhaps some additional detail sticker that he might need could do with being clear back ones.), but I think ship mode is honestly pretty fine overall.
(Just a tiny tip for anyone who hasn't put all their stickers on yet - there's a pair of stickers that are "meant" to go on each side of Trypticon's lower torso, but they're just a tiny bit too large for that and end up having little flappy edges. I'd recommend leaving those off the torso if you can stand to, and instead finding somewhere to put them on the city mode to add just a bit more detail to that mode. I might take a picture or two to illustrate later on.)
yeah, those two stikers in the lower torso are really troublesome.

Were there any issues with the Fort Max Sticker sheet? I know it sounds silly me asking, but FM is the only Transformer I purchased recently with stickers to apply. Also considering I have sausage fingers, and my wife's expertise at reading schematics, I actually had her apply them.
. She enjoyed it for the most part, but I did witness her using some specialized tools to apply some of the tiniest ones.
Looks like she can look forward to applying the ones on Trypticon when I get him eventually as well heh...

I do enjoy applying stickers, but I recall Fort Max's being tedious and the instructions being wrong at some point. Or maybe they just left some stickers out of the instructions all together.

Just gonna throw my hat in the ring since I forgot to earlier, I'm kinda glad Trypticon needs some work. I've been trying to get into model kits lately with my father, so once we get the big guy we'll do the hip fix and the stickers and crack it all out in a few hours. A little father-son bonding, if you will.

Just got my Trypticon, haven't played with him yet, but I noticed 2 things:
1. The toy is bigger than people are giving it credit for. His leg is taller than a Leader-class, and it feels like just as much material. Considering the bulk of the toy is the body versus the 2 legs, that speaks volumes. Yes, he might not be as tall as Metroplex or Fort Max, but this guy can definitely throw his weight around. For what it's worth, his leg is as tall as Devastator's leg, Hip ratchet to Hip ratchet. Again, for not being the bulk of the toy it's impressive.
2. You guys are right, it takes a ridiculous amount of effort to ratchet the legs. I think the spring swap will be a common occurrence. I will probably also do it.
So because of the hip issue, and the problem people have with the height, I think someone like PE should make oversized legs for him. a leg that is 3-4" taller would make him even more impressive. Fixes the one 2 problems people have with the mold, though I can't comment how it will effect transformation since I haven't gotten that far yet.

actually a whole, longer leg shouldn't be a big issue, since there's only one tab in the leg needed for the altmodes, so it should be easy to put in another section of the leg instead of the one it's on the official one.
But I don't know how will a longer leg look on Trypticon.
Maybe it would look better, but there's also the chance it will look too long and sleek for the figure itself.

Btw has anyone tried swapping the ratchet springs over with either Metroplex or Fort Max?(or do they both also carry that same crappy plastic crosspiece? or have completely different mechanics altogether?)

So BBTS sent me (and others I'm sure) an email saying that they were going to potentially receive standard grade Trypticon some time in August, and that they were going to be selling their substandard grade. I went ahead and checked to make sure the figure would still be complete and such, and had it shipped today. I'm really excited about getting it next week and will probably post as detailed an "impression pieces" as I can.

So I guess it's pretty much a given that all the Trypticons will need the hip modifications. It wasn't just isolated cases.

Yes, I just replaced mine yesterday, and the real culprit seems to be the ratchet design and the strength of the spring. The plastic on mine did not seem overly soft like Quan's did, but the rachets were near impossible to move, so I didn't push my luck there.

Sounds about right. I was just looking at my TRU receipt from last year. It was July 30th I found Fort Max at the nicer TRU about 15 miles away from my home (as opposed to the not-so--nice one I pass by all the time, but seems to be restocking CoV constantly...) Looks like this weekend might be a good reason to venture out there.

A buddy of mine works at our TRU. We don't get boxsets at ours, but we get Titans!
He messaged me right after stocking it. However, I had to work an outdoor concert all day yesterday. I had my wife get my credit card and go nab it.

yeah, it's strange, but also think about it.
What more can you possibly add to this figure (in terms of stickers or paintjob) more than the base version, other than a new fancy box?
Let's face it, Trypticon already has metallic paint, a lot of stickers, and is not missing some crucial accessory, like Fortress missed the sword.
With Metroplex the retail version was almost a big chunk of white plastic, and the SDCC added chrome paint.
Devastator got stickers, a different facesculpt and chromed paint.
Fortress got the sword, a different paintjob and stickers.
Sincerely, with Trypticon I can't see any possibility of paint upgrade (just maybe some chromed bit in the purple part of the shoulder cannons) and the only real "premium" thing they could do is pre-applied stickers.
I don't think they'll add the optional parts that would form the tank, since they didn't it with Metroplex nor Fortress.
Maybe I'm wrong, but so far while in the other titan class toys you could clearly see a range of updates for premium versions, I can't see those in Trypticon.
